The former landlord's Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol!!

We hear your burden and we join you in bringing this entire situation before the Lord together in Jesus' name. We thank God for the former landlord's sister and for her faith in Jesus, and we pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen her and use her as a light and a witness within her family.

We pray that God will speak clearly through her and that her godly influence will not be in vain. Jesus said You are the light of the world, a city located on a hill can't be hidden Matthew 5:14, and we ask that her life and her words would shine that light into darkness. We pray that the truth about the life threatening condition of the apartment that was rented to you will not remain hidden from her. For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light Luke 8:17. We ask that our Mighty and Powerful God would expose what has been kept in the dark, as it is written Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them Ephesians 5:11, and that He would protect you from all harm and bring justice according to His perfect will.

We must also address before the Lord the sexual relationship you mentioned between the former landlord and this woman. Scripture is clear that God honors marriage and calls His people to holiness. Marriage is to be honored by all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. Flee sexual immorality, every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. Sex outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication, and if either party is married to another it is adultery, and it is sin before God. We pray that the former landlord would be convicted of this, that he would turn from sexual immorality and from any entanglement with evil, and that he would pursue repentance and a life that honors God, seeking a godly marriage as God designed it to be a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, rather than relationships that dishonor Him. We also pray for this woman, that if she has done evil and sought to harm you, that God would expose those deeds, bring her to repentance, and stop every plan of harm, for we know that the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them Psalm 34:7 and that vengeance belongs to the Lord Romans 12:19.

We join you in praying that both the brother and sister would put God first above all else. Jesus taught But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33. We pray that every idol in their lives and in this situation would be exposed and torn down, for God has said You shall have no other gods before me Exodus 20:3 and Dear children, keep yourselves from idols 1 John 5:21. Whether the idol is money, property, reputation, or an ungodly relationship, we ask our Mighty and Powerful God to reveal it and destroy its hold, so that their hearts would be fully surrendered to Christ.

We lift you up as well and ask for God's protection, peace, and wisdom for you as you seek truth and safety.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. We thank You for the sister who knows You and we ask You to fill her with boldness, discernment, and love to speak Your truth without fear. Keep her from being kept in the dark, open her eyes to what has happened with the apartment and with her brother's choices, and use her influence to lead him toward repentance and holiness. Convict her brother of any sin, including sexual immorality, and turn his heart to put You first. Expose every hidden thing, destroy every idol, and let Your justice and mercy prevail. Protect the one who has been harmed and threatened, cover them with Your hand, guide them to wise and lawful steps for their safety, and let them rest in Your power and love. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to walk in truth and light, to trust that God sees all and will bring what is hidden into the light in His timing, to pray for the salvation and repentance of those who have done wrong while also taking wise steps to protect yourself and to seek help from proper authorities regarding any life threatening housing conditions or threats to your life, and to keep putting God first in your own life, knowing He is faithful to guard and guide those who trust in Him.

We hear how heavy this housing situation has been for you, and how unsafe it has felt. It makes sense you would be praying for someone with faith close to your former landlord to be a voice for truth and care.

We are joining you in prayer for his sister, that the Lord would keep strengthening her walk with Jesus and give her wisdom and clarity in how she relates to her brother. We are also praying for your former landlord, that both of them would put God first and seek what honors Him, and that anything that has taken God's place would be brought into the light.

We also hear the fear you have carried about the apartment and about the woman you mentioned. We will not assume details we cannot know, but we do pray for your safety and peace, and that truth would be clear to all involved. If you continue to feel unsafe where you lived or in general, it can help to talk with a trusted pastor or counselor and, where needed, with local housing or community resources who can look at the situation with you in person.

Father, we lift this sister to You and ask You to keep her close to You and guide her words and influence. Your petition has been heard and we have carried it before the throne of grace, where mercy still pleads for sinners through the blood of Jesus Christ.

We will pray for this sister who professes faith in our Lord Jesus, that the Lord will keep her faithful and make her to be a clear voice for truth and holiness. May she walk with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with her conscience sprinkled by that blood which alone cleanseth from all sin, and may the Lord give her courage to speak what is right in love, not flattering sin but calling to repentance. We will ask that no darkness may hide what ought to be known, and that what has been done in secret concerning this dwelling and the wrongs you have suffered may be brought to light, for God will in His own time expose every idol and lay bare every hidden thing, that men may turn from them and put Him first.

We will pray also for your former landlord and for the woman you name, not that God would bless a union which His Word calls sin, for we cannot ask the Holy One to smile upon what He calls unchastity, but that God would grant them both repentance unto life. The heart is a den of evil, and out of it proceed evil thoughts and fornications and all manner of uncleanness, and none can sweep it clean by his own hand. Only the blood of Jesus Christ can wash away such stains, however black the crimes may be, and only His grace can make an unholy life to be forsaken and a new life to be begun. We will pray that they may see the exceeding evil of sin against the thrice holy God, and that they may flee to Christ who bore the justice due to sinners, that being justified by His wounds they might live unto holiness. Fornication and all uncleanness belong not in the life of those who would put God first, but marriage honourable in all, being the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all else must be repented of and forsaken.

Concerning the great wrongs and dangers you describe, we will entreat the Lord to be your keeper and your shield, and to turn even this evil to His own eternal purpose for your good and His glory. Yet we must remember that we are not to overcome evil with evil, for that way increases the evil and injures our own souls more than any injury received from others. Vengeance belongs unto the Lord, and justice is His. We leave retribution to Him who judges righteously, and we ask grace for you to overcome evil with good, committing your cause to Him who once suffered unjustly and now reigns, and seeking lawful and rightful means for protection and truth to be established, without returning railing for railing.

May the Lord teach you to rest not upon your own strength, for you are as clay upon the wheel, but upon the everlasting arches of divine mercy which can sustain all the weight of trouble and backsliding and an evil heart of unbelief. May He justify you by faith in Christ, and give you peace in knowing that justice has been satisfied at the cross for all who come to Him, and that He who permitted this trial can make even persecution to be as a wave that speeds the course of His people toward joy.

We will pray that every idol be cast down, that Christ alone be enthroned in every heart concerned, and that you may be kept in perfect peace, your mind stayed upon Him.
