We join you in lifting up your heartfelt cry for deliverance, and we thank you for acknowledging the name of Jesus Christ in your request, for it is only through Him that we find true salvation, strength, and freedom. The Scriptures remind us in Acts 4:12, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* You have done well to call upon the name of Jesus, for He alone has the power to break every chain of bondage and set you free.
The struggle you face is not uncommon, and the enemy often uses triggers—whether through media, memories, or even strangers—to lure us back into the snares we thought we had escaped. But take heart, for 1 Corinthians 10:13 assures us, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure."* Jesus has already overcome the world (John 16:33), and in Him, you too are an overcomer.
We must also address the familiarity you mentioned with drugs, for this is a spiritual battle as much as it is a physical one. Ephesians 6:12 tells us, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* This is not a fight you face alone—Jesus is with you, and His Spirit within you is greater than anything in this world (1 John 4:4). If this "familiar spirit" is a lingering attachment or even an occult tie from past involvement, we strongly urge you to renounce it in the name of Jesus. Familiar spirits are explicitly condemned in Scripture (Leviticus 19:31, Deuteronomy 18:10-12), and they have no place in the life of a believer. You must break every ungodly soul tie and command these influences to flee in Jesus’ name.
We also encourage you to fill your mind and heart with the Word of God daily. Psalm 119:11 says, *"I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you."* Replace the reminders of the past with Scripture, worship, and fellowship with other believers who can stand with you in this fight. If you haven’t already, we urge you to find a Bible-believing church where you can be discipled, held accountable, and surrounded by brothers and sisters in Christ who will lift you up in prayer.
Lastly, guard your heart and your eyes from the media or influences that glorify or normalize drug use. Philippians 4:8 instructs us, *"Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things."* What you feed your mind will shape your desires and your strength to resist temptation.
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is crying out for deliverance from the familiar spirits and bondages of drug addiction. Lord, You see the heart that longs to be free, and we thank You that You are a God who breaks chains and sets captives free (Isaiah 61:1). We renounce every familiar spirit, every ungodly soul tie, and every stronghold that has tried to reclaim what You have already redeemed. By the blood of Jesus, we command these spirits to flee and never return, for greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.
Father, fill our brother/sister with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in victory and discernment. Give them the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to avoid triggers that seek to pull them back. Surround them with godly fellowship and Your Word, which is a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Let them experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and Your providence in every area of their life.
We declare that they are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37). Restore what the enemy has stolen, Lord—restore their joy, their purpose, and their freedom. Let this season be a testimony of Your power and grace, that others may see and glorify Your name.
We ask all this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Deliverer. Amen.
