THE SHOCKING TRUE IDENTITY OF SANTA CLAUS!
Have you ever wondered just who Santa Claus really is? Is he just a mythical being that someone made up? Does he represent the false Germanic god, Thor, who has very similar characteristics to Santa Claus…or does he really represent a more ominous being, who is real and familiar to us all? Is he just an imaginary figure made up to honor a popular and benevolent Catholic saint named Saint Nicholas…or is he really “Old Nick?†Why do so many people teach their children about Santa? Is Santa really Kriss Kringle, another name for Christ…or could he be a counterfeit Christ? Why is he so popular in the world today, capturing the love and adoration of millions? Maybe it is a good idea to discover just who Santa Claus really is!
ORIGIN OF SANTA CLAUS
“When the Dutch came to America and established the colony of New Amsterdam, their children enjoyed the traditional visit of Saint Nicholas on December 5; for the Dutch had kept this ancient Catholic custom even after the reformation. Later, when England took over the colony it became New York, the kindly figure of Sinter Klaas (pronounced Santa Claus) soon aroused among the English children the desire of having such a heavenly visitor come to their homes, too. The English settlers were glad and willing to comply with the anxious wish of their children. However, the figure of a Catholic saint and bishop was not acceptable in their eyes, especially since many of them were Presbyterians, to whom a bishop was repugnant. In addition they did not celebrate the feast of saints according to the ancient Catholic calendar. The dilemma was solved by transferring the visit of the mysterious man whom the Dutch called Santa Claus from December 5 to Christmas, and by introducing a radical change in the figure itself. It was not merely a ‘disguise’ but the ancient saint was completely replaced by an entirely different character. Behind the name Santa Claus stands the figure of the pagan Germanic god Thor (after whom Thursday was named). Some details about Thor from ancient German mythology will show the origin of the modern Santa Claus tale: Thor was the god of the peasants and common people. He was represented as an elderly man, jovial and friendly, of heavy build, with a long white beard. His element was the fire, his color red. The rumble and roar of thunder were said to be caused by the rolling of his chariot, for he along among the gods never rode on horseback but drove in a chariot drawn by two white goats (called Cracker and Gnasher). He was fighting the giants of ice and snow, and thus became the Yule-god. He was said to live in the ‘Northland’ where he had his palace among the icebergs. By our pagan forefathers he was considered as the cheerful and friendly god, never harming the humans but rather helping and protecting them. The fireplace in every home was especially sacred to him, and he was said to come down through the chimney into his element, the fire.†[H.A. WHO IS THIS THOR?
Who really is this god Thor and who does he represent? Thor was also known as the Yule god. Yule is the name of a heathen winter festival during the time of the winter solstice or December 25th, which we now call Christmas. Santa Claus is clearly now the “Yule-god†of Christmas. Those who worshipped this mythical god of fire, who carried a pitchfork and wore a red and white suit, built an altar for him in their homes called a fireplace. This god, called Thor, would descend down the chimney and into the fire of all the homes which paid homage to him, to give presents to the children living there. Another nickname for this god, named Thor, was “Old Nick.†If you look in the dictionary you will find that “Old Nick†is another term for, none other than Satan, the devil! Interesting since the Devil is also depicted as having a pitchfork and wearing red! Satan is also called the great Red Dragon in the Bible…perhaps the real reason why Santa is always depicted in a red suit (Rev. 12:3-9). Certainly the Devil would be right at home in the flames of a burning fireplace, which, to him, would be similar to the flames of a burning hell! Santa is seen in paintings and in movies riding through the sky on his sled pulled by reindeer. This is very similar to the god Thor who rode through the sky on a chariot drawn by two white goats. Interesting since the Bible depicts Satan as the “prince of the power of the air†(Eph. 2:2). The shocking truth is that Santa Claus originated from a character which can be identified as the devil or Satan!
THE YULE-GOD OF CHRISTMAS
Santa Claus has now taken over the role that the false god Thor previously held. Santa is now the “Yule-god†of Christmas. It was the Roman Catholic Church that “Christianized†the pagan heathen festival, called Saturnalia, and changed its name to Christmas. Christmas is only a counterfeit holy day established to deceptively honor a false god (Thor, Santa Claus, Satan) rather than Christ. The practice of decorating trees with images, burning candles, drinking and merriment, exchanging of gifts, and adoring Santa Claus and his elves are all pagan customs that originated in Babylon (Jer. 10:2,3). These pagan customs were created to honor the Babylonian god, Baal. Behind all the false gods, whether it is Baal, Thor, or Santa Claus, and all heathen customs, stands the devil called Satan (2 Cor. 4:3,4).
THE DEVIL’S TRADEMARK
Why does Santa Claus always announce his presence with the words “Ho, Ho, Ho?†In 1994, the Satire Magazine, “The Onion†carried a parody of Santa Claus titled “Ho! Ho! Ho! I am Godâ€
“I love visiting each and every one of your homes, stuffing your stockings with toys, and enjoying the milk and cookies you leave for me. But mostly I love Christmas because it’s the birth of my son, Jesus Christ. You see, I’m God… Don’t I look familiar? I’m old, I have a white beard, I love everyone. I’m the same God as the one you and your mommy and daddy worship on Sundays… Okay I admit it. I’m not God, But I’m better than God. I’m jollier, and I give you real toys, not boring old Psalms and empty promises you can only collect on when you die. Worship me, not Him! Worship Santa! I am God! (Santa Claus, “Ho! Ho! Ho! It was Phyllis Sieker who revealed that the devils trademark is “Ho! Ho! Ho!†“In these [miracle] plays, the devil’s common entry line, known as the ‘devil’s bluster’ was Ho! Ho! Ho!†(Sieker, Phyllis,“Santa Claus, Last of the Wild Men: The Origins and evolution of Saint Nicholas†Jefferson, McFarland & Company, Inc., 1997 p. 69).
A COUNTERFEIT CHRIST
There is one being in the universe that has always wanted to be like God. The Bible identifies him as Lucifer the fallen angel who was kicked out of heaven by God and who is now the Devil called Satan (Isa. 14:12-15; Rev. 12:9). Now on the earth, Satan is still deceiving the world and receiving their worship. As Santa Claus, Satan makes himself appear like Christ. Like Christ, Santa Claus appears to the world as a being who has “neither beginning of days or end of life but made like unto the son of God†(Ps. 102:24; Heb. 7:3). Santa passing himself off in the world as one who has the attributes of Christ and making himself out to be Christ with the German name, Kriss Kringle, meaning “little Christ child.†Like Christ he makes himself out to love children and receive them onto his lap, sitting on his royal throne, in malls and stores everywhere (Mt. 7:11; 19:14; 25:31; Mk. 10:13-16). Santa is a carpenter, like Christ was, who lives in the North and makes toys for children (Ps. 48:2; Mk. 6:3; Ezek. 8:14). The white-bearded Santa comes in the night dressed in red and white to deliver his gifts and rewards to good children who have asked him what they want (Mt. 7:7; Rom. 6:23; 2 Pet. 3:10; 1 Thes. 5:2; Rev. 1:14; 19:13-14; 22:12) These are just some of the ways that Satan mimics Christ through the person of Santa Claus.
SANTA’S HELPERS
Another very important clue as to the true identity of Santa Claus is found in his helpers. Who or what are the Elves that help Santa? According to the dictionary an Elf is: “A wandering spirit; a fairy; a hobgoblin; an evil spirit; a devilâ€. In the Encyclopedia of Witches and Witchcraft by Rosemary Ellen Guilley, the definition that she gives, on page 115, to the Elves who help Santa is that they are: “A host of supernatural beings and spirits who exist between earth and heaven…Fairies are fallen angels. When God cast Lucifer from heaven, the angels who were loyal to Lucifer plunged down toward hell with him.†Wow, so Santa Claus really is Satan, the devil, and the Elves are his host of demon spirits! The Rock star, Ozzy Osborn, confirmed this reality when he claimed that he was possessed by a demon and little elves that lived inside his head.
THE ANAGRAM
Yet another clue of Santa’s real identity lies in the anagram. “Lucifer’s true identity as Satan is revealed as the Anagram, a Transposition of letters, to obscure it. ‘Blinds’ as esoterics call them, include scrambling the letters of a name to hide the true meaning of the word from the uninitiated.†(Gail Riplinger, New Age Versions, p. 52) So according to the Anagram, Santa could be the word Satan scrambled into Santa! Sanat was another anagram used by New Age teachers to disguise their god Satan. Could “Claus†be yet another anagram for the name Lucas, a code word for Lucifer? Perhaps the name “Claus†which is also pronounced like “Claws†is descriptive of yet another characteristic of Satan…that he is a roaring lion seeking for victims to capture and destroy (1 Pet. 5:8)
THE SANTA CLAUS SNARE
Santa Claus, alias Satan the devil, comes to the world disguised as a benevolent and kind giver of gifts to mankind. For those who fall into this trap there is an ultimate price to pay. Those gifts that Satan is willing to give to those who ask him, those who adore him and worship him, all have strings attached. The Santa Claus gig that Satan offers to the world is really just another one of his vicious, evil and deceptive snares. The devil is eager to give you what you want in this life, be it wealth, power, thrills, possessions, worldly success, popularity, psychic powers, sexual gratification, or any other desire in exchange for your worship…and your soul. The devil even offered to give Christ all the kingdoms of this world, with all their power and splendor, if He would worship him (Lk. 4:5-8). Ex-Satanists testify that the devil will certainly give you anything you want in exchange for your immortal soul. Do you really want to pay that price to have anything you want in this life? The ultimate price that you will have to pay is demonic enslavement in this life and in the next life eternal torment and damnation in the flames of hell! The true God, Jesus Christ, may not give you everything you want in this life, but His gift of eternal life in a place of endless happiness, far exceeds anything Satan can offer!
THE AWFUL TRUTH!
Before I did this investigation into the identity of Santa Claus I prayerfully asked the Lord to reveal to me just who he really is! I can say now with assurance that I know the true identity of Santa Claus! The sad truth is that Satan has deceived the whole world into worshipping him in the form of a benevolent and loveable person known as Santa Claus. Satan has always wanted to be like Christ, so why not choose the same day that Christians venerate the birth of Christ, which is Christmas. We have seen from this study that all the clues given about Santa Claus point to Satan, the devil, who has always wanted to be like Christ and be worshipped as God. We have also discovered the shocking truth that Santa Claus originated from a false god that we can identify as the devil or Satan. Satan is really the creator of all false gods and the one who receives the worship from them. We have discovered also that the devil comes, often disguised as Santa Claus or some other false god, to offer people whatever worldly gift they may want in exchange for their worship and their soul. What is so dangerous about Santa Claus is the fact that parents who allow their children to believe in Santa Claus, are in reality, making a pact with the devil. Do you really want your children to grow up worshipping Satan, alias Santa Claus? Don’t be deceived friends…its far more dangerous than you might realize! Forsake the devil, avoid his deceptive traps and snares, resist his gifts and offers and don’t give in to any of his temptations! Satan’s only desire is to lure you away from Christ, steal your soul, and destroy you! Believe in the only true God, the Lord Jesus Christ, who loves and cares about you so much that He sacrificed his own life on the cross of Calvary to purchase your salvation from sin, death, hell, and the devil! Do you want the very best free gift available to mankind? Then believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, turn away from your sins, and accept His free gift of eternal life!
