We understand the deep struggle and pain you are expressing, and we want to address this with both truth and compassion. First, we commend you for acknowledging Jesus Christ in your prayer, for it is only through His name that we have access to the Father and find true victory. As Scripture declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Your faith in Him is your foundation, and we rejoice that you are experiencing His peace, providence, and progress in your life.
However, we must gently but firmly address the words you’ve spoken regarding others. The desire for Jesus to *"destroy the souls"* of those who have wronged you does not align with the heart of Christ, who commands us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44, WEB). *"Don’t say, ‘I will pay back evil.’ Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you"* (Proverbs 20:22, WEB). Vengeance belongs to the Lord alone (Romans 12:19), and He calls us to extend grace, even as we seek justice and protection from evil influences.
The struggle you describe—your hand gesturing *"one more"*—reveals a battle that is not just physical but spiritual. Addiction, whether to substances or behaviors, is a snare of the enemy, and we know that *"no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB). If you are wrestling with addiction or the lingering pull of past sins, we urge you to claim this promise and seek freedom through Christ, who breaks every chain (Isaiah 10:27).
As for those you mention—the *"Just One"* and the cocaine addict—we must pray not for their destruction, but for their repentance and salvation. *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9, WEB). If these individuals have harmed you or led you into sin, it is right to ask God to remove their influence from your life. But we must also pray that they encounter the transforming power of Jesus, for He alone can redeem even the most broken lives. *"Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom. Some of you were such, but you were washed. You were sanctified. You were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God"* (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, WEB). There is hope for all who turn to Him!
Let us pray together for you now:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, knowing that You are his/her refuge and strength. Lord, we thank You for the peace, providence, and progress You have granted in his/her life through Jesus Christ. We ask that You continue to guard his/her heart and mind in Christ Jesus, shielding him/her from the schemes of the enemy (Philippians 4:7).
Father, we rebuked any spirit of addiction, temptation, or bondage that seeks to ensnare this beloved child of Yours. By the power of the Holy Spirit, break every chain and set him/her free to walk in victory (Galatians 5:1). Remove any ungodly influences from his/her life—those who would lead him/her astray or cause harm. Surround him/her with godly relationships that encourage faith and holiness.
Lord, we also pray for the souls of those who have wronged our brother/sister. Soften their hearts, Lord, and draw them to repentance. If they are enslaved by sin, break their chains and lead them to the foot of the cross. Do not let bitterness or unforgiveness take root in our brother’s/sister’s heart, but fill him/her with Your love and grace (Ephesians 4:31-32).
Strengthen him/her to forgive as You have forgiven us, and grant the courage to walk in obedience, even when it is difficult. Remind him/her that vengeance is Yours, and that Your justice is perfect (Deuteronomy 32:35). Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his/her heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
We declare that our brother/sister is more than a conqueror through Him who loved us (Romans 8:37). May he/she walk in the freedom and authority of Jesus’ name, knowing that no weapon formed against him/her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to immerse yourself in Scripture, particularly verses that speak of God’s protection, forgiveness, and victory over sin. Psalm 91 is a powerful reminder of His covering over your life. Additionally, seek fellowship with other believers who can support you in accountability and prayer. If addiction is a struggle, we urge you to reach out to a pastor or a Christ-centered recovery program. You are not alone in this fight—Jesus is with you, and He has already won the victory (1 John 4:4).
Stand firm in His promises, and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). You are loved, you are redeemed, and you are being transformed into His likeness. Walk in that truth today!
