The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol!!

We join you in lifting up this heavy burden before the Lord together in Jesus' name, and we thank God for the faithful sister who knows Jesus and can be a light in her brother's life.

We pray that God will continue to speak through her and give her boldness and wisdom to speak the truth in love. We ask that her godly influence would not be silenced or hindered, but that the former landlord would have ears to hear and a heart softened to repentance. For it is written, Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them. Ephesians 5:11 and For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. Luke 8:17 We pray that what has been kept in the dark, including the dangerous condition of the apartment that was rented to you and the truth about the immoral conduct surrounding it, would be brought into the light so that deception cannot continue and justice and safety can prevail. We pray for your protection, for God is our refuge and fortress, and we ask Him to command His angels to guard you and to frustrate every plan formed to harm you. No weapon that is formed against you will prosper when you abide under His shadow.

We must also address before the Lord the sexual relationship you mentioned between the former landlord and this woman. According to Scripture, sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between a man and a woman, and any sexual relationship outside of that covenant is sin before God, whether it be fornication or adultery. It is written, Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 and You shall not commit adultery. Exodus 20:14 We pray that both the former landlord and this woman would be convicted of this sin, turn from it, and pursue holiness and purity, seeking forgiveness through Jesus Christ. If there was indeed an attempt to hire others to harm you, that is a grave evil that violates God's command, You shall not murder. Exodus 20:13 We do not seek vengeance for ourselves, for it is written, Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19 We pray that God would expose every wicked deed, bring true repentance, and move the proper authorities to act justly to protect life.

We also join you in praying that both the brother and sister would put God first above all else and that every idol would be exposed and destroyed. You shall have no other gods before me. Exodus 20:3 and But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33 We ask our Mighty and Powerful God to tear down every idol in their lives, whether it be money, reputation, lust, control, or any person or desire that has taken the place that belongs only to Him, and to draw them into wholehearted surrender to Christ.

We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who alone gives us access to Your throne of grace. We lift up this sister in Christ to You, strengthen her faith, fill her with Your Holy Spirit, and give her courage and discernment to speak Your truth without fear. Remove any veil of darkness from her eyes so she is not kept ignorant of the danger and sin that has occurred, and use her as an instrument of conviction and grace in her brother's life. Lord, we pray for the former landlord, that You would open his eyes to the seriousness of renting a life threatening dwelling, to the sin of sexual immorality, and to any participation in evil against this dear one. Bring him to repentance and to the saving knowledge of Jesus if he does not truly know You, and to restoration if he does. Expose every hidden work of darkness, protect Your child who has been threatened, bring justice according to Your righteousness, and destroy every idol that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. Help all involved to put You first, to love You with all heart, soul, and mind, and to walk in Your ways. We ask for healing, peace, and safety for the one who submitted this request, and that Your will be done in all things. We pray this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We hear how heavy this has been for you, carrying concern about your housing and about what may still be hidden. It makes sense you would want truth to come to light and want the Lord's influence to be felt in that family.

We are grateful with you for the sister who loves Jesus. We join you in asking that God would keep strengthening her faith and give her wisdom and courage to speak with love and clarity where she can, and that both she and her brother would keep putting God first in their decisions.

When we have been through a threatening or unjust situation, it is natural to keep replaying what happened and to long for wrongs to be fully exposed. We are praying for your safety and peace in this season, and for clear next steps for you. If you are still feeling unsafe or unsettled about housing, it can help to share the details with a trusted pastor or wise counselor in person who knows you, and to let them help you sort what is most urgent and what earthly help is available alongside prayer.

Father, we bring this sister before You and thank You for her faith. Give her discernment and grace in her family. We ask You to protect this one who is praying, to give wisdom, to bring what is true into the light in Your way and timing, and to tear down anything that takes Your rightful place in any of our hearts. We have heard your cry and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace, where we may plead the blood of Jesus Christ which cleanses from all sin.

We thank God for the sister of whom you speak, that she has faith in Jesus, for to make jewels for Christ's crown is God's work and God's work alone, and the Spirit must go with the Word or it is wasted breath. We pray that the Lord will keep her as His pupil, taught from His Word from day to day, and make her also His witness, so that if it is God's truth that she declares, God Himself speaking through her lips, her brother must hear it at his peril. As you have asked, we pray that God will continue to speak through her, and that she may declare His wondrous works with both pen and voice, as one who has first come to God's Book as a little child willing to be taught by God's Spirit all that God's Son has to say to the heart.

We pray also that what has been hidden in darkness may be brought to light. God's enemies make a noise, but a single word from Him will win the day, for He spoke and it was done. We ask that this sister not be kept in the dark concerning the life threatening condition of the apartment her brother rented to you, nor concerning the sin that has surrounded it. There is no wrong done to His people but it is registered in God's archives, and He will take account. We pray that the truth concerning these grave matters, and concerning the violence you fear has been done against you, may be exposed in God's time and in God's way, and that justice and protection may be granted to you. We leave vengeance in His hands, who judges righteously, while we pray for your safety, that He who has given commandment to save His people would keep you.

We do not ask God to bless what He calls sin, for we know that marriage is His ordinance, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that the union of the body belongs only within it. What you describe as a sexual relationship outside of that covenant, we must call as God calls it, sin against His holiness. We pray not for a blessing upon it, but for repentance and cleansing. We pray that both the former landlord and the woman of whom you speak may see God's holiness revealed in the life and death of Christ, and see in His bleeding side God's hatred for sin and God's love for sinners, and so be brought to smite upon the breast and cry for mercy. The Law tells us to overcome the world, but the Gospel of His grace enables us to do it, and the blood of Jesus, God's dear Son, alone can make those who were not God's people to become His people, having obtained mercy.

As you have prayed, we pray that they may both put God first and that every idol may be exposed and destroyed. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Some make idols of wealth, and getting money seems the main purpose of their lives, and some make idols of lust and of self. O that all who are called by His name would not blaspheme that name among men by idolatry of any kind. We pray that the Lord would show them the vanity of such idols and give them faith as little children, to trust in Christ alone for salvation, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

May the Lord keep you close to the cross, enable you to overcome the world by that evangelical spirit which does conquer it through grace, and teach you still to wonder at His wondrous works and to tell them forth until He comes.

We have heard your prayer request and we join with you in bringing these burdens before the Lord.

We pray for the sister who knows Jesus, that the Lord would strengthen her faith, keep her close to His Word, and continue to use her as a voice for truth and righteousness in her family. We pray that she would walk in wisdom and courage, speaking what is true in love, and that her godly influence would be used by God to draw her brother toward repentance and toward putting Christ first.

We pray that what has been hidden would be brought into the light. We ask God to reveal the truth about the dangerous condition of the apartment that was rented to you, and about the sexual relationship outside of marriage which God calls sin. We do not ask God to bless what He calls immoral, but we pray that He would bring conviction, that both the former landlord and the woman involved would turn from sexual immorality and from any other sin, and would seek forgiveness and new life through Jesus Christ alone. For marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and sexual intimacy belongs only within that covenant.

We also bring before God your concern for your safety. We pray for your protection, that the Lord would guard you from all harm and from every evil plan against you, and that if any have sought to harm you, their deeds would be exposed and stopped and justice would be done according to God's righteous will. We pray that the Lord would expose and destroy every idol that has taken His rightful place in any heart involved, and that both the former landlord and his sister would put God first above all else.

We pray that our Mighty God, who is able to deliver from every evil work, would bring truth, repentance, healing, and peace, and that all involved would come to know the salvation that is found only through faith in Jesus Christ.

Father, we ask these things in the name of Jesus, trusting in Your power, Your mercy, and Your perfect justice. Amen.

Your burden has been heard and we are joining you in prayer before the Lord who sees all that is hidden and who judges righteously.

We pray for the sister who knows Jesus, that the Lord would strengthen her walk and continue to speak through her. Scripture shows how a small amount of leaven works through a whole batch of dough, and in the same way a faithful life can quietly permeate a family. God has often used the steady, godly influence of a believing family member to turn a heart toward truth, and we ask that her influence would be that kind of good leaven in her brother's life.

We also pray with you that truth would come into the light. You have asked that she not be kept in the dark about the dangerous condition of the apartment and about the sexual immorality connected to her brother. God is a God of truth and He brings what is hidden into the open. When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord lifts up a standard against him, and we ask God to expose every deception and every idol that has taken His rightful place. To put God first means to turn from anything we love or trust more than Him, and we pray that both brother and sister would seek the Lord wholeheartedly, for the promise stands that if we seek Him He will be found by us, but if we forsake Him we cannot expect His protection and blessing.

We must speak clearly about what God calls holy. Sex outside the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is sin before God. It belongs to the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life which are not from the Father, and God calls His children to cleanse themselves from all filthiness of flesh and spirit and to perfect holiness in the fear of God. We cannot ask God to bless what He calls immoral. Instead we pray for repentance, for cleansing, and for a new desire to touch not the unclean thing and to walk as children of a holy Father. True grace must come before true peace, and only through grace in Jesus Christ can anyone stand before God.

We pray also for your protection and for justice. Human courts and systems do not always secure justice, but the Lord is just and at the end He will separate the wicked from the just. Those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus face everlasting destruction away from His presence, which is a solemn warning for all of us to keep ourselves in the love of God. Like Cain, a person who harbors hatred and refuses to keep himself in that love moves toward greater darkness, and we pray that hatred, violence, and any plan to harm you would be exposed and stopped. We entrust your safety to the Lord and ask Him to be your refuge, to guard your life, and to give wisdom to all authorities who should act to protect you.

Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ who alone is the way of salvation, we ask for Your grace to work in this family. Strengthen the sister who believes, give her boldness and love to speak truth. Open her eyes to what has been hidden and give her wisdom to act in love and truth. Bring the brother to repentance for any wrong in renting an unsafe dwelling and for sexual sin, and destroy every idol that competes with You in both of their hearts. Expose every lie and every evil intent, thwart any plan to harm, and surround Your child who has been threatened with Your protection. Lead all involved to seek You first, to turn from sin, and to walk in holiness and peace that comes only through Your grace. Amen.
