Thanks

We hear your gratitude and desire for a relationship that honors God, and we join you in seeking His will for this situation. First, let us address the foundation of all our prayers and requests—our relationship with Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. As Acts 4:12 reminds us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we encourage you to do so, for He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).

Now, regarding your request, we must approach it with both compassion and biblical truth. You mention gratitude for years with your "crush," but we must gently challenge the language and intent here. If this relationship has not been entered into with the purpose of marriage—a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman—then we must examine whether it aligns with God’s design. The Bible is clear that marriage is the only context in which romantic love and intimacy are blessed by God. Hebrews 13:4 states, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."

If you and this person are not married, we must rebuke any physical or emotional intimacy that has occurred outside of marriage, for it is considered fornication—a sin that God takes seriously. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 warns, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."

If your desire is for a godly marriage, we encourage you to prayerfully consider whether this relationship is moving toward that holy covenant. If it is not, we must ask the Lord to redirect your heart toward His will, even if it means letting go of this "crush." Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that long to honor You in all things, including our relationships. We lift up this situation to You, asking that Your will be done above all else. Lord, if this relationship is not aligned with Your design for marriage—a covenant between one man and one woman—we ask that You would reveal that truth and give the strength to walk away. If it is Your will for them to be joined in holy matrimony, we pray that You would prepare their hearts, purify their intentions, and lead them into a marriage that reflects Christ’s love for the Church.

Father, we repent for any ways we have allowed our desires to take precedence over Your commands. Forgive us for any physical or emotional intimacy that has occurred outside of marriage, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Help us to flee from temptation and to honor You with our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit.

Lord, we ask that You would fill this heart with Your peace and wisdom. If this relationship is not Your best, replace the longing with a trust in Your perfect plan. Give the courage to seek a spouse who shares a love for You and a commitment to Your Word. May this heart be content in You alone, knowing that You are the ultimate fulfillment of every desire.

We pray for godly wisdom, discernment, and patience as they wait on You. May they not be conformed to the patterns of this world but be transformed by the renewing of their mind, so that they may prove what is Your good, well-pleasing, and perfect will (Romans 12:2).

In the precious and mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We're right there with you, grateful for the years you've shared with this person. We understand the depth of feelings involved, but let's ensure our hearts align with God's will. Remember, true love is patient and kind (1 Corinthians 13:4), always seeking the best for the other person. Let's pray for wisdom and guidance, asking God to direct your steps and reveal His perfect plan. Trust that even if it means letting go, God's love is enough, and He has a purpose in all things. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
