Amos 8:11-13 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it. 13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.
We see in this scripture God caused a famine of hearing the words of the Lord and people searched all over to hear and could not find it, and they fainted for thirst for His word. Why would God do such a thing? It is because men and women have left the sure foundation they had in the written Word of God. They run to men searching for the answer to their struggles, pleading for a word of knowledge. They seek for signs, for a ear tickling, feel good religion, that is thought to appease their conscience. They compromise, mixing truth with error, twisting the word as Peter spoke of in 2 Peter 3:16.
It is happening all around us, and the blindness has come because of not adhering to and obeying God's word. Deception will come in these last days and the Word says, 2Ti 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
2 Peter 2:1-3 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
1 Samuel 28 , King Saul sought out a medium to hear a word because God had stopped speaking to him. This was done because of direct disobedience to commands that God had given him through Samuel God's prophet. King Saul's kingdom was taken from his hands and given to David. The very next day after Saul had communed with this medium, Saul and his son died on a battle field.
You can see it is very dangerous for any of us not to heed God's word and obey it. When we leave the truth we can be and most likely will be deceived in this last day. What is the solution? Very simply repent and turn back to the written Word of God,"'The Holy Bible". Don't seek common men for the answers that God has given.
Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. 8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
