The Bible tells us of "marks".And its usually associated with evil people.The mark of Cain.The mark of the beast.(antiChrist).Those were physical marks ,bus in these probable last days we see sin all around us,it came to me the main mark of the unsaved...which cause them to sin in the first place...is rebellion.When I see disrespect for,and even outright mockery,of the president,when I see if a Christian does public witnessing and those who want to continue sinning without being called out on it,and make fun of the Christian,even in a childish way ...when I see a certain political party here go so far to the left that theyre bordering on insane beliefs...then it all the more was shown to me that a rebellious spirit is the biggest enemy were dealing with.From Adam's day down to today,but because we're in the probable last days worse now.A point?

The mockery of leadership, the scorn poured out on those who boldly proclaim Christ, and the embrace of ideologies that reject God’s truth, these are all symptoms of a rebellious heart. The apostle Paul warned, "For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, not lovers of good, traitors, headstrong, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding a form of godliness, but having denied its power" (2 Timothy 3:2-5 WEB). This is the spirit of the age, and it is growing bolder.

But we must not despair. While the world rages in rebellion, we are called to stand firm in the truth of God’s Word. Jesus said, "If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you" (John 15:18-19 WEB). The hostility we face is not a sign of our failure but of the world’s rejection of Christ. We must not shrink back but continue to proclaim the gospel with boldness, knowing that the Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses even in the face of scorn.

Let us also examine our own hearts. Rebellion is not just "out there", it can take root in us if we allow bitterness, pride, or discontent to fester. The writer of Hebrews warns, "See that no one falls short of the grace of God, and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and defiling many" (Hebrews 12:15 WEB). We must guard against the subtle ways rebellion can creep into our own lives, whether through grumbling against authority, dismissing God’s commands, or aligning ourselves with worldly ideologies that contradict Scripture.

We come before the Lord now, lifting up this burden of rebellion that weighs so heavily on your heart. Father, we see the signs of the times, and we recognize the spirit of rebellion that seeks to exalt itself against You. We ask for Your mercy and grace to cover this nation and this world. Raise up men and women who will stand for truth, who will not bow to the pressures of this age but will boldly proclaim Your Word. Give us courage to be unashamed of the gospel, even when it brings ridicule. Soften the hearts of those who mock and scorn, that they may see their need for You and turn from their rebellion.

Lord, we pray for our leaders, that You would grant them wisdom and humility. Where there is corruption, expose it. Where there is foolishness, bring conviction. Where there is pride, humble them. And where there is rebellion, break its power. We ask that You would turn the hearts of this nation back to You, that we may once again honor You in our laws, our culture, and our lives.

We also pray for the church, that we would not be swayed by the spirit of the age but would remain steadfast in Your truth. Help us to love those who oppose us, to pray for those who persecute us, and to speak the truth in love. May our lives be a testimony to the transforming power of the gospel, that others may see Christ in us and be drawn to Him.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would guard our own hearts. Keep us from the subtle snares of rebellion, whether in thought, word, or deed. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may walk in obedience and humility before You. May we be quick to repent when we stray and quick to forgive when others wrong us.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach You and the only name by which men can be saved. There is no other foundation, no other truth, and no other way to eternal life except through faith in Him. We stand on that truth today, and we declare that rebellion will not have the final word. We feel that weight with you, and your observation that a rebellious spirit marks the fallen nature makes a lot of sense: from the garden onward, that impulse to go our own way has been the core struggle. When you ask “A point?” we hear a deeper question: what do we do with what we’re seeing?

We think the point isn’t just to name the darkness but to let it drive us to the only things that outlast it. Seeing rebellion can tempt us toward despair or anger, but Jesus invited us to a different response, he saw the crowds and had compassion. In these last days, our role is less about cataloging the world’s marks and more about letting our own lives be marked by love that prays, that serves, and that refuses to give up. The rebellion out there also gives us a quiet place to ask: is there any trace of that same spirit in our own hearts, a subtle resistance to God’s direction? We can turn from it and let his Spirit fill us afresh.

It is a mark, indeed, and a mark that is set deep in the forehead of our fallen race. Rebellion is the very poison of the old serpent, and it courses through every vein of the sons of Adam. The carnal mind is enmity against God: it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. You have put your finger upon the plague of our age, and of every age, that stiff-necked, proud resistance to the Most High. When you see mockery of authority, when you hear the Gospel turned to scorn, when the world rushes headlong into madness, you are looking upon the same spirit that made Lucifer lift his heel against the throne, and that made our first parents eat the forbidden fruit. Fallen angels are bound in chains of darkness because of it; men go far to rival devils in rebellion, yet still the Spirit strives. That is the wonder: that God bears with such creatures, that He has not given us up as He did the angels that sinned.

Yet remember, this mark is upon all by nature. The seed of rebellion is in every heart, and until the Spirit of God comes with quickening power, you and I are no different. The mark of the beast is not merely upon the foreheads of the openly profane; it is upon every soul that hath not the seal of the living God. And what is the Spirit's seal but the stamp of a new nature, whereby rebellion is subdued, and the heart cries, “Speak, Lord; thy servant heareth”? The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God, and where that witness is, there is a bending of the will, a dethroning of self, a glad submission to Christ as King.

Grieve not the Spirit, then, by yielding to a haughty, censorious temper while you behold the rebellions of the wicked. There is a subtle danger in seeing sin so clearly: we may begin to thank God that we are not as other men, and that is but another form of rebellion, a pride that sets up a standard of our own righteousness. No; let your observation drive you to your knees. When you see the insolence of the ungodly, remember that such were some of you. The Spirit overcame you; He can overcome them. Have you not been frostbitten, your soul like an iceberg, until the warm breath of Heaven melted you? The Spirit is sovereign as the wind: He bloweth where He listeth. He can take the most hardened rebel and make him a vessel of mercy.

Think upon the last things. The day is coming when the last census shall be taken, and the mark upon each shall declare whose they are. Those who wear the mark of rebellion shall have their portion with the fallen angels; those who bear the mark of the Lamb shall enter into joy. At the last, the pleading of the Spirit, the struggling of conscience, the calls of grace, all shall be over. Then shall the first be last, and the last first; for it is not by merit, but by the surprising grace of God that any are saved. The Lord measureth not as we measure. He passeth by the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Therefore, let not your spirit be soured. Instead, overcome evil with good. Let your light shine in the midst of this crooked generation. If they mock, blessed are ye. If they despise the truth, speak it yet more lovingly. Do you long for Christ’s appearing? Cry out with the saints of old, “Why tarry the wheels of His chariot?” But while He tarries, work. The Spirit is with you. He is no less mighty than when He first brooded over chaos and brought forth order. Pray that He would convict the world of sin, and be assured: many who now seem past hope shall yet be plucked as brands from the burning. Rebellion may be the mark of the unsaved, but it is not an indestructible chain. Grace can break it. The Son maketh free, and then ye are free indeed.

You have rightly discerned that rebellion is the foul root from which every sin springs, the very mark of our fallen nature since Adam's transgression. What you see in the brazen mockery of authority and the madness of those who despise the truth is nothing but the old serpent's venom working in the children of disobedience. Yet do not let this insight puff you up, but let it drive you to cling to the Physician who alone can heal such a plague.

Consider the wonder: our nature had fallen an incurable fall, but the Only-begotten Son, being in the form of God, took the form of a servant and pitched His tabernacle in our flesh. He did not merely visit our misery but forever united Himself to it, so that He might stamp anew His image upon us by the washing of regeneration. That rebellious spirit you lament was overthrown not by force of arms but by the obedience of the Mediator, who partakes fully of both God and man. In Him the proud rebellion of Adam is undone; therefore, the point is not merely to spot the disease in others but to see that the only cure is Christ formed in us.

Beware, then, of a twofold danger. On the one hand, do not be like a reed shaken by the wind, thinking that the world's insolence somehow defeats God's purpose. Remember John the Baptist: neither by nature fickle nor enervated by luxury, he stood firm though surrounded by a wicked court. The true mark of the saved is not a noisy condemnation of the darkness but a steady, sober mind that flees the childish spectacles of this age. An old man in gray hairs chasing after the foolishness of the crowd is a mockery; how much more absurd when those who bear the name of Christ run with the world's frenzied rebellion. Let your gray hairs of faith be matched by a mind that is mature, rooted in the knowledge of the truth.

On the other hand, do not let the impudence of rebels lead you to despair of their souls. There is indeed a sin beyond repentance, a fall so hard that it offers no place for a second renewal. But while the breath of life remains, the Church does not treat the fallen as hopeless. He who terrifies the standing lest they fall also stretches out a hand to the fallen lest they be swallowed by despair. The very rebellion you see is a ghastly proof that they are still estranged from the one God and the one Mediator, the Man Christ Jesus. Your task is not to return insult for insult but to hold fast the gospel by which they too might be snatched from the fire. For the same mighty Hand that raised up the tabernacle of David when it was fallen can yet raise those who seem utterly enslaved to lawlessness.

Let the rebellion you mourn compel you to greater earnestness in prayer and a more urgent witness, not with carnal weapons but with the gentle boldness of Him who, being Lord of all, took the lowest place. That is the mind we must have: counting no honor a prize to be grasped, but humbling ourselves, so that the image of God may shine in us and silence the madness of the disobedient.

You've named something true. Rebellion is the deep mark of our fallen nature. From the garden onward, the human heart has chosen self-will over God's authority. That's why we see mockery, moral confusion, and the hatred you described toward faithful witness. The Bible itself tells us that in the last days this will intensify: scoffers will openly ask where the promise of Christ's coming is, and many will follow their own desires in deliberate defiance. So what you're observing isn't just a political or cultural shift, it's the nature of sin showing itself more plainly.

But there's more to the story. The same Scriptures that diagnose the problem also give us the only cure. We all inherited that rebellious nature from Adam, and left to ourselves, we're comfortable in it, like a creature wallowing in what its nature calls for. Jesus said we must be born again. When we put our faith in Him, He gives us a new nature. Suddenly sin becomes foreign. A born-again person can still stumble, but the rebellion no longer fits. It's miserable, and we come right out of it.

So the mark isn't just something to see on others. Our first question must be, "Do I have this new nature?" If we find we're at home in rebellion, no matter how religious we seem outwardly, we need to turn to Christ. And when we see rebellion in others, our response isn't just frustration. It's compassion, because we know the only way anyone can change is by being born from above.

Yes, the days are dark, and they will darken further before the Lord returns. But God has not abandoned His timeline. He is pouring out His Spirit, calling people from every background into a life that doesn't bow to anything but Him. That includes people you might think are too far gone. Our hope isn't in a political party or in the strength of our witnessing techniques; it's in the risen King who will one day put an end to all rebellion and make the world new. Until then, we live as people who have a different nature, shining His light in the very places that seem most hostile. Keep grieving the sin, but don't let it harden into hopelessness. God is still saving rebels, and that's what every one of us was.
