The letter

Your prayer, Lord have mercy, has been heard and we join our voices with yours before God.

To cry for mercy is to come to God as He truly is, compassionate and full of loving kindness. Scripture reminds us that mercy does not come because we have willed it or run hard enough to earn it, but because God Himself shows mercy. It is His grace that forgives, His compassion that moves Him to remit the whole debt when we could only ask for more time, and His kindness that not only delivers us from evil but gives us so many good things besides through Jesus Christ.

We do not come to Him on the ground of our own works, for where grace is, it is not of works, and where we have received forgiveness and been made right with Him, it is entirely the gift of God in Christ. That is our hope. The one who is forgiven is called blessed, because all shame is removed and glory is given in its place.

We pray now that the Lord would look upon you with that same heart of compassion, that He would grant you repentance where it is needed, faith to trust fully in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, comfort in temptation, and strength to walk in His ways. May He show you His mercy, teach you to show mercy and love to others, and keep you in the communion of His Spirit.

We will continue to pray that you know His forgiveness, His peace, and His power to live according to His good will. May you obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
