This careless person

You give thanks that the Lord spared you from harm when that truck nearly struck you, and rightly so. Every moment our life is a gift of His mercy. But consider this: if God has shown you such patience, should you not show patience to the careless one? You honked, and that was enough. Do not let anger simmer. Forgive that driver, even as you desire forgiveness for your own faults. It is easy to love those who love us, but to pray for the one who nearly did you injury, that is the mark of a Christian. When we are wronged, the Lord teaches us to show great consideration, not to demand a punishment beyond what is just. Leave that man to his conscience and to God. You were preserved; let that be enough.

Now, about these managers and the discount they withhold. You cry for justice, and indeed God hears the cry of the oppressed. But take care that your pursuit of right is not seasoned with bitterness. To call them “corrupt evil” and ask for retaliation, that is not the way of the merciful. Yes, seek lawful help. Yes, plead your cause. But do it without cursing. Do it with the humility of one who knows he too needs mercy. Nothing incenses God so much as a pitiless heart. If you want mercy on your fees and your disputes, then show mercy yourself. Forgive whatever trespass you hold against them, even the injustice. Then present your case, and let God, who loves justice, bring about what is right. Perhaps the very delay or the heat you speak of is a trial to refine your patience. God’s justice does not sleep, but He waits for you to entrust it to Him rather than to your own anger.

As for the scorching heat, it is indeed a burden. Yet let it remind you of far greater fires that mercy alone can quench. When you do deeds of kindness, forgiving debts, helping the poor, speaking gently, you store up oil that will become light for you on the day of judgment. This heat is temporary. Use it to practice endurance, and offer that small suffering to God as a prayer. He will either send a cool breeze or give you strength to bear the warmth. Do not demand that He divert it at once, but ask that He teach you what you need to learn from it.

Nothing is more characteristic of a Christian than mercy. You wish God to waive your fees, though you say it is no fault of your own. But how much more was the debt He forgave you, the sin you brought upon yourself? If He forgave that endless sum, can you not let go of a smaller wrong done to you? Show mercy now, and you will find mercy. Then the legal help you seek may come through honest means, and the insurance may relent. But even if it does not, your peace will be greater than any discount. Let your first step be to cleanse your heart of resentment, and then offer your petition with confidence. God will bless you if you do things worthy of blessing.

It is a gift of mercy that you were kept safe in that moment and were able to sound your horn. When a large truck suddenly backs up, there is so little we can do in our own strength. You cried out, and He heard. Let that near miss be a reminder that the Lord sees you and stands ready to help, even when danger comes without warning.

I hear the weight behind your words about the scorching heat and, even more, about the way you have been treated. When people in positions of authority act with cruelty and tear down what is rightfully yours, it cuts deeply. We want justice. We want fairness. And when the systems we should be able to lean on seem corrupt or indifferent, it is easy to grow weary and to wonder where real help will come from.

There is a deep pull to look for rescue from the very people or processes that have failed us. It is like trying to find shade under a crumbling wall. Scripture shows us a pattern: when we turn to human schemes to make things right by our own maneuvering, that help often becomes a shadow with no substance. Yet the Lord is not like that. He is a God of justice, and He desires righteousness to prevail. Even when earthly courts disappoint, His throne is established on right judgment.

At the same time, do not lose sight of mercy. Justice demands that every wrong be paid in full. Mercy, by its nature, forgives the debt. In our own strength we cannot hold both together, but God has done it through Jesus Christ. His sacrifice meant that mercy and truth could meet, and righteousness and peace could embrace. Bring your situation honestly before Him. You are not wrong to ask for him to restore what has been stripped away, nor to plead that the fee be waived through no fault of your own. He invites you to cast that burden at His feet.

When we come to the end of our own resources, that is often where real help begins. The apostle Paul cried out, “Who shall deliver me?” because he had exhausted every self-help formula. The answer came when he stopped striving and looked to Christ for victory. So you can say, “Lord, I need help. I cannot force these corrupt hands to do right, but You can turn hearts. I cannot bear this heat alone, but You are my shelter.” That kind of prayer is not weakness; it is the honesty of a child reaching for a Father who is strong.

As you wait, do not let the delay breed bitterness. Trust that God is not indifferent. The very fact that you are calling on Him shows He is drawing you to rely on Him rather than on fragile human favor. Remember that when the arm of flesh failed of old, and the people finally cried out to God alone, He came down with grace and brought deliverance. He is still that God. Let your hope rest there, and let your mouth be guarded from speaking what would only deepen the hurt. He is your help and your shield, and through Him you will see His faithfulness.

We are deeply grateful that you shared your burdens with us and allowed us to stand with you in prayer during such a frightening and frustrating time. It is a blessing to hear how the Lord protected you on the road—what a powerful reminder of His faithfulness even in moments of danger. We continue to lift up the situation with the scorching heat and the injustice you’ve faced, asking the Lord to bring relief, wisdom, and divine intervention. May He soften the hearts of those in authority, grant you favor, and restore what has been taken from you through no fault of your own.

If the Lord has already moved in any of these areas, we would love to rejoice with you—please share a praise report so we can give Him all the glory together. If the answers haven’t yet come, we invite you to post this request again so we may keep standing with you in persistent prayer. The Lord hears the cries of His children, and we trust He is working even when we cannot yet see it.

May He surround you with His peace, guide your steps, and remind you of His unfailing love as you continue to seek Him. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
