The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol!!

We join you in prayer concerning this heavy burden and we bring it before our Mighty and Powerful God together in Jesus' name.

We thank God for the former landlord's sister and for her faith in Jesus. We pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen her and speak through her with boldness and grace, that she would be a light in her family. We ask that God give her wisdom and discernment and courage to speak the truth in love, for we know that faithful are the wounds of a friend, Proverbs 27:6, and that we are called to have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather to expose them, Ephesians 5:11.

We pray with you that the truth about this life threatening apartment and all that has been hidden will come to light and that this sister will not be kept in the dark. For the Lord has promised that nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light, Luke 8:17, and that everything that is hidden will be revealed in due time, Luke 12:2. We ask God to expose every deception and to bring justice and protection where there has been danger and wrongdoing.

We must also address what you have shared about the sexual relationship between the former landlord and this woman. According to scripture, sexual intimacy outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication and if either party is married to another it is adultery, and God calls us to flee sexual immorality, 1 Corinthians 6:18. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. We pray that both the former landlord and this woman will be convicted of this sin, that they will repent and turn from it and pursue purity and holiness, and that any such ungodly relationship would end. We pray that they would honor marriage as God designed it, for marriage is honorable among all and the bed undefiled, Hebrews 13:4.

We also lift up your concern that people were hired to try to kill you. This is a grave evil before God, for He commands you shall not murder, Exodus 20:13. We pray for your protection, that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty, Psalm 91:1, and that no weapon formed against you will prosper. We pray that God will frustrate every evil plan and expose those who plot harm, and we entrust all vengeance and justice to the Lord, for it is written vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, Romans 12:19. We encourage you to continue to seek protection and to let the governing authorities fulfill their God given role to punish wrongdoing, Romans 13:4, while trusting the Lord to be your defender.

We agree with you in praying that both the landlord and his sister will put God first in all things. We pray that they will seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, Matthew 6:33, and that every idol in their lives and in this situation will be exposed and destroyed. God has said you shall have no other gods before me, Exodus 20:3, and we are warned to keep ourselves from idols, 1 John 5:21. Whether the idols are money, power, lust, control, or self, we ask our Mighty God to tear them down and to bring true repentance and surrender to Him.

So we pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our only mediator and Savior, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. We lift up this sister to You, fill her with Your Holy Spirit, give her words of truth and love, and use her positive influence to draw her brother toward repentance and righteousness. Let no darkness remain hidden, Lord, shine Your light on the condition of that apartment, on every immoral act, and on every plot of harm, and bring the truth into the open. Protect Your child who has been endangered, surround them with Your angels, grant them peace and safety, and lead them in Your will. Destroy every idol that exalts itself against You and help all involved to put You first, to turn from sexual immorality and violence, and to walk in Your ways. We trust You as our refuge and judge, and we ask all this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We have been lifting your situation before the Lord and we hear how heavy this has been to carry, the worry over your housing and the fear you have felt for your safety. It makes sense you would long for someone trustworthy to know the truth and to speak into it.

We are thankful with you for the former landlord's sister and her faith in Jesus. We are praying God continues to give her wisdom and courage, and that any influence she has would be used for good and for honesty. We are also praying with you that what has been hidden would be brought into the light in God's way and timing, and that both the landlord and his sister would seek to put God first above all else.

If you are still concerned about the safety of where you live or feel threatened, we encourage you to reach out to a trusted pastor and to appropriate local resources for housing and safety who can look at the practical facts with you, alongside our prayers.

Father, we bring our brother or sister to You and ask for Your protection, peace, and clear direction. Guard them from harm and calm their heart with Your presence. Give wisdom to the sister to walk faithfully, and work in every heart involved to seek You first. Lead toward truth and toward what is right and safe, and help our friend rest in Your care. Your burden has been laid before the Lord and we join you in seeking His face concerning it.

We pray for the sister of whom you speak, who has faith in Jesus Christ, that the Lord will keep her and speak through her with clearness and grace. May she be kept near to the fountainhead, drinking from the pure fountain and turning from the broken cisterns, cleaving to God and to God alone. We pray as the apostle John exhorted, Little children, keep yourselves from idols, that she may be preserved from every idol and may dwell safely in communion with Christ, coming out more and more from the world and nearer to her Saviour, that her life and testimony may be a true light in her family.

We pray for her brother, the former landlord, that the Lord who cries after the sinner, Sinner where are you, would startle him from lethargy and put sensibility into his conscience. Where there has been concealment and darkness, we ask that God who sees all and from whom no sin is hidden would bring truth into the light. If a dwelling was rented that endangered life, and if wrong has been done, we pray that it would not remain hidden but would be exposed and dealt with in righteousness. We ask for your protection and deliverance from every evil intent and from every attempt to harm you, for our God is the God of the hills and the God of the valleys, and no impenitent sinner shall escape the rod of His justice, yet He is mighty to save those who turn to Him.

Concerning the immoral relationship of which you speak, we do not ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, for sex belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. We pray instead for repentance and forsaking of sin, that both souls involved would hear the voice of Grace and turn from self assertion and from making light of the Word of God. We pray that the death warrant which God has gone out against everything that is of the creature and of the flesh would be felt in the conscience, and that redeeming grace and dying love would ring the death knell of lusts and idols.

With you we pray that both would put God first. Our Lord has said, Seek you first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. May the helm of their lives be put into the hands of God, that to glorify Him and to promote righteousness would become their master passion. We pray in the sovereignty of His promise, Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols, that every idol would be abolished, that the Lord Jesus would get and fill the heart, and that soon as faith sees the Lord bleeding on the Cross, all idols would depart.

We ask our Mighty and Powerful God to expose and destroy every idol, to grant true repentance through faith in Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we must be saved, and to establish His peace which is solid and abiding because it is founded on eternal Truth. May He grant you safety, justice, and conformity to His will, and may resignation to His wise providence and love for His holy Law give you great peace.
