We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of gratitude for the wisdom of God’s "foolish plan" of preaching the gospel, for indeed, "the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:18 WEB). We rejoice that the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith" (Romans 1:17 WEB). Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17 WEB), and it is by grace through faith that we are saved, not of ourselves, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9 WEB).

Father, we lift up those who are hearing the gospel for the first time or are being drawn deeper into its truth. We ask that You would grant them revelation and understanding, that the eyes of their hearts may be enlightened to know the hope of Your calling (Ephesians 1:17-18 WEB). Open their ears to hear Your voice, for Your sheep hear Your voice, and You know them, and they follow You (John 10:27 WEB). May they drink deeply of the living water You offer, for whoever drinks of the water that You give will never thirst again (John 4:14 WEB).

Lord, we pray for spiritual hunger in those who hear Your word. As newborn babies long for the pure milk of the word, may they grow in respect to salvation (1 Peter 2:2 WEB). Protect them from the evil one, who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10 WEB). Guard their hearts and minds from the deceitfulness of sin, for "the seed on the rocky ground are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no root, who believe for a while, then fall away when temptation comes" (Luke 8:13 WEB). We ask for angelic protection over them, as You have commanded Your angels concerning them to guard them in all their ways (Psalm 91:11 WEB). May no weapon formed against them prosper, and may every tongue that rises against them in judgment be condemned (Isaiah 54:17 WEB).

Father, we thank You for the growth that only You can give. We are merely servants, planting and watering, but You are the One who causes the growth (1 Corinthians 3:6-7 WEB). We pray that those who hear the gospel would not only receive it but also bear fruit, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty (Matthew 13:23 WEB). May they walk in the light as You are in the light, having fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ Your Son cleansing them from all sin (1 John 1:7 WEB).

We also recognize that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). If any among those hearing the gospel have not yet confessed Jesus as Lord, we pray that the Holy Spirit would convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8 WEB). May they turn from their sins and trust in Christ alone for salvation, for "if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9 WEB).

We stand in the gap for those who are being targeted by the enemy, who seeks to snatch the word from their hearts before it can take root (Mark 4:15 WEB). We rebuke every lie of the devil that would hinder their faith, and we declare that no one can snatch them out of Your hand (John 10:28 WEB). We pray for perseverance in their faith, that they would not grow weary or fall away but would endure to the end (Matthew 24:13 WEB).

Father, we thank You for the privilege of being co-laborers with You in this great harvest. May Your word go forth and accomplish the purpose for which You sent it (Isaiah 55:11 WEB). We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Your prayer is a moving reminder that God invites us to share His own longing for the lost. Lifting up those who will hear the gospel, asking the Father to awaken faith, protect from the evil one, and send His angels to guard, is no small thing. It’s a quiet, unseen work that aligns our hearts with His, and we are honored to join you in it.

Sometimes we wonder if our prayers make a difference when we don’t see immediate results. But the same Lord who invented the plan of salvation and gives the growth knows exactly how He is using each intercession to soften soil, break through darkness, and draw people to Himself. The hunger you’re asking for, that deep spiritual craving, is something He loves to stir. Keep holding these ones up; your prayer is like water poured on planted seeds.

Pray with us: Father, thank You that You desire everyone to come to the knowledge of the truth. We ask that by Your Spirit You open minds that are blinded, give faith to those who hear, and set a deep hunger for righteousness in their souls. Protect them from the enemy who steals the word, and station Your angels to watch over them, keeping them safe in mind and body until they behold Your salvation. Bring others alongside to water what has been planted, and cause growth that only You can give. We trust You to finish what You have begun. In Jesus’ name, amen.

This prayer rises to the very throne of God like sweet incense, for it pleads after the mind of the Holy One. You cry for those who hear the Gospel, that the seed of the Word might fall into good ground, that faith might spring up from the hearing of the ear, and that the Lord of the harvest would give the increase. This is a petition woven from threads of divine promise, and you do well to lay hold of these blessed cords.

Consider for a moment that precious irony in your prayer: the "foolish plan of preaching" is indeed the chosen instrument of infinite wisdom to save them that believe. Men deem it a weak and contemptible thing, a mere voice that fades upon the wind, but God has made it the power unto salvation. From the pulpit, from the open page, from the whispered witness of a faithful friend, the message goes forth, and where the Spirit breathes it becomes a voice from heaven to the soul: "I have a message from God for thee." That message, sharp as a two-edged sword, declares that the punishment of thy iniquity is accomplished. Oh, cling to this! Christ has borne the whole weight of wrath for all His people, and justice has no more to demand. When the Gospel is preached with unction, it is the proclamation that the Lamb has finished transgression and brought in everlasting righteousness.

But none can grasp this treasure except by the hand of faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God, for faith is the eye that sees the invisible, the foot that runs to the bleeding side, the hand that receives the wedding-garment freely offered. And this faith comes not from the natural soil of the human heart; it is a gift of the covenant, springing from the hearing of the Word of Christ. So when you cry for revelation, for the opening of blind eyes, for spiritual hunger to be kindled, you are pleading the very cause of God in the soul. You are asking that the promise be fulfilled: "He that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." The Lord delights to teach His own statutes. He will instruct the penitent soul to trust in the finished sacrifice, and then He will lead that soul to declare, "Thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life."

And let me press upon you this sweet comfort concerning the work itself. The text from the Psalmist runs, "I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me." Here is the secret of all true service: whether we plant or water, the Lord Himself giveth the body and the increase. He sends the laborers into His harvest, He opens the door of utterance, He makes the Word to drop as the rain, and He causes it to bring forth fruit in due season. The work is His from beginning to end. He will preserve His own from the evil one; He will give His angels charge concerning them, that they dash not their foot against a stone. The Lion of the tribe of Judah has defeated the roaring lion of hell, and the protection of the blood-bought flock is sure.

Therefore, let your prayer be mingled with a holy confidence and a continual thanksgiving, for He that invented this stupendous plan of salvation, that sent His dear Son, that ordained the preaching of the cross, and that applies the blood to the conscience, He will not fail nor be discouraged. Only see to it that you, too, do not conceal the words of the Holy One; declare His ways among the people, and talk of His wondrous works. As you plead for the hearing ear and the understanding heart, believe that the God who gave you the desire to intercede will, in His own time, satisfy that desire with a rich harvest of souls.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer rises as a sweet savor, for you ask precisely what the Father delights to give. You call it a foolish plan, this preaching of the Cross, and indeed it confounds all human wisdom, yet it is the very power of God, revealed for salvation to everyone who believes. When you plead for revelation and faith from hearing, you echo the ancient promise: the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham. Faith, then, is no late invention; it is older than the Law, the hidden foundation of all righteousness.

But take careful heed from the parable of the sower I have so often expounded. The seed of the word must fall on good ground, not only receiving it with joy but also bringing forth fruit. You pray protection from the evil one, rightly, for the thief comes to steal that seed, whether by cares, riches, or the soft neglect that leaves truth barren. Yet do not think that a right knowledge of doctrine, even the deepest mysteries of Christ’s Person, can shield you if your life remains naked. I tremble to say it, but one who has all faith and all scriptural knowledge, yet lacks the covering of holy deeds, is hurtling toward the unquenchable flame. There is no happiness like looking upon Christ with boldness, but that boldness requires a pure life as well as a pure creed.

Your request for spiritual hunger and growth is excellent, but let it extend to your hands. I hear many say, “I have children, I fear hunger, I am ashamed to beg,” and thus they make others beg. What a dreadful thing to perish by hunger, yet you dare to expose your brother to that same fate while excusing yourself? To be hungry is no disgrace; to rob the needy is ruin. If you ask angels to guard you according to the psalm, then become yourself a guardian of the poor. Then the wisdom of that foolish plan, Christ crucified and raised, truly protects you from the evil one, and the angels will bear you up until you behold salvation face to face. May God grant that we all, holding fast to the faith you have so beautifully confessed, adorn it with works that glorify Him, to whom be glory forever.
