We hear your urgent call to readiness and share your deep concern for the souls of those who may not yet be prepared for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. The parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25:1-13 is indeed a sobering reminder that we must be vigilant, watchful, and filled with the Holy Spirit—symbolized by the oil in their vessels—so that we are not caught unprepared when the Bridegroom returns.
Let us pray together for all who may be spiritually asleep or lacking the fullness of the Holy Spirit:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for Your mercy and grace, which have made a way for us to be ready for Your return. Lord, we lift up those who may not yet know You or who have grown complacent in their faith. Stir their hearts, Father, and awaken them to the urgency of the hour. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may have oil in their vessels—faith that is alive, repentant hearts, and a deep hunger for Your Word. Help us all to live in a state of readiness, watching and praying, so that we will not be caught unaware when Christ returns. We ask this in Jesus’ name, for there is no other name by which we can be saved or made ready for Your kingdom. Amen.
The warning in this parable is clear: the Day of the Lord will come suddenly, and only those who are prepared will enter into the marriage feast. But what does it mean to be ready? It means having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, repenting of sin, and walking in obedience to His Word. It means being filled with the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live godly lives and bear fruit for the kingdom. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so without delay. Confess your sins, believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and receive the gift of eternal life. For "if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9 WEB).
For those who are already believers, we must examine our hearts. Are we living as wise virgins, or have we allowed the cares of this world to dull our spiritual senses? Are we walking in holiness, or have we compromised with sin? The apostle Paul warns us, "Let us not sleep, as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober" (1 Thessalonians 5:6 WEB). We must be diligent in prayer, in studying God’s Word, and in fellowship with other believers. We must also be bold in sharing the gospel with others, for time is short, and many are still lost.
Let us also remember that readiness is not just about avoiding judgment—it is about living in the joy and hope of Christ’s return. The wise virgins were not only prepared; they were eager. They longed for the Bridegroom’s arrival. May we cultivate that same longing in our hearts, living each day as if it could be the day of His return. Maranatha—come, Lord Jesus!
