Beloved of All
😴 Warning Dreams form Holy Spirit While Sleeping, Job 33:12-17; Matt 2:12, Prophecy, Joel 2:28, Numb 12:6, Acts 16:9 🧎🏽‍♂️Father, we come as little children in faith, contrary to all we see and hear, and thank You, "You are able to save forever those who come to God through Jesus, because He lives to make intercession for us," Heb 7:25, c.f. Rom 8:34.

We ask, with this husband for his wife, You give her a warning dream, as it is written in Job 33:14, "For God does speak—now one way, now another—though no one perceives it. 15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people, as they slumber in their beds, 16 He may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, 17 to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, 18 to preserve them from the pit, their lives from perishing by the sword." Again, as with the affairs concerning our father, Abraham, Gen 20:3, like him we are fully persuaded You are able to fulfill what You promise, Rom 4:21. Pour out Your Holy Spirit on her, as prophesied in in Joel 2:28, “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old will dream dreams, your youth will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days," Joel 2:28-29, c.f. Acts 2:17-18. Father, with humble confidence, give her, them, us dreams and visions underlining your will for us in Christ Jesus, as You have done from ancient times on those saved Matt 1:20, Matt 2:12, and unsaved alike, Gen 20:3, Gen 31:24, Dan 2:1, Dan 4:5, until present, Acts 19:6, and You will continue to though the future, Heb 13:8. Your arm is not too short, Num 11:23, especially to save, Isa 50:2, Isa 59:1.

Again, as little children, "we know You can do all things,"Job 42:2, That "nothing shall be impossible with God," Luke 1:27, "The things impossible with man are possible with God," Mark 10:27. Keep her, him, and us from temptation, sin, evil, wrongdoing, lies, fear, evil people, deception, and the evil one, Lk 11:4, 1 Cor 8:1, Zeph 3:13, 2 Cor 13:7, 2 Cor 11:6, 2 Tim 3:5, 2 Tim 3:13, Tit 1:16, 2 Thes 3:2, Matt 24:4, Rev 12:9, Matt 6:13, John 17:15, 2 Thes 3:3. Thank You in in advance, Mark 11:24, Heb 11:6, Jesus' Name, Amen, Rev 3:14, 2 Cor 1:20...

We join you as little children in faith together before our Father and we agree with you in this earnest request for this husband and his wife.

We love your faith and your confidence in the Word and in the living Christ who intercedes for us. As it is written, He is able also to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through Him, seeing that He lives forever to make intercession for them, Heb 7:25, and that He is at the right hand of God and also intercedes for us, Rom 8:34. We thank God for a husband who prays so diligently for his wife, for this reflects the love Christ has for His church and the calling for husbands to love their wives and to sanctify her with the Word, Eph 5:25-26.

We affirm with you that our God does indeed speak in dreams and visions when He wills. For God speaks once, yes twice, though man pays no attention. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, in slumbering on the bed, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, that He may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man, Job 33:14-17. And He said, Hear now my words. If there is a prophet among you, I Yahweh will make myself known to him in a vision. I will speak with him in a dream, Num 12:6. We remember how the wise men were warned in a dream not to return to Herod, Matt 2:12, and how Paul saw a vision in the night with a call to Macedonia, Acts 16:9, and the promise that afterward it will happen that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions, Joel 2:28, which was fulfilled at Pentecost, Acts 2:17. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever, Heb 13:8, and His arm is not shortened that it cannot save, Isa 59:1, and nothing will be impossible with God, Luke 1:37, for we know that You can do all things, Job 42:2.

We also gently encourage you to hold every dream and vision up to the light of Scripture and to test it, for the Word is our sure and final authority. We are to test the spirits, whether they are of God, 1 John 4:1, and all Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work, 2 Tim 3:16-17. A true warning dream from the Holy Spirit will never contradict the written Word, will always exalt Christ, will turn the heart from wrongdoing and keep from pride, and will preserve from the pit as Job declares. We must not seek the dream above the Giver of the dream, but seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, Matt 6:33, and let dreams confirm what He has already spoken in His Word.

We pray together now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we come to You with humble confidence. We thank You that You are able to save forever those who come to You through Him. We lift up this wife to You and this husband who intercedes for her. If it is Your will, we ask You to speak to her in the night, in a dream or vision, as You have done from ancient times, to warn, to instruct, to seal Your instruction upon her heart, to turn her from any wrongdoing, to keep her from pride, to preserve her from the pit. Pour out Your Spirit upon her and upon this marriage, that they may hear Your voice clearly and walk in Your will in Christ Jesus. Give them discernment to know what is from You and what is not, and keep them from being led astray. Keep them from temptation and deliver them from the evil one, Matt 6:13, for You are faithful, who will establish them and guard them from the evil one, 2 Thes 3:3. Keep them from deception, from fear, from lies, and from evil people, and guard them in Your truth, John 17:15. Let no plan of the enemy prosper against them, for You watch over Your Word to perform it. We ask that whatever You show them will lead them to greater holiness, greater love for You and for one another in their marriage covenant, and greater obedience to Your Word. We trust You in advance, believing that whatever we ask in prayer, believing, we will receive, Mark 11:24, for without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to You, Heb 11:6. Let Your will be done in their lives as it is in heaven, and let all the promises of God find their Yes in Christ, 2 Cor 1:20, for You are the Amen, the faithful and true witness, Rev 3:14. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Thank you for letting us pray with you for your wife. Your love for her and your confidence that God hears and is able to keep and guide comes through so clearly, and we want to stand with you in that.

We hear your longing for God to speak to her clearly and turn her from anything that would harm her. That is a good and loving prayer for a husband to pray. As you keep bringing her before the Lord, we encourage you to keep the lines of love and honesty open between you as well. Dreams can be one way God gets our attention, but He most often forms us day by day as we walk with Him, listen in prayer, and stay close to each other in truth and grace. Continuing to pray for her, and with her when she welcomes it, and sharing your concerns calmly and kindly in person, gives God room to work in both of your hearts over time.

We are praying for protection over you both, for peace in your home, and for wisdom to know how to love each other well in this season.

Father, we bring this couple before You through Jesus. Keep them from evil and draw them closer to Yourself and to each other. Give them clear minds, soft hearts, and confidence in Your care. Lead them step by step according to Your will. In Jesus name, amen.

We have heard your earnest prayer offered as little children in faith, and we join you in thanking God that He is able to save forever those who come to God through Jesus, because He lives to make intercession for us. That truth in Hebrews 7:25, with Romans 8:34, is the sure ground of our confidence, not any vision of the night, but the living Christ who pleads for His own.

You ask that the Lord would give warning dreams, and you rightly quote Job 33 where it is said that God speaks now one way, now another, in a dream, in a vision of the night, to turn man from wrongdoing and keep him from pride. We grant that Providence is wonderful in its workings. As we have noted from Matthew 27:19, a warning to Pilate came through his wife concerning her dream, and so does Providence work, arranging that with the dream there should be great mental suffering to make the warning felt. Henry Melvill well observed that Pilate was more accessible through his wife's dream than if he had dreamed it himself. Yet we must remember that such dreams in Scripture were sovereign acts of God, given at His pleasure and in His timing, whether to the saved as in Matthew 1:20 and Matthew 2:12, or to the unsaved as with Abimelech in Genesis 20:3, and they are not to be demanded as a rule of guidance.

The warning that is all that could be desired has been sounded in the Gospel trumpet. He heard the sound of the trumpet and took not warning, his blood shall be upon him. In your case the trumpet has been heard and understood, for you know the Gospel and you know that Christ alone is the way of salvation. If that warning is neglected, no excuse will avail. What we need most is not a new dream, but a heart made tender to heed what God has already spoken in His Word. The Spirit was poured out as Joel foretold and as Peter declared in Acts 2, and the sure fruit of that outpouring is that sinners are turned to Christ and saints are made holy through the truth.

Therefore we would turn your prayer, which is in many ways so scriptural, to that petition which our Lord Himself taught us, Lead us not into temptation. The word includes trial, for all temptation is trial from God, yet there is more in it, and temptation in itself is a thing very dangerous. How many have fallen who were led into temptation. Think of them not to congratulate yourselves, nor yet to blame them, but to take warning. The man who prays Lead us not into temptation and then goes into it is a liar before God. People go and say Lead us not into temptation and then they know where temptation is to be found and they go straight to it. You need not ask the Lord not to lead you there, He has nothing to do with your going. We must not for any reason desire to be tried, but must pray and then must walk as those who mean the prayer, keeping clear of the place of temptation, keeping close to Christ, keeping the Word before the eyes and in the heart.

We do rejoice that you know nothing shall be impossible with God, and that the things impossible with man are possible with God. His arm is not shortened that it cannot save. He is able to do all things. And He is able to keep His people from temptation, sin, evil, lies and deception, and from the evil one, as you have prayed from Luke 11:4, Matthew 6:13, John 17:15 and 2 Thessalonians 3:3. That keeping is wrought as we abide in Christ, the Vine, for we cannot dream of bearing fruit if we are severed from Him. Love to Jesus and love to His truth will keep the soul.

So we pray with you and for you both, husband and wife, that the Lord would in His mercy preserve you from the pit, keep you from pride and wrongdoing, and establish you in holiness. May He cause you to hear and heed His Word, to turn from every evil way, to resist the strongest temptation by the power of the Holy Spirit, and to find your whole confidence in the blood and righteousness of Christ. May He keep you from the path where temptation lurks, and lead you in the path of peace and obedience, that you may prove what is His good and perfect will in Christ Jesus.

We thank God in advance, believing that He hears prayer offered in the name of Jesus, the Amen, in whom all the promises of God are yea and amen to the glory of God. May the Lord answer according to His wisdom and love, and may you be found watching and steadfast, giving all glory to Him who alone saves. Amen.
