The former landlord's Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol!!

We join you in prayer for this difficult and painful situation and we thank God for the sister who has faith in Jesus and who seeks to be a light in her family.

We pray that the Lord will strengthen her and continue to speak through her, that her life will be a godly influence and a witness to her brother. We remember the word that says Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven Matthew 5:16 and that Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend Proverbs 27:17. We ask that God give her wisdom, courage, and love to speak the truth in love, and that her brother would have ears to hear and a heart willing to be changed.

We also bring before the Lord the serious matters you have raised about the life threatening condition of the apartment that was rented to you. We pray that the truth will not remain hidden, for the Scripture says Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them Ephesians 5:11 and For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light Luke 8:17. We pray that God in His mighty power will expose what has been done in darkness, bring it into the light, and bring justice and protection where it is needed. We pray for your safety and peace, and we encourage you to also seek help through the proper authorities where your life and safety are at risk, for God has established authorities for the protection of life Romans 13:1.

We must also address the sexual relationship you mentioned between the former landlord and the immoral woman. According to Scripture this is outside of God's design for marriage and is to be rebuked. Marriage is honored by God as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and any sexual intimacy outside of that covenant is fornication or adultery which God calls sin. The word says Flee sexual immorality Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman would be convicted of this sin, that they would turn from it in repentance, and that they would pursue holiness and put God first in their lives. We also pray for you that you would not harbor hatred but would trust God's justice, for Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay says the Lord Romans 12:19, and to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you Matthew 5:44, while still praying that evil deeds would be stopped and that no further harm would come to you.

We also join you in praying that both the brother and sister will put God first and that every idol will be exposed and destroyed. The Lord commands You shall have no other gods before me Exodus 20:3 and we know that idols of money, power, lust, or self will only bring destruction. We pray that our Mighty and Powerful God will tear down every idol in their hearts and in this situation, and that they would seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness Matthew 6:33. We pray that God alone would be enthroned in their lives.

So we pray together now, in the name of Jesus Christ, for only through Him do we have access to the Father, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.

Father in heaven, we lift up this sister to You, strengthen her faith, fill her with Your Holy Spirit, and let her words and life be a powerful testimony to her brother. Lord, open her brother's eyes to the seriousness of renting a dangerous dwelling to another person and to the sin of sexual immorality, bring him to repentance and to a true fear of You. Expose the truth that has been kept in darkness, protect our friend who was placed in danger, and let no plan to do harm succeed, for You are our refuge and fortress Psalm 91:2. Destroy every idol that stands against You in these lives, and let Your truth and righteousness prevail. Bring conviction where there is sin, bring healing where there is hurt, and let Your will be done. We ask all of this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We hear how heavy and frightening this season has felt for you, especially with concerns about your housing and feeling unsafe. It makes sense you would want truth to come to light and want the sister who loves Jesus to keep walking faithfully and be a steady, godly influence in her family.

We are praying with you that she continues to seek the Lord and live out her faith in a way that reflects His character, and that God in His wisdom brings what needs to be known into the light in His timing. We can't control how others will respond to that influence, but we can entrust both the brother and sister to God and ask Him to draw each of them to put Him first and to let go of anything that takes His place.

When fear about safety is lingering, it helps to not carry it alone. Father, we lift this dear one to You and ask for Your protection, peace, and clear guidance. We have heard your cry and we bring it before the throne of grace with you, asking our Father to hear according to His perfect will and wisdom.

We join you in praying for the sister of your former landlord. We thank God for her faith in Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and we pray that the Lord will continue to teach her as His pupil and make her His witness. May she come to God's Book as a little child willing to be taught by God's Spirit, and may she have grace to declare His wondrous works with boldness and love. We pray that the Lord will give her clear eyes and a faithful tongue, that she may speak the truth in love and that her influence, under the hand of God, may be used to call her brother to account and to seek his good.

We pray also for your former landlord, that God would put it upon his heart to put God first in all things. We pray that every idol would be exposed and destroyed, for the Word says, Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Whatever has taken the place of God, whether gain or pleasure or the fawning or frowning of men, we ask the Lord to reveal it and to bring him to repentance and to faith in the blood of Jesus Christ which cleanses from all sin. We pray that he would not be allowed to walk in darkness concerning the condition of the apartment he rented to you. If that dwelling was life threatening, we ask the Lord to bring the truth into the light, that what has been hidden may be made known, and that justice and mercy may be done.

Concerning the sexual relationship you have mentioned, we cannot ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for sex belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. We pray instead that both parties involved would see this as God sees it, that they would turn from it, and that they would seek forgiveness through Christ alone. We pray that the Lord would cleanse and renew, and that holiness would be sought above all.

We also hear your fear regarding those who you believe sought to harm you. We pray for your safety and preservation, for our God is a Father who pities His children and hides His people in the day of trouble. We pray that the Lord would be your ark of safety and your defender, and that He would restrain all evil intent. We pray that if wicked plans have been made, God in His sovereignty would expose them and bring them to nothing, and that you would be kept from all harm. We encourage you to overcome evil with good, as the Scripture says, and to fly at once to the blood of the Atonement for cleansing and for strength to walk in holiness, trusting vengeance to the Lord who judges righteously. Where there is danger or wrongdoing, we pray you will also seek protection and help through the lawful means God has provided.

May the Lord grant you peace as you wait upon Him, give you a Word out of God's mouth by which you may live, and keep you close to Christ who was not turned aside from His purpose and who will not forsake His own. We pray that you and all concerned would return unto the Lord with whole hearts, that He may return unto you, and that you may be found among His jewels in the day when He makes up His treasured possession.

We have heard your prayer and we join you in bringing it before the Lord who sees what is hidden and judges with both justice and mercy.

We pray for the sister who has faith in Jesus, that God will strengthen her and continue to speak through her, and that she will walk in wisdom and courage. We ask that the Lord give her clear eyes to see the truth about what has happened, that nothing harmful or life threatening will remain hidden from her, and that her influence for good will be used by God to call her brother toward repentance and the fear of the Lord.

We also pray for your former landlord, that God will lead him to put Christ first and to turn from every idol. Scripture warns us that we cannot serve two masters and that covetousness is idolatry, for it makes a god of gain and of our own desires. Where greed or love of money or any other appetite has taken the place that belongs to God alone, we pray that God will expose it and destroy its power, so that he may be set free to serve Christ alone. We pray that both he and those around him will forsake every form of sexual immorality and live according to God's design, where marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and where sexual union belongs only within that covenant. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His will, but to bring conviction, repentance, and new obedience.

Concerning the apartment that endangered your life and the serious wrongs you have suffered, we pray for your protection and for truth to be fully revealed. We ask that God, who is mighty and powerful, will bring what is done in darkness into the light, and that lawful justice will be done. We also urge you to entrust vengeance to the Lord and to pursue what is right through lawful and orderly means, showing restraint even as you seek justice, and remembering that God mingles mercy with justice and calls us to do the same.

We pray that you will be guarded from speaking evil in a way that would bring judgment upon yourself, but that you will speak the truth with love and leave final judgment to God, by whose words we will all be judged. May the Lord keep you in safety, establish you in His peace, and teach all involved to seek first His kingdom, to flee idolatry, and to walk in holiness through Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom alone is salvation, cleansing, sanctification and justification by the Spirit of our God.
