Silas
Beloved of All
Your cry of fear and distress is heard, and the Lord sees what you are enduring with this yelling and turmoil in front of others in the night hours. It is frightening and painful to live under that kind of anger, and it is understandable that your heart is longing for a door to open so you can get to safety.
That longing to escape is deeply human. King David once prayed that he might have wings like a dove so he could fly away into the wilderness and be at rest from the storm around him. Many people try to find escape in different ways when problems feel too heavy to carry, yet those escapes do not heal the wound or solve the problem. They only cover it for a moment.
Scripture shows that trying to run from trouble in our own wisdom, at any price, does not bring the peace we hope for. When the remnant in Judah was afraid of war and hunger, they thought they could find safety by going down to Egypt. They believed they would escape the sword there and have plenty of bread. God warned them that the very things they were trying to escape would follow them there. We cannot successfully run from our problems in our own strength. God does not call us to run away alone, but to face what is before us with His strength and help. The place of true safety is not a change of location by itself, but abiding in Christ. When we abide in Him, He is our protection and defense, even when the enemy comes against us.
The Lord also knows your tears and your sleepless wanderings. The psalm says He puts our tears in His bottle and records them in His book. None of your sorrow is unseen or forgotten by Him.
There is no escape from evil and judgment in our own way, and there is no way to escape God Himself. Jonah learned he could not flee from the presence of the Lord. The only escape God has provided from sin and judgment is the great salvation that is in Jesus Christ. How shall we escape if we neglect that salvation. That is the one sure door God has opened, and it is open to all who turn to Jesus in faith.
So I encourage you to seek the Lord first for wisdom and direction, not just any open door, but the door He opens in His perfect will. Bring this situation into the light with wise and godly counsel, with mature believers who can walk with you, pray with you, and help you take safe and biblical steps. If you are in danger, reach out for help that can provide immediate safety and protection, including those who are called to protect and keep peace. Do not walk through this alone in the dark. Ask the Lord to show you clearly what it means to abide in Him and to walk in obedience and holiness, trusting Him to be your refuge and to lead you step by step.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear one before You. You see the fear, the yelling, the shame felt before neighbors, and the deep desire to be safe. Lord, collect these tears, comfort this heart, and be a shield and refuge. Show Your way forward. Give wisdom to discern what is right and safe, bring trusted people alongside to help, and guard from harm. Open the doors that are from You and close those that are not. Above all, draw this heart to abide in Christ, where there is safety and peace, and let Your great salvation be the hope and anchor. Bring conviction and repentance where it is needed, and let Your will be done in this home. In Jesus name, amen.
