Tired and need a holiday

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I haven't been to the seaside for seven years, nor have I had a holiday for two years. I miss the sea and travelling a little. Please pray in Jesus name that God provides me with an opportunity to rest somewhere else (near the sea or in the mountains). You can also pray for inner rest if you wish, but if you really want to pray with me, then pray for travel.Thank you!

We hear your weariness and the longing in your heart for rest, renewal, and the beauty of God’s creation, whether by the sea or in the mountains. The Scripture reminds us in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." Rest is not just a physical need but a spiritual one, and the Lord invites you to bring your exhaustion to Him.

We also lift up your desire to travel, knowing that even the psalmist found joy and wonder in God’s handiwork: "The sea is his, and he made it. His hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let’s worship and bow down. Let’s kneel before Yahweh, our Maker!" (Psalm 95:5-6). The Lord delights in refreshing His children, and we trust He will open a door for you to experience His peace in a new place.

Father in Heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking that You would provide this precious one with an opportunity for rest, whether by the sea, in the mountains, or wherever Your Spirit leads. Lord, You know the burdens they carry, and You promise to sustain those who wait on You. We ask for provision, for open doors, and for the joy of Your presence to go with them. Refresh their spirit, renew their strength, and let them taste the goodness of Your creation. May this time away draw them closer to You, the true source of rest. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to trust in God’s timing and provision, even as you wait. Sometimes the Lord uses seasons of waiting to prepare us for the blessings ahead. Keep your heart open to His leading, and remember that He is faithful to care for His children. If financial concerns or other obstacles stand in the way, bring those to Him as well, He is able to make a way where there seems to be none. "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6). You are not forgotten, and we believe God will answer this prayer according to His perfect will.

We hear how much you miss the sea and how long it’s been since you’ve had a real break. That kind of tiredness goes deep, not just physical exhaustion, but a soul-ache for a change of scenery and the rhythm of waves or mountain air. It’s not selfish to long for that; God made us with bodies and minds that need rest and beauty.

We’re praying with you that God will open a door for travel, and we trust that He knows exactly where you need to be. As you wait, maybe there’s a small way to start planning or setting aside what you can, even a little at a time, sometimes just taking a first practical step helps us stay hopeful. But we also ask for the kind of inner rest that sustains you right where you are, so the weariness doesn’t overwhelm you before the trip comes.

Lord Jesus, You see this tired heart that longs for the sea and for a genuine holiday. Please provide the opportunity, the resources, and the time for this to happen. Open doors that no one can shut, and guide the details, whether it’s a quiet coastal town or a mountain retreat. While we wait, give Your deep rest that doesn’t depend on location. Refresh body and spirit, and let this hope become a reality soon. In Your name, Amen.

The cry of your heart reaches the ear of the Lord of hosts, and He knows the longings for the sea and the hills. The very frame that aches for change and the spirit that pines for other scenes are not unknown to Him, for He cares for you. Yet remember, soul, that the rest you crave in travel and in the sight of waters is but a shadow of a deeper, truer rest, the rest which Christ gives to all who come weary and heavy laden to Him. The seaside would soothe for a season, but His promise is, I will give you rest. Seek first that inner repose which the world cannot give and cannot take away, and then trust Him who feeds the sparrows to grant also the lesser gift of bodily refreshment.

You speak of missing the sea and longing to travel; these are lawful desires, and He who made both the mountains and the deep can open a door for you to enjoy them. But let not your heart be fixed on the journey as though without it you could have no peace. The children of Israel looked for Canaan as their rest, yet even there they faced battles. Our true rest is in Christ Himself, rest of conscience through His blood, rest of mind by leaning on His bosom, rest of heart in the Father's love. Have you found this? If you have believed in Jesus, you have entered into rest even now, though your feet tread the city streets and your ears hear the din of labor. That rest is yours forever, unshaken by care or confinement. From that sure harbor, you may pray with boldness for a time of retreat by the waves, and the Lord who notes the sparrow's fall will heed your request in His own wise time and way.

Do not imagine that rest is found only in ceasing from work or in changing your place. The truest rest is enjoyed when the soul is doing the will of God with a quiet heart. Even the Lord Himself rests in His love and in His Church, finding His delight in His people. So may you find rest in the midst of duty, taking His yoke upon you and learning of Him, for He is meek and lowly, and you shall find rest for your soul. Then, whether by the sea or in your own dwelling, you will be at peace. Cast this care upon Him, for He cares for you. Tell Him your weariness, your years without a holiday, your love for the spray and the mountain air. He listens, and His heart is tender. He gave the Sabbath to weary man as a token of the rest He desires to give. Trust Him, and wait. He may soon surprise you with kindness, opening a path to the shore or the hills. Even if He delays, His grace will be sufficient, and His presence will be your refreshment until the day He grants your heart's desire. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.

You speak of missing the sea and longing for travel, and your weariness is evident. But consider: the rest you truly need is not found on a shore or mountain peak, but in the still waters and green pastures where the Good Shepherd leads the soul. Many have thought that escape to caves or quiet places would bring peace, yet they found that apart from Christ, even the loveliest setting breeds bitterness. I have often wished to speak only of that rest where sorrow and sighing flee away, the rest that remains for the people of God. The narrow road is painful, but it leads to life; the broad way of luxury and ease ends in ruin. Do not envy those who travel easily, for their path is destruction. Seek first the rest of the soul, the calm that comes from charity and faith, which is far more excellent than any earthly gift.

Yet I do not dismiss your body's fatigue. I will pray that God, who knows your frame, may grant you a season of refreshment, if it be His will, and that in whatever place He sets you, you may find in Him the truest rest. But more fervently I pray that you may not harden your heart through unbelief, and so fail to enter that eternal rest. Let your hope be fixed yonder, and even a time of outward stillness will become a foretaste of the peace to come. May the Lord Jesus, who healed the woman of her long affliction and stilled the storm, still your soul and, if He sees fit, lead you beside earthly waters as a sign of the living water He alone can give.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The weariness you describe is one I think we all understand at some point. Going years without a real break, missing the sight of the sea or the quiet of the mountains, can make the heart feel heavy and boxed in. It is good that you ask for prayer, and I will indeed pray with you that God opens a door for travel and rest.

But as I consider your request, my mind goes to a deeper promise God has given. The Scriptures speak of a rest that is not found on a shoreline or a mountain path, but in Himself. He has left us the promise of entering His rest, and the question that comes back to us from the Word is whether we have truly entered it. The only entrance is through faith. It is not by seeing our way clearly or having all the resources lined up, but by believing that Jesus has already done everything necessary for our peace. We often try everything else first, looking for rest in a change of scenery, a new plan, or some visible assurance. But the true rest for our souls is found nowhere else but in simply trusting Him.

That kind of rest can feel difficult, especially when the longing for escape is so strong. Our minds can crowd out the essentials by filling up with plans and interests that, while not wrong in themselves, become a source of restlessness. Yet Christ Himself is our Sabbath, our true provision. Just as God made one provision for the forgiveness of sin through His Son, He has made one provision for our deepest rest. If we chase after it in our own efforts or refuse the provision He has made, we will only find a dry, weary place. But when we come to the end of our own resources, we often find we are at the very spot where we can learn to rest completely on Him.

So I do pray with you. I pray that God provides time away, near the sea or in the mountains, that your body and mind might be refreshed. But more than that, I pray you would know the quiet, unshakable rest of a heart that has stopped striving and has simply cast itself on the Lord. That is the rest which remains for the people of God, a sanctuary where even in the midst of daily demands you can hear no voice of oppression and be free. Travel may be the outer refreshment you seek, but let Christ be the rest wherewith the weary are truly caused to rest.
