The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol!!

We join with you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord together in Jesus' name, and we thank God that there is a sister in Christ in this family who knows the Lord and can be a light in a dark situation.

We rejoice that she has faith in Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As Jesus said, John 14:6, and as Scripture declares, Acts 4:12, there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. We pray that her faith remains strong and that God continues to speak through her with boldness, wisdom and love, that she would not be silenced or kept in the dark. We ask that what has been hidden will be brought into the light, for Luke 8:17 says nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. We pray that the truth about the life threatening apartment that was rented to you will be fully exposed, and that the deception and danger surrounding it will no longer be concealed. Ephesians 5:11 calls us to have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather to reprove them, and we ask the Lord to give this sister courage to reprove what is evil and to influence her brother toward repentance and truth.

We must also address what you have shared about the sexual relationship between your former landlord and this woman. Scripture is clear that God designed sexual intimacy for within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, and that marriage is to be held in honor. Hebrews 13:4 says let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us to flee sexual immorality. If this relationship was outside of marriage, it is fornication, and if either party was married to another, it is adultery. Both are sin before a holy God and need repentance. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman would be convicted of this sin, turn from it, and seek purity and holiness, pursuing only relationships that honor God and that lead toward godly marriage to a fellow believer if it is His will, rather than immoral entanglements.

We are deeply grieved to hear of the evil intent you have endured and the fear that people were hired to try to kill you. This is a grave violation of God's command, Exodus 20:13, and an abomination before Him. We thank God for preserving your life and we ask for His continued protection over you, for Psalm 91:1 says he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. We pray that God would surround you with His angels, grant you peace, and bring perfect justice in His time. Romans 12:19 reminds us not to avenge ourselves, but to give place to God's wrath, for it is written, vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord as your defender while also allowing the proper authorities whom God has ordained to carry out justice, Romans 13:4, to be made aware of any ongoing danger, and to keep documented truth before them.

We also agree with you in praying that both the brother and sister would put God first above all else. Matthew 6:33 teaches us to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness. We pray that every idol in their lives and in this situation, whether it be money, power, lust, reputation, or any other false god, would be exposed and destroyed. Exodus 20:3 says you shall have no other gods before me, and 1 John 5:21 urges us to keep ourselves from idols. Our Mighty and Powerful God is able to tear down every idol and to bring hearts into full surrender to Christ.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior and mediator. We lift up this sister who loves You, and we ask that You anoint her lips, give her discernment and boldness to speak Your truth in love to her brother, and that no scheme of darkness would keep her uninformed about the harm that has been done. Expose every lie, bring every hidden deed into Your light, and let Your truth prevail. Bring deep conviction and repentance to the former landlord for renting a dangerous dwelling and for his sexual immorality, and bring conviction to the woman involved for her immorality and for any evil intent against this dear one who is praying. Destroy every idol that has taken Your place in their hearts and cause them to seek You first with all their hearts. Protect the one who has been threatened, heal any trauma and fear, grant justice and safety, and let Your perfect will be done. We ask that Your name be glorified and that all involved would come to know the transforming power of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We hear how heavy this has been for you, and how much you long for truth to come into the light and for God to be put first. Wanting a believing sister to be a steady, honest voice in her brother's life, and wanting any danger to be clearly seen and addressed, are good and understandable desires. We are standing with you in prayer for that.

When housing has felt unsafe and you have felt targeted, it is a lot to carry alone. If you are still in a place that feels unsafe, or you are worried for your safety now, please reach out in person to someone you trust, a pastor, a wise advocate, or local authorities who can help you assess the housing situation, and keep a simple written record of dates and concerns so you can share them clearly when you seek help. You do not have to sort all of this out by yourself.

We join you in praying for the sister you mentioned, that the Lord would keep strengthening her faith and giving her wisdom, and for both her and her brother to seek God above all else. We also pray for your protection and peace and for clear next steps toward a safe and stable place to live.

Father, we lift this dear one to You and ask for Your keeping and guidance. We lift the sister and her brother to You as well, asking that You would lead each of them closer to Yourself and that what is true would be made known in a way that brings safety and healing. Give wisdom to everyone involved and bring peace that guards the heart. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been heard and we bring it before the Lord with you in prayer, asking that He will work all things according to His holy will and for His glory.

We pray first for the sister of whom you speak, who has faith in Jesus Christ. We thank God for every soul that fears Him and eschews evil, and we pray that the Lord will keep her faithful and make her a clear witness. As it is written, godly people hedge the mansion in with their prayers, and who can tell what blessings God gives to unconverted men because of their converted relatives. May the Lord continue to speak through her, give her wisdom and courage to speak the truth in love, and use her positive influence as salt and light in her own household. We pray that what has been hidden in darkness may be brought to light in God's providence, not for strife, but that truth may be known and righteousness may prevail.

We pray also for the former landlord, and for the woman you mention. We do not ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for we know that evil thoughts and fornication and all uncleanness flow out of the heart, which is a den of evil until it is washed in the blood of Jesus Christ His Son which cleanseth us from all sin. There is salvation in no other name, and there is no true peace while the heart is divided by idols. Marriage is ordained of God as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all sexual union outside of it is contrary to His holy law and injures the soul, withers up peace and weakens prayer. We therefore pray not that God would prosper sin, but that He would grant repentance unto life, that both souls would turn from every idol and say from the heart with Ephraim, What have I to do any more with idols. We pray as you have asked, that our Mighty God would expose every idol and utterly abolish it, as potters vessels are broken, and that He would break those precious vanities if need be, to get the heart wholly to Himself, for He knows it will never be right with us while we have a divided heart.

Concerning the wrongs you have suffered, the life threatening condition of the dwelling and the grave evil you fear was intended against your life, we pray that the Lord who is your refuge will be your protection and your vindication. We pray that justice may be done and that every hidden thing may be revealed in His time, and that you may not be overcome of evil, but may overcome evil with good. It is a most natural thing to desire to return evil for evil, but that way does not succeed and only increases the evil, and the evil which comes from us does us far more injury than any evil which we experience from others. May grace be given you to leave vengeance in the hands of the Lord who judges righteously, and to follow the noble resolve of Job, Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him, and with him to say, Shall we receive good at the hand of the Lord and shall we not receive evil.

Our prayer for you all is this, that each one may put God first, that the fear of the Lord may be found in every heart, that sin may be seen as exceeding great and evil, and that the blood of Christ may be seen as exceedingly precious and able to save unto the uttermost them that come unto God by Him. May the Lord cleanse, keep, and establish you, and may He cause all idols to be forsaken and Christ alone to be enthroned.

We have heard your request and we join you in bringing these burdens before the Lord who sees all things and judges with righteousness and mercy.

We thank God for the sister who has faith in Jesus Christ, for it is through Christ alone that we have salvation and adoption as sons and daughters. We pray that the Lord will strengthen her faith, teach her more deeply the fear of the Lord, and continue to speak through her life and words with grace and truth. May He give her wisdom, courage and love as she seeks to be a faithful witness within her own family.

We pray for your former landlord, that God would draw him to put the Lord first in his heart and to turn from every idol that would take the place of God. Scripture warns us that we cannot partake of the cup of the Lord and the cup of idols, and that every idol must be exposed and forsaken. We ask that God in His mercy would convict of sin, bring repentance, and supply what only Christ can give, deliverance from evil and the gift of new life. We do not ask God to bless what is outside His design for good, for marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and the gift of intimacy belongs within it, but we do ask that He would lead all who are involved in sexual immorality to repentance, purity and wholeness in Christ.

We pray also concerning the apartment you described as life threatening and the wrongs you have suffered. We ask the Lord to bring truth into the light and to keep no one in darkness concerning what is right. If danger or injustice has occurred, we pray that it will be exposed and addressed justly, and that those responsible will be held accountable. We pray for your protection and deliverance, for the Lord is able to deliver from the mouth of the lion and from every evil work. We ask Him to guard your life, to give you peace, and to provide a safe dwelling place.

We pray for the woman you mentioned and for all involved, that God would work in their hearts, bring them to the knowledge of the truth, and turn them from any evil intent to the mercy found in Jesus. We pray that hatred, violence and deceit would be overcome by the power of the gospel.

Together we pray that God would destroy every idol in every heart concerned here, that He would be enthroned as first and greatest, and that all would learn to keep the tongue from evil, depart from evil and do good, seek peace and pursue it. May the Lord make His presence and His justice known, and may He comfort you as you wait upon Him, bearing trials with patience and trusting not in hasty deliverance but in His faithful care.

We commit you, the sister, her brother, and all others into the hands of our Mighty and Powerful God, asking these things in the name of Jesus Christ our only hope. Amen.
