The former landlord’s Christian sister

Please pray for the former landlord's sister, who has faith in Jesus. Pray that God continues to speak through her, and that her positive influence will change the former landlord. Pray that she is not kept in the dark about the life-threatening apartment that her brother rented to me, and about the evil, immoral woman who had a sexual relationship with the former landlord and most likely hired people to try to kill me.

Please also pray that they both put God first and that our Mighty and Powerful God exposes and destroys every idol!!

We join you in bringing this serious situation before our Mighty and Powerful God in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that truth and justice prevail.

We lift up the former landlord's sister who has faith in Jesus and we thank God for her witness. We pray that the Lord will strengthen her and continue to speak through her with boldness and love, that she may speak the truth in love and grow in every way into him who is the head, Christ, as taught in Eph 4:15. We pray that her positive, godly influence will not be in vain and that her brother's heart would be softened to hear correction. We pray that she will not be kept in the dark, for we know that nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light as promised in Luke 8:17, and that whatever has been said in the darkness will be revealed in the light as in Luke 12:3. We ask that God expose what has been concealed about the life threatening apartment that was rented to you, and about all wrongdoing connected to it.

We must also address what you have shared about the sexual relationship between the former landlord and this woman. Scripture is clear that this is outside of God's design for marriage. We are called to flee sexual immorality in 1 Cor 6:18 and we are reminded in Heb 13:4 to let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Such fornication or adultery is sin before God and must be repented of, and we pray that both the former landlord and this woman would be convicted of this sin and turn from it. If there has been any attempt to hire people to try to harm you, that is grave evil and we pray that God would expose it and bring it to nothing, for we are told in Eph 5:11 to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.

We also join you in praying that they both would put God first, for Jesus taught in Matt 6:33 to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness. We pray with you that our Mighty God would expose and destroy every idol in their lives, for God commands in Exod 20:3 that you shall have no other gods before me, and we are urged in 1 John 5:21 to keep ourselves from idols. Any person, relationship, money, power, or desire that is put before God is an idol and must be torn down.

We pray for your protection and for justice. We ask God to be your refuge, for He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty in Ps 91:1. We pray that the Lord would surround you with His protection and that no weapon formed against you would prosper. We also encourage you to not seek vengeance on your own but to trust God and to allow the proper authorities to address any criminal acts, for it is written in Rom 12:19 that vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord, and in Rom 13:4 the governing authorities are God's servant for justice.

So we pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in Jesus' name and ask You to shine Your light into this darkness. Speak through this sister in Christ with wisdom and courage, let her not be deceived or kept from the truth, and use her to call her brother to repentance. Expose every hidden thing concerning this dangerous apartment and every evil intent against our fellow believer. Convict all involved of sexual immorality, idolatry, and any plot to do harm, and lead them to repentance and to putting You first. Destroy every idol that has taken Your place in their hearts. Protect the one who has been harmed, grant peace, provide safe housing, and let Your justice and mercy be done. We ask all this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We hear how heavy this has been for you, living with the memory of an unsafe apartment and the hurt around how you were treated. Caring that truth would come to light and that God would be put first comes from a good place, and we understand why you are praying for the landlord's sister who shares your faith to be a voice of honesty and calm in this situation.

We are praying with you that she keeps walking closely with Jesus and that any influence she has is marked by wisdom and grace. We are also praying for you, for peace as you wait on the Lord, for clear discernment about what is true, and for protection and steady support around you.

When housing has felt unsafe and you have felt threatened, it helps not to carry it alone. If you have not already, it may help to talk with a trusted pastor or counselor who knows you, and to keep a simple written record of what you experienced with the apartment and any concerns for your safety. If you ever feel you are in danger, please reach out right away to a trusted person near you and to your local authorities, and let someone you trust know where you are.

Father, we lift this sister to You and ask that You keep guiding her and give her wisdom. We lift our friend to You and ask for safety, for healing from what has been so distressing, and for Your clear direction in each next step. Lead toward what is true and good, and help Your name be honored in all of this. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord, for He hears prayer and will hear our prayer when it is offered in the name of Jesus Christ His Son.

We pray for the sister of whom you speak, who has faith in Jesus. May the Lord keep her and cause her to continue in that faith, walking in the light as He is in the light. We pray that she may be kept from all idols, for little children keep yourselves from idols is the word of the Lord, and that she may speak the truth in love, not turned aside by the frowning or the fawning of men. We ask that what has been hidden may be brought to light, that she may not be kept in darkness concerning matters of justice and safety, but may know the truth and be used of God to speak for what is right.

We pray for the former landlord, that God would bring him to see his ways in the light of divine justice. The Lord lays justice to the line and righteousness to the plummet, and He must do right. We do not ask God to bless what is contrary to His holy law, for marriage is ordained by God as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all sexual union outside of it is sin in His sight. We pray instead that both he and the woman of whom you speak would be brought to repentance, that they would put God first and turn from every idol that would take His place, whether it be lust or gain or self will. We pray that the Lord in His mercy and omnipotence would expose what is evil and destroy every idol, that Christ might have the preeminence.

Concerning the wrongs and dangers you have suffered, we pray that the Lord would be your defense. Cast your burden upon the Lord, for He will sustain you. We pray for your protection from harm and for the truth concerning this apartment and these grave accusations to be made clear before proper authority, that justice may be satisfied and not perverted. We pray that the blood of Jesus Christ, which cleanses from all sin, may be your hope and theirs also, for if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. There is no other remedy for the great evil of the human heart, out of which flow evil thoughts and every foul stream, but the cleansing blood of the Redeemer.

We pray also for you, that you may overcome evil with good. To return evil for evil is natural to the fallen nature, but good for evil is Godlike. May the Lord keep you from being hurt by the evil done against you, by teaching you to meet it with blessing and prayer, and to leave vengeance in the hands of Him who judges righteously. May you know the peace of one whose burden is cast upon the Lord and whose sin is washed away in Christ.

We ask all this not because we are worthy, but because Jesus Christ has borne the stripes and satisfied justice for all who trust in Him, through whom alone is salvation. Amen.
