We hear the deep anguish in your words, and we join you in mourning the moral and spiritual decay that has taken root in the leadership of your nation. The Scriptures warn us repeatedly about the dangers of idolatry—whether it be the worship of foreign gods, the elevation of man-made systems above God’s law, or the pursuit of greed and power at the expense of the vulnerable. The prophet Jeremiah spoke to a people who had turned away from the Lord, saying, *"For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the spring of living waters, and cut them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water"* (Jeremiah 2:13, WEB). Your government has done likewise, exchanging the living God for broken systems that cannot sustain or protect its people.
The favoritism shown to foreigners while neglecting the citizens—especially the young, the elderly, the poor, and the needy—is a grievous sin before the Lord. Scripture commands leaders to *"execute justice and righteousness, and deliver the robbed out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong. Do no violence to the foreigner, the fatherless, or the widow; nor shed innocent blood in this place"* (Jeremiah 7:5-6, WEB). Yet what we see here is the opposite: the oppressed are trampled, the innocent are exploited, and the foreigner is exalted not out of justice, but out of a misplaced and destructive idolatry. The Lord abhors such injustice, and His Word declares, *"Woe to those who decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers who write oppressive laws, to deprive the needy of justice, and to rob the poor among my people of their rights, that widows may be their plunder, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!"* (Isaiah 10:1-2, WEB).
Even more alarming is the repeal of laws that once upheld God’s standards for morality, such as the prohibition of homosexual acts and the protection of the unborn. These are not mere political issues—they are spiritual rebellions against the Creator. The Bible is clear: *"You shall not lie with a man as with a woman. That is detestable"* (Leviticus 18:22, WEB), and *"Whoever sheds man’s blood, his blood will be shed by man, for God made man in his own image"* (Genesis 9:6, WEB). Abortion is the shedding of innocent blood, and its legalization is an abomination that cries out to heaven for justice. A nation that embraces such sins invites the judgment of God, for *"righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people"* (Proverbs 14:34, WEB).
The corruption of elections through gerrymandering and the suppression of votes is yet another manifestation of the deceit and wickedness that have taken hold. The Lord detests dishonest scales and false measures (Proverbs 11:1), and He will not be mocked by those who seize power through deceit. The prophet Micah warns, *"Woe to those who devise iniquity and work evil on their beds! When the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. They covet fields, and seize them; and houses, and take them away: they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage"* (Micah 2:1-2, WEB). Your leaders have done this and more, and they will answer to God for their actions.
Yet even in this darkness, we are not without hope. The Lord calls His people to repentance, prayer, and boldness in standing for truth. We must remember that *"the king’s heart is in the Lord’s hand like the water courses. He turns it wherever he desires"* (Proverbs 21:1, WEB). Though the situation seems dire, our God is sovereign, and He can turn the hearts of even the most wicked rulers if His people humble themselves and pray.
Let us pray together for your nation, its leaders, and its people:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts, grieving the sins of our nation and the idolatry that has taken root in its leadership. Lord, You are a God of justice, and You have seen the oppression of the poor, the neglect of the vulnerable, and the shedding of innocent blood. You have heard the cries of Your people, and we ask that You would rise up and act on their behalf. Turn the hearts of those in authority, Father, and bring them to repentance. Expose the corruption, the deceit, and the wickedness that have been hidden in high places. Let the truth prevail, and let righteousness be established in the gates of our land.
We pray for the young, the elderly, the poor, and the needy who have been forgotten and belittled. Comfort them, provide for them, and raise up advocates who will speak for them. Lord, forgive us as a nation for turning away from Your laws and embracing what is detestable in Your sight. Forgive us for the blood of the innocent that stains our land, and for the pride that has led us to worship created things rather than the Creator.
We ask for a great spiritual awakening in our nation. Stir the hearts of Your people to pray, to fast, and to stand boldly for Your truth. Raise up godly leaders who will fear You and govern with integrity. Let the schemes of the wicked be exposed and brought to nothing, and let Your will be done in our land as it is in heaven.
Father, we also pray for those who have been deceived by the lies of this world. Open their eyes to the truth of Your Word, and draw them to Yourself. May they turn from their wicked ways and find forgiveness and redemption in Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12, WEB).
We rebuked the spirits of idolatry, greed, deceit, and rebellion that have taken hold in our nation. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command these spirits to be bound and cast out. We declare that our nation belongs to You, Lord, and we ask that You would reclaim it for Your glory.
Finally, Father, give us the courage to stand firm in these days. Help us to speak the truth in love, to shine as lights in the darkness, and to trust in You even when the world around us seems to crumble. Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9, WEB).
We ask all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Brothers and sisters, do not lose heart. The battle is the Lord’s, and He is faithful. Continue to pray without ceasing, to speak the truth boldly, and to live righteously before God. Remember the words of the apostle Paul: *"Be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places"* (Ephesians 6:10-12, WEB). Stand firm, and trust that the Lord will vindicate His people.
If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so today. He alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6, WEB), and there is no other name by which we can be saved. Turn from your sins, believe in Him, and you will be saved. The time is short, and the need is urgent. May the Lord bless you and keep you as you seek His face in these troubled times.
