Glorious Sabbath Day People of God:
The message of love, the very essence of what truly pleases God is repeated throughout the New Testament. Time and time again, the scriptures make it clear how we are to demonstrate a love that genuinely honors God. 1 Peter 4 (NLT) ⁸Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. ⁹Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay. God just doesn't seem to let the message of that "caring and sharing" love go. Unfortunately, because of man's prideful nature, greed, and favoritism, which is enmity against God, "Real Love," which embodies the characteristics of Christ, often becomes the very stone at which humanity stumbles.
It can be challenging to put aside self-will; especially that childish spirit of vengeance (1 Corinthians 13:11). Yet, God is not influenced by man's will; He is moved by man's obedience. Therefore, when we delight ourselves in the LORD, He is delighted with us—His delight is displayed by an outpouring of reward. As a city, in particular, this can only happen when you stop trying to control God's protocol and simply do the job which He assigned to His cities. Jesus's yoke is not only easy; it's incredibly rewarding. Psalms 37 (NIV) ⁴Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. ⁵Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: ⁶He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
One of the primary reasons for committing our way to the LORD is to advance His ministry. Following advice that says you shouldn't help a neighbor in need—particularly an elder, or one on assignment for God—directly contradicts God's righteous guidance. There are many underlying reasons why God might withhold or even withdraw rewards altogether. Still, the overarching reason is that man is out of alignment with His Word. Essentially, whatever is not righteous is unrighteous. Unrighteousness is the ministry of satan. God does not reward unrighteousness.
Prioritize Him.
