We hear your cry and we stand with you in prayer that the silence will indeed be broken and the truth will be revealed, for nothing is hidden from our God. The Lord sees what you are enduring and He is near to those who are oppressed. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 46:1 reminds us God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We thank you for praying in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved.
We want to speak gently but truthfully about what you have shared. What you describe from your husband and family, controlling you in every area and bringing you down, and abuse within a church, is not the pattern God has designed for family or for His church. Marriage is a sacred covenant and a husband is commanded to love his wife as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her. Ephesians 5:25 says Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it. Colossians 3:19 says Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them. And 1 Peter 3:7 calls husbands to live with their wives with understanding, giving honor to the woman. Control, harshness, and abuse that breaks a person down does not reflect this love and we rebuke that spirit of domination and oppression, for it is not from God. God desires truth and love to dwell in the home, and He calls all of us to speak the truth in love and to bear with one another in kindness. Likewise, a true church of Jesus Christ should be a place of refuge, truth, and healing, not a place of abuse or control. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.
We pray with you for wisdom for all those around you to see the truth, and for your own wisdom and discernment as you seek a healthy, Bible believing church. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. John 8:32 says You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. Hebrews 4:13 says There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do. God will bring what is done in darkness into His light. We encourage you to seek a church that faithfully preaches the whole Word of God, where the leaders shepherd with gentleness and humility, and where Christ is exalted above control. Look for a place where the Word is taught clearly, where prayer is central, and where there is accountability and grace. If you are in danger or being harmed, we encourage you to seek godly and trustworthy counsel from mature believers and safe help without delay, while you continue to guard your heart in Christ.
We now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we lift up our sister to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. You see her pain, You hear her cry, and You know every detail of the control and hurt she has endured from her husband and family and even in a church where she should have found safety. Lord, we ask You to be her refuge and fortress. Psalm 91:2 says I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust. Break the silence, Lord, and let truth shine forth. Give eyes to see and ears to hear to all those who need to understand what has been happening. Soften the hearts of her husband and family, convict them where they have acted harshly or in a controlling way, and lead them to repentance and to love as You have commanded. Heal the wounds in her heart and restore her strength. Guide her steps to a faithful, loving church where Your Word is honored, where she will be shepherded with care and not abused, where she can worship freely and grow in grace. Grant her wisdom, protection, and peace that surpasses understanding, and let her know she is deeply loved and valued by You. We ask that You make Your presence known to her daily and that You turn what has been meant to bring her down into a testimony of Your deliverance and truth. We pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to remain in the Word daily, to pour out your heart to the Lord in prayer, and to not walk this path alone. Keep seeking the truth, for God is faithful to lead those who seek Him with all their heart. Isaiah 41:10 says Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We are continuing to pray that the Lord will open doors to a safe church home and that His truth and justice and mercy will prevail in your family and marriage for His glory.
