The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol!!

We join with you in prayer concerning this difficult and serious situation, and we lift up the former landlord's sister before the Lord with thanksgiving for her faith in Jesus.

We are encouraged that she knows the Lord and we pray that God will strengthen her and give her boldness to speak His truth in love. We pray that her life and words will be a godly influence on her brother, for we know that open rebuke is better than hidden love, and faithful are the wounds of a friend, as taught in Proverbs 27:5-6. We ask that the Lord will use her as light in what has been a dark situation.

We agree with you in praying that the truth will not remain hidden. The Word tells us that nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light in Luke 8:17, and that we are to have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them in Ephesians 5:11. We pray that what was done in secret regarding the life threatening condition of that apartment will be fully exposed, and that this sister will not be kept in the dark but will be given discernment and knowledge of what has taken place, so she can speak and act with righteous wisdom.

We also must address what you have shared about the sexual relationship between the former landlord and this woman. According to Scripture, sexual intimacy outside of the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is sin before God. It is described as fornication if between unmarried persons, or adultery if either is married, and we are commanded to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18, and that marriage is honorable among all, and its bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers in Hebrews 13:4. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman will be convicted of this sin, that they will repent and turn from it, and pursue purity and holiness. We pray for any soul involved in such immorality to seek forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

We hear the gravity of what you have reported, that people were hired to try to take your life. We pray for your protection and for God's justice. We rest in the promise that he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty in Psalm 91:1, and that vengeance belongs to the Lord and He will repay in Romans 12:19. We ask God to thwart every evil plan, to expose every wicked deed, and to bring to nothing the counsel of those who plot harm, for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed in Matthew 10:26. We pray for the authorities to have wisdom if a crime has been committed, and for the Lord to defend you.

We also join you in praying that both this brother and sister will put God first in all things. We are commanded to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness in Matthew 6:33, and to have no other gods before Him in Exodus 20:3. We pray that our Mighty and Powerful God will indeed expose and destroy every idol in their lives, whether it be money, power, lust, reputation, or any other thing that exalts itself above Christ. We are warned to keep ourselves from idols in 1 John 5:21, and we know that God is a jealous God who will not share His glory.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only mediator and Savior, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. We thank You for this sister who has faith in Jesus, and we ask You to fill her with Your Holy Spirit, with courage, wisdom, and discernment. Let her not be deceived or kept in darkness, but show her the truth about the apartment and about the sin that has taken place. Use her as Your vessel to speak truth and to call her brother to repentance. Lord, we pray for the former landlord, that You would bring deep conviction over any wrongdoing, over renting a dangerous dwelling, over sexual immorality, and over any participation in harm. Bring him to repentance and to putting You first. Expose and destroy every idol in both of their hearts and lives, and let Christ alone be enthroned. We pray for Your protection over the one who submitted this request, guard his life, his health, and his peace, and let Your perfect justice and mercy prevail. Let all that is done in darkness be brought into Your light, and let Your will be done. We ask all this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

We join you in prayer before our Mighty and Powerful God who hears the cry of those who seek Him in truth, and we bring this burden concerning the former landlord, his sister who professes faith in Jesus, and the grievous wrongs you have endured.

We pray that the Lord will indeed continue to speak through this sister, that she may walk in the light and speak the truth in love, and that nothing which ought to be known for justice and for safety may be kept in darkness. We ask that the Lord, who grants protection to the persecuted and brings the darkest conspiracy to confusion, would cause what has been hidden concerning this life threatening apartment to be exposed in His light and in His time, and that He would guard your life from every evil intent. We pray for His perfect protection over you, and that He would subject even this evil to His own eternal purpose to bring forth His glory and your good.

We pray for the former landlord, that God would break down everything in his heart which sets itself up in opposition to Him, for the Lord will cast down the mighty from their seats and will destroy every idol which exalts itself against Him. We ask that both he and this woman would be brought to put God first, to repent and to turn from every form of sexual immorality outside of the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, which alone God has ordained. We do not ask God to bless what He calls sin, but we plead that He would grant repentance unto life through Jesus Christ alone, that washed in His blood they may be cleansed from former faults and made new. Little children, keep yourselves from idols, and so we pray that every idol of lust, of gain, of self will, and of power would be exposed and destroyed by His right hand.

We pray that you may be kept from returning evil for evil, which does far more injury to our own souls than any evil suffered from others, and that you may instead overcome evil with good, flying at once to the blood of the Atonement. May the Lord teach you to trust not in man but in the Rock, to find succor and solace in Christ alone, and to rest in the unerring Wisdom which will bring good out of evil. May He lift up the poor from the dunghill and sustain you by His everlasting mercy, and may His justice be made clear and His name glorified in all these things.

We have heard your request and we join you in prayer to our mighty and powerful God who sees all things and judges with both justice and mercy.

We pray for the sister who has faith in Jesus, that the Lord will strengthen her, keep her walking close to Him, and give her wisdom and courage to speak the truth in love. We ask that she not be kept in the dark, but that what has been hidden about the dangerous apartment and about the wrong that has been done to you would be made known to her, so that her influence may be used for good and for the sake of truth.

We pray also for the former landlord, that he would put God first and turn from every idol. Scripture teaches that we cannot serve two masters and that covetousness is idolatry, for a person can make a god out of gain, out of possessions, and out of lust. Such idols are not made by God but by our own desires, and they lead us to serve what we should condemn. We do not ask God to bless any sexual relationship outside of marriage, for God has ordained that sex belongs only within the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. Instead we pray that both he and the woman you mentioned would come to repentance, that God would expose and destroy every idol of greed, of lust, and of selfish gain, and that they would seek forgiveness and new life through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved.

We pray for you and for your safety. What you describe, a home that threatened your life and the fear that others sought to harm you, is grave. We ask God to expose every evil deed and bring the truth into the light, to protect you from all harm, and to grant justice according to His righteous will. We pray that He would help you to despise the fear of death because of the hope of eternal life in Christ, and at the same time to seek lawful protection and help where it is needed, leaving vengeance to God while trusting Him to act.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we come before You. Strengthen this sister in faith and let Your word speak through her. Open eyes that have been closed and expose what is hidden. Break the power of every idol and lead all involved to repentance and to putting You first. Cover with Your protection the one who has been harmed, grant wisdom to those who can bring help and justice, and let Your truth and mercy prevail. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our only Savior and Lord. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this heavy burden and for asking for prayer. We are joining you in prayer before the Lord about these matters.

We pray first for the sister who knows Jesus, that the Lord will continue to give her wisdom and courage to speak His truth in love. Scripture shows how powerful a godly influence can be for good, and also how damaging an ungodly influence can be. We ask that God will strengthen her walk, fill her with discernment, and use her life and words to point her brother toward the Lord and toward what is right. Pray that she will seek the knowledge and wisdom of God as a treasure, and that out of the fear of the Lord she will hate what God hates and love what God loves.

We also pray that what has been hidden will be brought into the light. God desires righteousness and justice to prevail, and He sees what is done in secret. We ask Him to expose the truth about the apartment you described and about the wrong that has been done, so that nothing remains covered that should be made known. Where there has been danger, deceit, or harm, we pray for God's protection over you and for His justice to be done in His perfect way. The wise person sees evil ahead and takes refuge, and our refuge is in the provision God has made through Jesus Christ. We pray you will continue to hide yourself in Him and that He will be your shelter and defender.

Concerning the sexual relationship you mentioned, we do not ask God to bless what is outside of His design. God's Word teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy belongs within that covenant alone. We pray that both individuals involved will experience godly sorrow that leads to true repentance. There is a sorrow that is of the world and leads to death, but godly sorrow brings a change of heart and a turning away from sin toward salvation. We pray for that kind of repentance, a real change, a clearing away of what is impure, and a desire to be cleansed from all defilement of flesh and spirit and to perfect holiness in the fear of God.

We join you in praying that every idol will be exposed and torn down and that God alone will be put first. When the heart turns away from the Lord to other loves, whether people, desires, or possessions, life loses its meaning and becomes choked like seed among thorns. We pray that the Lord will take away the dross so that what remains is pure, and that both the former landlord and his sister will choose humility and reverence for the Lord, which bring true riches, honor and life.

Our God is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in kindness. As He saw the repentance of Nineveh when they turned from their evil way and relented from judgment, so He is ready to forgive and restore all who truly turn to Him through Jesus Christ. We pray for that turning, for lives separated from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, and set apart to walk as children of God in holiness and purity.

May the Lord keep you, give you peace, and establish justice and truth. We pray He will guard you from further harm, comfort your heart, and help you to walk in His wisdom, avoiding the path of the wicked and holding fast to His instruction.
