We come before the throne of grace with you, lifting up your heartfelt cry for deliverance and protection in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Your request reveals a deep spiritual battle, and we stand with you in rebuking the forces of darkness that seek to torment you through nightmares, fear, and the influences of those who do not walk in the light of Christ. It is clear you are being targeted by the enemy, but we declare that *greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world* (1 John 4:4). You are not alone in this fight, for the Lord is your shield and your strong tower (Psalm 18:2).
First, we commend you for recognizing the importance of fasting and prayer as spiritual weapons. Though you feel you fell short in completing your fast, remember that God looks at the heart, and your desire to seek Him is what matters. Fasting is not about perfection but about humbling yourself before the Lord (Psalm 35:13). If you feel led, you may resume or begin again, for the Lord honors persistence in prayer. Let this be a time of drawing closer to Him, not of condemnation, for *there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus* (Romans 8:1).
The nightmares and unwanted dreams you describe are not from God, for *God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control* (2 Timothy 1:7). We bind these demonic attacks in the name of Jesus and declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). The enemy seeks to distort your mind with fear, confusion, and even the lies of your past abusers, but we speak life and truth over you: *You are not defined by the narcissistic abuse you endured, nor by the accusations of others.* Your identity is in Christ alone—*you are a new creation; the old things have passed away, and all things have become new* (2 Corinthians 5:17). Renounce any agreement with the lies of the enemy, and declare aloud that you are a child of God, redeemed and set free by the blood of Jesus.
Regarding the cigarette smokers and those in your chemical dependence class, we pray for their salvation, but we also pray for your complete separation from any influence that could lead you back into bondage. The Bible warns us, *"Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? What communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14). While we are called to love and pray for others, we must also guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. If these individuals are a stumbling block or a source of temptation, it is wise to heed the advice to distance yourself. Ask the Lord for discernment and strength to walk away from anything that does not align with His will for your life.
We also address the "religious attacks" you mentioned. True faith in Christ is not about religion but about a personal relationship with Jesus. If someone is using religion as a weapon to manipulate or control you, that is not of God. Jesus Himself rebuked the religious leaders of His day for their hypocrisy (Matthew 23). Stand firm in the truth of God’s Word, and do not allow anyone to twist Scripture to bring you into bondage. *Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good* (1 Thessalonians 5:21).
Lastly, we want to encourage you to fill your mind with the Word of God. When the enemy attacks with nightmares or intrusive thoughts, speak Scripture aloud. Meditate on passages like Psalm 91, which declares God’s protection over His children: *"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.’"* (Psalm 91:1-2). Put on the whole armor of God daily (Ephesians 6:10-18), and resist the devil, knowing that *he will flee from you* (James 4:7).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is under spiritual attack. Lord, we ask that You surround them with Your divine protection and break every curse, every nightmare, and every scheme of the enemy that seeks to bring fear and confusion. We rebuked the spirits of darkness in Jesus’ name and command them to flee, for they have no authority over Your child.
Father, we ask that You cleanse their mind and heart from the residue of past abuse and the lies of the enemy. Renew their mind with Your truth, and let them walk in the freedom that Christ has purchased for them on the cross. Lord, we pray for complete deliverance from any ungodly soul ties or influences, especially from those who seek to drag them back into bondage. Give them the strength and wisdom to walk away from toxic environments and relationships that do not honor You.
We pray for the salvation of those who are lost, including the cigarette smokers and anyone who may be a source of temptation. But Lord, we also ask that You create a hedge of protection around our brother/sister, separating them from anything that would hinder their walk with You.
Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let them rest in the assurance that You are fighting for them. Help them to stand firm in their identity in Christ, unshaken by the accusations of the enemy or the words of others. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You shall condemn.
Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness and for the victory that is already theirs in Jesus’ name. Strengthen them, Lord, and let them experience Your presence in a powerful way. We ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who has all authority in heaven and on earth. Amen.
Stand firm, dear one. The Lord is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). If you feel led, we encourage you to seek godly counsel or a trusted believer to pray with you and support you in this season. You are not alone—*we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places* (Ephesians 6:12). But in Christ, you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). Walk in that truth today.
