Disciple of Prayer
God I come to you humble. I have made a mistake and I regret it listening to my husband and not my heart. I want this beautiful home and he talked me out of it and now someone is trying to buy it. Please remove all that’s in my way and let me get it.

We join you in prayer and we hear the disappointment and regret in your heart over this home. We understand how painful it can feel to believe you missed an opportunity, especially when you feel your husband led you in a different direction and now someone else may purchase the house you desired. We want to come alongside you and your marriage and seek God's will together in Jesus' name.

We want to gently and lovingly correct a few things in your request so that you can find peace and alignment with God's Word. You mentioned listening to your husband and not your heart, and regretting that choice. Scripture teaches us that the heart can mislead us. Jeremiah 17:9 says The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt, who can know it. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths. Following our own heart's desire is not the same as following God's leading.

God has also established order and unity in marriage. Ephesians 5:22-25 says Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it. A decision about a home is to be made together as one flesh, with mutual love, respect, and prayer, not with resentment toward your husband. We encourage you to forgive your husband for talking you out of it and to release any bitterness, and we encourage you both to seek wisdom together. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Amos 3:3 asks Can two walk together, except they be agreed. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and God desires you to walk in unity.

We also want to address the way you asked God to remove all that is in your way and let you get the home. God is not a means to obtain our personal desires on demand, but a loving Father whose will is perfect. James 4:3 says You ask, and do not receive, because you ask amiss, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. Matthew 6:33 says But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Psalm 37:4 says Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart. When we delight in Him first, He shapes our desires to match His best for us. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We can bring our desires to God with thanksgiving and trust, while surrendering the outcome to Him, as Jesus prayed, Luke 22:42 Not my will, but yours, be done. Proverbs 16:9 says A man's heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. If this home is God's provision for you, no one can take it from His hand, and if it is not, He has something better and will guard you from a decision that would not be for your good.

We also noticed your prayer was addressed to God but did not mention Jesus Christ. We say this in love because there is no other way to come to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is only by the name of Jesus, through His death and resurrection, that we have access to God and the forgiveness of sins. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. We encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior if you have not already, and to pray in His name.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You for Your mercy and grace. We lift up this dear sister and her husband and their marriage to You. Lord, forgive us where we have followed our own heart instead of Your Word, and where we have held regret and resentment. Wash us in the blood of Jesus and create unity between this husband and wife. Give them wisdom together, teach the husband to love and lead like Christ, and teach the wife to respect and trust, that they may be one as You intended in Matthew 19:6. Father, we bring this desire for a home before You with thanksgiving. You know the house she has seen and the other buyer involved. If it is Your will and within Your provision and stewardship for them, we ask that You make a way according to Your perfect timing. If it is not Your will, we ask that You close the door gently and give her Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and contentment in whatever state she is in as taught in Philippians 4:11 and 1 Timothy 6:6. Help her to trust that Philippians 4:19 is true, that our God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, and that Romans 8:28 is true, that all things work together for good for those who love God. Remove anxiety and replace it with delight in You, and align her desires with Yours. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We encourage you to pray together with your husband daily about this, to openly share your feelings without blame, to seek godly counsel, and to trust God's sovereignty whether He grants this specific home or leads you elsewhere. God loves your marriage more than any house, and He will direct your steps as you acknowledge Him.

We hear how disappointed you are, and how much this home has meant to you. Carrying regret after making a decision with your husband, then watching another buyer step in, is a painful place to be.

Wanting to honor both your heart and your marriage at the same time can feel like a tug of war. It helps to slow down and get clear together before the next step, so regret does not push you into a rushed choice.

When you have a calm moment, it may help to talk openly with your husband about what drew you to this house and what concerns led him to hesitate. You could together name your shared goals for a home, take an honest look at resources and practical realities, consider what alternatives are truly available including letting this one go if needed, and then commit to a clear next action you both can stand behind and revisit together.

We are praying for you in this tension, for peace between you and your husband and for wisdom for what is best for your family going forward.

Father, we lift this sister to You and ask for Your calm and guidance over her and her husband. Give them unity, clear eyes to see the right path, and peace to trust You with the outcome whatever it is. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest and humble prayer has been heard, and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace.

There is a natural sorrow when a desire of the heart seems to slip away, and when another buyer stands ready, the heart is tempted to say as those of old said, We will go, we will buy, we will get gain, as if we could both propose and dispose without asking God's consent. Yet Scripture gently corrects us, teaching that all things are under regulation and have an appointed place in God's plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. It is not foolish to desire a home, but it is wise to hold every desire with the words, If the Lord wills.

As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, and as certainly as His will is the great heart of providence sending its pulsings through even the most distant limbs of human act, so we may rest that He is King, willing to do as He pleases, having mercy on whom He will have mercy. His will is not against you, but for your good, to change the human will and make us willing in the day of His power, working in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.

We also hear the strain between you and your husband. In marriage, which God ordained as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, husband and wife are called to walk together in love and counsel, not in regret or resentment. To listen to one another is not a failure, but part of bearing one another's burdens. If words were spoken hastily or if disappointment now lingers, bring that also to the Lord, asking for unity, for gentle speech, and for wisdom to seek counsel together before Him.

You asked that God would simply remove all that is in the way. Instead, let us learn to pray as those who trust and are not afraid. What time I am afraid, I will trust in You. And again, I will trust and not be afraid. Our Heavenly Father who feeds the ravens will not allow a soul that rests upon Him to perish for lack of daily bread, and He withholds no good thing from them that walk uprightly. If this home is the good thing He has for you, no other buyer can take it from His hand. If it is not, He has another provision which will in the end be seen as wiser and kinder.

So let us pray together not only for a house, but for a heart at rest in His will.

Our Father, we come through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved. We thank You that You see this sister, her longing and her regret. Forgive where resentment has risen, and heal where disappointment has wounded the fellowship of husband and wife. Grant to them oneness of mind and tender consideration for one another. Concerning this home, we ask not with demanding will, but with submission. If it be Your will, open the way that no man can shut, and provide with honesty and peace. If it be not Your will, close the door gently, guard this heart from bitterness, and teach contentment and trust in Your providence. Give wisdom in all buying and selling, that profit and possession would never be sought apart from promoting Your will, and that our best gain would be to do Your will. We trust You and will not be afraid, for You have promised, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

May the Lord keep you in His peace, and may you find that whether He gives or withholds, His way is best.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your humble prayer before God has been heard, and your honesty about regret is not overlooked. You came openly confessing that you feel you made a mistake in listening to your husband and now you long for this house while another buyer approaches. It is good to bring that disappointment to God rather than holding it inside.

Scripture speaks of two kinds of sorrow. One is sorrow for earthly loss that fades and leaves bitterness, and the other is godly sorrow that works repentance unto salvation, a repentance which brings no regret. It is important to ask what kind of regret is at work here. If the sorrow is only that a desired possession may be lost, that sorrow will not bring lasting peace. If God is showing you something deeper about trust, contentment, or how you and your husband make decisions together, then that sorrow can lead to growth and to turning more fully to Christ, through whom alone we have salvation.

The homilies remind us that this present life is like a sleep and the things in it are like dreams. As dreams when day comes are proved to be nothing, so many things we pursue by day are proved to be passing when seen in the light of eternity. A beautiful home can be a good gift, but even the best home in this life is still part of that dream. It does not last, and it cannot give the security and joy that only Christ gives. That does not mean your desire is wicked, but it does mean it should be held lightly and tested against what is eternal. We are called not only to watch and be sober but to be armed, so that we are not carried away by every strong desire or disappointment.

It is also unwise to ask God simply to remove all that is in your way and to give you this house at any cost. That prayer asks God to set aside the interests of others, including the other buyer, and to grant a wish without asking what His will is. God does not judge His providence by present things alone, and we are not to do so either. Sometimes He withholds what we want for our good, and sometimes He provides beyond what we expect. The faithful prayer is not, give me this house no matter what, but, Lord, give me bread to eat and raiment to put on, give me what I need for health and for serving You, and guide my steps according to Your wisdom. We are to make provision for the flesh only for what is necessary and healthy, not to fulfill restless lusts, and to spend our greater energy on care for spiritual things.

In marriage, God has joined husband and wife in a lifelong covenant. Listening to your husband is not in itself a failure, even when you disagree. Regret can easily turn into resentment if it is not handled with grace. It would be good to speak openly with him without blame, to seek unity, to pray together for wisdom, and to make future decisions together before the Lord. If you acted hastily or spoke harshly out of disappointment, bring that to God for forgiveness and to your husband for reconciliation.

So let us pray not that every obstacle be removed for the sake of this one house, but that God will give you clarity, contentment, and trust in His provision. We pray that He will help you and your husband to seek His will together, to be at peace whether this door opens or closes, and to wait patiently for His timing, knowing that He who will come will come and will not tarry. If this home is best for you in His sight, He is able to provide it. If not, He is able to provide what is better and to keep you from a choice you would later regret.

May the Lord grant you a calm heart, a sober and watchful spirit, and a deeper love for Christ who alone saves, that whether you receive this house or not, you may be able to say with a clear conscience that you sought first His kingdom and left the outcome in His hands.

Thank you for sharing your heart so openly and with such honesty about your regret and your longing for this home. It is understandable to feel torn between what you wanted and the counsel you followed, and now to feel urgency and disappointment as you see another buyer interested.

God wants to lay a foundation under your life first of His love and grace and goodness and provision for you in Christ, and then to build your walk upon it. Because you have been so loved and blessed and taught by Him, you are called to walk in love as Christ also has loved us. That includes within your marriage. If resentment is growing toward your husband for talking you out of what your heart wanted, bring that to the Lord and choose forgiveness as God has forgiven you. Love covers and restores, and it will guard your home far more than any house can.

It also helps to look honestly at the desire itself. One mark of the flesh is self centeredness, and from that comes covetousness and many other struggles. A beautiful home is not wrong in itself, but when our peace and contentment feel like they depend on getting it, we are looking in the wrong place for what only God can give. Some people look to other things to find peace or relaxation or fulfillment, but the person who is filled with the Spirit finds true peace and contentment and fulfillment in God Himself. A house cannot give you what only His presence can give.

There is a danger in trusting in the arm of the flesh, in the feeling that I can handle this or I can make this happen if God will just remove the obstacles. Scripture warns that trusting in that kind of strength is like leaning on a broken reed. It will not hold. What God desires is a heart that is in harmony with His heart and a life in harmony with His purpose and will. When you are trusting in the eternal God and in His ability and power working in you, rather than in your own strength or even in the strength of a desired possession, you come into the flow of what He wants to do. He is looking for hearts that are fully turned toward Him, and He brings strength and peace and security as you trust Him and learn His ways.

That changes how we pray. The purpose of prayer is not to get God to accomplish our will on earth, but to see His will accomplished. You can certainly bring this desire to Him, and you should, but come on the basis of His love and grace for you, not on the claim that you deserve it or that He must grant it. Like Jacob you can say you are not worthy of the least of His mercies, and still trust His promise to bless you through faith in Jesus Christ, by the covenant He has confirmed that cannot be set aside. That covenant secures His blessing for you, but His blessing is always according to what is truly good for you.

God's word abiding in you is a great defense in moments like this. It guards you against covetousness and against the enemy's attacks that would stir up anxiety, striving, and disappointment. It reminds you that you have been saved through Jesus Christ from a life mastered by the flesh, and you can stand in that salvation with faith in God's power to work in you.

So I would encourage you to pray in a different way than simply asking God to remove everything in the way. Ask Him to align your heart with His will, to give you and your husband unity and wisdom together, and to provide what is best according to His goodness. Tell Him your desire honestly, and then ask Him to open or close the door as He sees fit, trusting that if this home is His provision it will be, and if not, He has something better and will keep you from clinging to what would not be best. Ask Him to fill you with His Spirit so that your peace does not rise and fall with this situation, and to teach you more of His love so trusting Him becomes easier.

May the Lord give you a quiet and content heart, restore love and unity in your marriage, and guide every step concerning this house with clear wisdom. May you grow in knowing Him, walk in love and forgiveness, and experience His peace and joy which are found in His Son, whatever He provides next.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have been lifting up your desire for this beautiful dream home before the Lord and we understand the heaviness you feel in regretting listening to your husband instead of following your heart and the burden of knowing another buyer is now trying to purchase it. We have asked God to remove what is in your way according to His perfect will and to bring unity and peace between you and your husband as you seek His direction together. We are reminded of the promise in Prov 3:5 and in Psalm 37:4 that as we trust in the Lord and delight ourselves in Him He will direct our paths.

If your request was answered and the Lord has opened the door for this home for you please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and the home is still out of reach or the other offer is still moving forward please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son Jesus Christ.

We pray that the Father will grant you clear guidance and a deep peace that passes understanding as you trust His provision and that He will make His will known to both you and your husband whether this home becomes yours or He has another good plan prepared for you in Jesus Name we pray Amen
