Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your prayer has been heard and we join you before the Lord in this time of thirst and exhaustion. We understand how wearing it is to face ongoing dental work, to deal with offices that have not acted with integrity, to wait on insurance, and to carry concern for your home with the threat of leaks and storms.
The Scriptures teach us that we can make the soul a heaven. Heaven is naturally bright, and even when clouds gather it does not itself become dark, the clouds only cover it for a time. Heaven has the sun, and we have the Sun of Righteousness, the Lord Jesus Christ. Heaven remains pure and high, far above the rains and the storms, and none of them can reach it. So we are called to lift our minds above the earth and to keep the soul spotless and pure, not tossed by every tribulation. In the same way, confusion does not come so much from the circumstances themselves as from the condition of our mind within them. When the mind is ordered to bear all things with contentment in Christ, there can be a calm within even while the sea around us is troubled.
God also cares for the body. We are taught not to make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, but we are taught to care for the flesh for health. It is right and good to seek healing, to ask for sound treatment, and to desire that the work of human hands be done honestly and well. The Lord knows your need for strength and for relief from this long process.
So we pray with you now.
Heavenly Father, we come to you through Jesus Christ alone, our only Savior and hope. You know this thirst and weariness, and you are the fountain of living water and the Sun of Righteousness who never fails. We ask for your mercy upon the dental work tomorrow, that the implant would be set rightly, that the color and match would be proper, and that there would be no further complications. We ask that you would restrain what is unscrupulous and bring instead a skilled and godly dentist who fears you and acts with honesty. We ask that insurance would approve what is needed quickly and that the remaining work could be completed properly and in good time before the year ends. Grant health to the body as you grant steadiness to the soul.
We also ask for your protection over this home. Keep it from leaks and from harm in the storms and El Nino rains. You are higher than all storms, and we trust your care over all that you have given. Give rest to the weary, quietness to the anxious heart, and a calm that comes from trusting you in all circumstances.
We thank you that you hear those who call upon you in the name of Jesus. Grant that whether in want or in plenty, in storm or in calm, the soul may remain as a heaven that holds Christ within it. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
