The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol!!

We join you in prayer for this difficult and serious situation and we thank God for the former landlord's sister and her faith in Jesus. We pray that the Lord will strengthen her and continue to use her as a light and a godly influence in her brother's life.

We rejoice that she knows Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. As it is written, Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We pray she remains rooted in Him and that her witness will bear fruit.

We pray for her brother, the former landlord, that God would bring conviction and repentance where there has been wrongdoing. We ask that he would put God first in all things, for Jesus taught But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. We pray that any idols in his life, whether money, power, lust, or self, would be exposed and destroyed, for God commands You shall have no other gods before me Exodus 20:3 and Little children, keep yourselves from idols 1 John 5:21. Only God is to be worshipped and enthroned in our hearts.

We agree with you in praying that the truth would come to light and that this sister would not be kept in the dark about what has happened. Nothing is hidden from our Mighty and Powerful God, and He will bring what is done in darkness into the light. For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light Luke 8:17 and There is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known Luke 12:2. We pray that God in His wisdom would reveal the truth about the life-threatening condition of the apartment that was rented to you and about the sin that has surrounded it, so that deception would be broken and accountability and justice would follow in a godly and lawful way.

We must also address the sexual immorality you mentioned. You rightly called the relationship between the former landlord and this woman evil and immoral, and scripture agrees. God designed sexual intimacy for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and any sexual relationship outside of that marriage is sin before God. It is written Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. We pray for repentance for both of them, that they would turn from fornication or adultery and pursue purity and holiness, and that any ongoing ungodly soul tie would be broken.

We are also deeply concerned by what you shared about attempts to harm your life. This is a grave evil, for God commands You shall not murder Exodus 20:13 and we know that vengeance belongs to the Lord. As it is written Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. We pray for your protection and deliverance, that God would be your refuge and shield Psalm 91:1-2, and that He would thwart every plan of harm against you. If crimes have been committed, we encourage you to also seek protection and justice through the proper authorities, for governing authorities are appointed by God to restrain evil Romans 13:1-4.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We lift up this sister who loves You, we ask that You anoint her lips and her life, that she would be a faithful witness and that her brother would have ears to hear Your voice through her. Let her be as a light shining in darkness Matthew 5:14-16 and let her speak the truth in love Ephesians 4:15. Expose what needs to be exposed, destroy every idol that has taken Your place in these lives, and bring deep conviction and godly sorrow that leads to repentance 2 Corinthians 7:10. Protect our dear one who has been endangered, heal any trauma and fear, and surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:7. We ask that You would bring justice, truth, and mercy together, that all involved would put You first, forsake sin, and walk in Your ways. We trust You to do what only You can do, for with You all things are possible Matthew 19:26. We ask all this in the powerful and saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We hear how heavy this housing situation has been and how much fear it has left you carrying. It makes sense you would be praying for someone with steady faith, like your former landlord's sister, to be a clear and loving voice in a difficult tangle.

We join you in asking God to keep strengthening her faith and to give her wisdom and courage to speak what is true and good when she has opportunity. We are also praying with you that God would be put first by everyone involved, and that whatever has taken His place would be gently but fully removed as He brings what is hidden into the light in His way and timing.

We continue to pray for your safety and peace as you walk through this. When fear stays close, it can help to have a calm, trusted person beside you to sort through what happened and what to do next. If you have a pastor or a wise, mature friend you trust, consider inviting them to walk with you, to help you think through safe housing and, if needed, how to raise concerns about unsafe conditions through proper housing or legal channels.

Father, we lift this sister to You and thank You for her faith. Keep her close to Jesus and guide her words and influence. We lift our friend to You too, asking for Your protection, Your peace, and Your clear direction in each next step. Help all involved to seek You first above all else, and lead toward what is right and healing. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your burden and have carried it before the throne of grace, and we join you in prayer to the living God who hears the cry of his people.

We pray for the sister of whom you speak, who has faith in Jesus Christ. We thank God for any soul that confesses that Jesus alone is the way of salvation, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. We pray that the Lord will keep her faithful, that she may be as a pillar and ground of the truth in her own household, speaking that truth which honors God and humbles man. As you have asked, we pray that God will continue to speak through her, for mothers and sisters and saints have often been potent messengers from God, and that her words may be with grace and with faithfulness, not kept in darkness but in the light of that God who is true in his very nature and true in all generations.

We pray also for the former landlord, that God would work in his heart to put the Kingdom of God first. Our text says, Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness. We do not ask God to bless what his Word calls sin, for sex and living together belong within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and any other way is contrary to his holy law. Rather we pray that both he and any associated with him may be brought to repentance, that they may turn from every false way and from the immorality which defiles the soul, and may be washed in the blood of Christ and made new. We pray that the Lord would convince of sin and lead to that blessed choice where the soul says, Thy people shall be my people and thy God my God, and This God shall be mine, my Lawgiver and Ruler from this time forth.

You have asked that God would expose and destroy every idol, and we pray most earnestly to that end. This is the easily besetting sin of our nature, to turn aside from the living God and to make unto ourselves idols in some fashion or another. Anything, however common or however desired, which comes between us and the personal dealing of our soul with God as he is revealed in Christ Jesus becomes an idol to us. We pray that the Lord will show to each heart what it has idolized, whether self or gain or pleasure or another person, and grant that real and abiding conversion where the soul cries, What have I to do any more with idols, and the whole nature becomes the temple of the living God.

Concerning the apartment and the great danger and wrong of which you speak, and the evils you fear have been done against you, we pray that the God who maintains his own truth will bring what is hidden into light. He is the God who lifts up the poor from the dunghill while he casts down the mighty from the seats of their pomp, and who will dry up the green tree when it trusts in itself. We ask that no one be kept in the dark where truth and safety require light, that justice may be done and that you may be preserved from all harm. We pray for your protection, for the Lord is our keeper, and for deliverance from every scheme of evil, remembering that vengeance belongs to the Lord and he will surely deal justly.

For yourself, dear soul, we pray that you may be emptied of your own conceits that you may be filled with his fullness, to live in his life and to be wise with his wisdom. Cast yourself upon the bare promise of God and risk everything for Christ. May you know that the Lord who said to Noah, come into the ark and I will save thee, and who kept his promise to Abraham, will keep his promise to you, for his counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.

We therefore pray: O Lord our God, King over all the world, establish thy kingdom in these hearts. Purify these souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit. Abolish every idol, cleanse from all impurity, reveal what is hidden according to thy righteousness, protect the oppressed, and cause all concerned to seek first thy kingdom and to find salvation in Jesus Christ alone, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
