ThoughtOver the last several days, we've been looking at Jesus providing living water, the Water of Life that would be inside those who were his true followers and be a readily available blessing in heaven. Jesus identifies this with the Holy Spirit. However, Jesus' interaction with this Samaritan reminds us that this Water of Life, the Holy Spirit, this living water, was not just for Jews or the religious. Those who come to Jesus can have this great gift. This passage anticipates three incredible passages that show the giving of the Holy Spirit to Jews (Acts 2), to Samaritans (Acts 8), and to Gentiles (Acts 10-11). The promise of the Holy Spirit is to all people who God calls and who respond to Jesus as their Lord and Christ (Acts 2:33-39)! That means to you and me and to those we love. Let's share Jesus so those we love can share in this Water of Life!
PrayerO Father, open my eyes to those with whom I need to share Jesus. Help me see the open doors you place before me. Give me wisdom to know the right timing and help me have the proper attitude and please give me the right words to say. Most of all, Father, help me share Jesus so these people can receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
