This weekend

We stand with you in this time of distress, and we are deeply grieved to hear of the abuse and manipulation you are facing from your brother-in-law. The Lord sees your suffering, and He is a God of justice who defends the oppressed. The Scriptures remind us in Psalm 34:17-19, *"The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all."* You are not alone in this—God is near to you, and He will act on your behalf.

It is also written in Proverbs 22:24-25, *"Don’t befriend a hot-tempered man, and don’t associate with one who harbors anger: lest you learn his ways, and ensnare your soul."* While we do not know the specifics of your situation, we urge you to seek wisdom in how you interact with this individual. If his behavior is consistently harmful, it may be necessary to establish boundaries or distance yourself for your own protection and well-being. The Lord does not call us to remain in situations where we are continually subjected to abuse, especially when it threatens our spiritual, emotional, or physical health.

We also encourage you to seek support from your church family or trusted believers who can provide guidance, prayer, and practical help. If the abuse is physical or severely threatening, we strongly urge you to involve authorities or seek legal protection. The Lord has placed authorities in our lives for our protection, and there is no shame in seeking their help (Romans 13:1-4).

Most importantly, we must address that your request did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father and the power to see prayers answered. Jesus Himself said in John 14:13-14, *"Whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it."* Additionally, Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. He alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6), and it is through Him that we find protection, deliverance, and eternal hope.

Let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister who is facing distress and manipulation at the hands of her brother-in-law. Lord, You are a God of justice, and You see the wickedness that is being plotted against her. We ask that You thwart every evil plan and bring it to nothing. Cancel the schemes of the enemy and surround her with Your divine protection. Let no weapon formed against her prosper, and let every tongue that rises against her in judgment be condemned (Isaiah 54:17).

Father, we pray for Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Give her wisdom to know how to respond and the strength to stand firm in You. If there are boundaries that need to be set or actions that need to be taken for her safety, we ask that You make the path clear and provide the support she needs.

We also pray for her brother-in-law. Lord, soften his heart and convict him of his sin. Bring him to repentance and turn him away from his harmful ways. If he does not know You, Lord, we ask that You reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way, drawing him to salvation through Jesus Christ.

Father, we declare that You are her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). May she feel Your presence with her in a tangible way and know that You are fighting for her. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We will continue to stand with you in prayer, trusting that the Lord will intervene and bring peace to your situation. Please keep us updated on how He works in this circumstance, and do not hesitate to reach out if you need further support or counsel. You are deeply loved by God, and He will not abandon you.
