The annexation of America

We hear your deep concern for our nation, and we share in the burden for the direction our country is taking. The Bible warns us about the dangers of leaders who do not fear God and the consequences of a people who turn away from His truth. In Proverbs 29:2, it says, "When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan." We see the groaning in our land, and it grieves our hearts as well.

First and foremost, we must recognize that our ultimate hope is not in any political party, leader, or earthly system, but in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords, and His kingdom is eternal. In Daniel 2:21, we read, "He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding." No government, no ideology, and no movement can thwart God’s purposes. He is sovereign over all, and He calls us to trust in Him, even in times of uncertainty.

We must also examine our own hearts and the state of the church in America. Have we, as believers, grown complacent? Have we prioritized comfort over conviction, entertainment over discipleship, and worldly success over holiness? In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God says, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." The healing of our nation begins with the repentance and revival of God’s people. We must turn back to Him with all our hearts, seeking His face in prayer, fasting, and obedience.

We rebuke the spirit of deception that seeks to blind the eyes of the people to the truth. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We must stand firm in the truth of God’s Word and not be swayed by the lies of the world. In Ephesians 6:12, we are reminded, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Our battle is not ultimately against people or political parties, but against the spiritual forces of evil that seek to undermine God’s design for humanity.

We also must address the idolatry that has crept into our nation. Many have placed their trust in government, in wealth, in power, or in their own abilities rather than in the Lord. In Jeremiah 17:5, God warns, "Cursed is the man who trusts in man, relies on strength of flesh, whose heart departs from Yahweh." We must repent of any idolatry in our own lives and encourage others to do the same. Our hope must be firmly rooted in Christ alone.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, burdened for our nation. We confess that we have not always sought You first, nor have we lived according to Your Word. Forgive us, Lord, for our complacency, our idolatry, and our lack of faith. We repent of any ways we have placed our trust in man rather than in You. We ask for Your mercy and Your grace to be poured out upon America.

Lord Jesus, we declare that You are the King of kings and the Lord of lords. No government, no ideology, and no power can stand against You. We ask that You would expose the deception and lies that seek to lead Your people astray. Open the eyes of the blind and soften the hearts of the hardened. Let Your truth prevail in our land.

We pray for a revival in the church, Father. Stir the hearts of Your people to seek You with all their hearts, to pray without ceasing, and to live lives of holiness and obedience. Let us be salt and light in this dark world, shining the truth of Your Word in love and boldness.

We rebuke the spirit of communism and every ideology that seeks to oppose Your design for humanity. We declare that Your Word is truth, and we stand firm on the foundation of Scripture. Protect Your people from deception, and give us wisdom to discern the times.

Father, we pray for our leaders, whether we agree with them or not. Give them wisdom, humility, and a fear of You. Turn their hearts toward righteousness and justice. Let Your will be done in our nation, and let Your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

We trust in You, Lord, for You are our refuge and our strength. You are our hope in times of trouble, and we will not fear, for You are with us. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and to seek the Lord with all your heart. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we will reap if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9). Stand firm in the truth, and let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16). The battle is the Lord’s, and He will fight for us if we will only trust in Him.

We hear how unsettling this feels right now, watching currents in the nation and wondering where they lead. That sense of things slipping away can wear on a person's soul, and we don't want to just brush past it.

Sometimes the loudest and most threatening voices in the public square make it seem like everything is up for grabs. But the quieter reality is that God remains on his throne, and he has never once been caught off guard by who holds office, passes legislation, or gains influence. The story he is writing stretches far beyond any election cycle or political shift.

We were reminded recently of something striking: even now, even with all the cultural confusion, polls keep showing that the vast majority of Americans genuinely want a deeper relationship with God. Underneath the headlines, a spiritual hunger is stirring that no political movement can manufacture or shut down. That doesn't cancel out the real problems, but it does reframe them, God is quietly at work in ways no pollster measures.

What might it look like to give that truth more space in your heart than the news feed gets? Not naively ignoring reality, but letting what God is already doing set the tone for how you carry this burden. You are not alone in feeling this, and you are not alone in praying.

Lord Jesus, our times do feel chaotic and the direction of things can be unnerving. We ask you to steady our friend. Give them your own peace, the kind that doesn't depend on favorable headlines, and anchor their hope not in a political outcome but in your everlasting Kingdom. Grant wisdom to leaders and protection for the vulnerable. And help us all to be people who bring your light into the room rather than just more anxiety. In your name we pray, amen.

You speak of a takeover, of powers gaining ground, and your heart is troubled with a great fear. It is a very natural disease, this fear, for when we see the foundations cast down and wickedness parading in high places, the trembling of the soul is swift to follow. Yet I must press upon you the divine precept which is absolute and unqualified: “Fear you not; be not dismayed; for I am your God.” You cry for help, and rightly so. But know this, if the Lord does not help you, where can you find help? From the threshing floor, or from the winepress? From the ballot box or the schemes of princes? There is no fear of a man who has got God with him; He is all-sufficient. What an opportune help God’s is, always coming in at the right time. If you are serving your Master, why should you fear? It is not the preacher who cries “Fear not,” but it is Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant, fallen as dead at His feet, “Fear not: fear not.” It will be disobedience, then, to be afraid.

Look away from the raging of the nations to the promise that meets the fear that friendly succor will fail. He says, “Yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness.” When we fear that the earthly helpers are few and the adversaries many, we must labor to get rid of this fear, for Jacob’s fear of Esau was not to be held up as an example to us. Why should he have been filled with fear? There was no reason for it. We ought not to be slack in prayer, for we are ready enough to tell our neighbors all about our trials though they cannot help us. Instead, let your cry for help go up to our blessed Master, for where shall we look to be delivered from this bondage but to Him? You will find that in proportion as your faith gets stronger, your fear will vanish. The main way to overcome it is to believe firmly in your Lord.

And consider this: the fear of God which is true religion, that holy reverence and awe, comes only by the forgiveness of sins. A servile dread of man and circumstance is cast out when we receive the love of God. But if you are unsaved, you have cause enough to fear; may the Holy Spirit make you to fear and tremble before Him in that good sense which leads you to flee to Christ. For the child of God, however, the command stands: “Fear not, thou worm Jacob; I will help thee, saith the Lord.” Then why shouldst thou fear?

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

There is war in the market place; the affairs of every day are a fight, they are a tempest and a storm. You see the waves rising and the boat threatens to sink, and your cry for help is heard. Yet do not look so fiercely at the storm as to forget the weapon placed in your hands. Prayer is a great weapon, and we have need of it early and by night. If at the morning dawn we meditate on these things, we shall go forth to our business with much security. If we have first made God propitious by prayer and supplication, going forth thus we shall have no enemy. Or if we should, we will laugh him to scorn, having God propitious.

But you ask not only for yourself, you call for the help of others. It is a good thing to enjoy the prayer of the Saints, but it is when we ourselves also are on the alert. Do not say, What need have I of prayer? On this account you need it, because you think that you have no need. Do not exalt yourself, lest you be humbled. If we wake we shall not need the help of others; but if we sleep, the help of others will profit us nothing, but even with this we perish.

Do not place your confidence in the shifting sands of political power, nor let your soul be troubled as if the outcome rested on the schemes of men. The conversion of a persecutor is sudden when it is by Divine revelation, and the Lord who stills the sea with a word needs no human ally to establish His will. Yet do you look to your own rampart. And after prayer thus intense, there is need of much almsgiving: for this it is which especially gives strength to the medicine of repentance. Water will quench a flaming fire, and alms will do away with great sins. Secure your own vessel first, and no storm will overwhelm you; for no one can harm the man who does not injure himself.

The anxiety you feel is no small thing, and the awareness of forces that seem set against a nation's foundations can press heavily on the soul. The voice of the enemy, whether in our own household or in the halls of power, has a way of magnifying itself until it drowns out every other sound. That is why the first and deepest work is to remember the Lord. Fear always ensues when we forget Him. When David faced a rebellion led by his own son, when terror and trembling seized him, his cry was not merely for a change of circumstances but for a perspective that saw the whole picture through God’s power. He put it in God’s hands and found a way to say, “I will praise His word.”

Prayer is not an excuse for inaction, just as Nehemiah did not merely pray and then sit idle when the walls of Jerusalem lay in rubble. He prayed, he surveyed the damage at night, and then he laid a plan and told the people they had the authority to rebuild. Let your prayer become the engine room for responsible, clear-eyed action. The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much, opening the door for God to do what He has been waiting to do. But that prayer must be partnered with a willingness to work, to speak, and to stand, with your eyes fixed not on the threats but on the Lord who is greater than any opposing scheme.

Do not let your heart be cast down into helpless despair. The cure for fear is turning it all over to God and then picking up your tools to build, even with a trowel in one hand and a sword in the other. Pray for the peace and soul of the land, ask for God’s mercy to be poured out yet again, and then act with the courage that comes from knowing whose you are. As you bring this burden before the Father, you may well find, before you even finish, that the fear begins to lift and a quiet assurance takes its place. No weapon formed against the work of God will ultimately prosper. His records are complete, He has seen every tear, and He remains on the throne.
