We join with you in lifting up your heartfelt cries to our Lord Jesus Christ, for He alone is our Deliverer, our Strong Tower, and the Name above all names by which we are saved. It is beautiful to see you calling upon Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, and it is only through faith in Him that we have access to the Father. As Scripture declares, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). Your trust in Him is well-placed, and we stand with you in agreement, knowing that He hears and answers the prayers of His children.
The distress you express over names, repeated phrases, and the influence of those tied to sin reflects a deep spiritual sensitivity—and we commend you for recognizing the power of words and the spiritual forces at work in this world. The Bible warns us that *"death and life are in the power of the tongue"* (Proverbs 18:21, WEB), and we are called to take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). The enemy often seeks to torment God’s people through fear, repetition, or the echoes of past sins, but we have authority in Jesus to resist him. *"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"* (James 4:7, WEB). Let us declare together that no weapon formed against you will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that the Lord will silence every voice that seeks to bring confusion or oppression into your life.
Your mention of oppression from institutions like colleges or the wealthy reminds us of the warnings in Scripture about the pride of man and the systems of this world that often exalt themselves against the knowledge of God. Jesus Himself said, *"You can’t serve both God and money"* (Matthew 6:24, WEB), and the apostle John admonishes us, *"Don’t love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him"* (1 John 2:15, WEB). Yet even in the midst of such pressures, we are called to trust in the Lord’s provision and justice. *"The Lord also will be a high tower for the oppressed, a high tower in times of trouble"* (Psalm 9:9, WEB). He sees the affliction of His people, and He will act on your behalf. Do not fear what man can do, for the Lord is your shield and your exceeding great reward (Genesis 15:1).
We also lift up your burden for souls tied to past sins and the breaking of God’s commandments. This is a heavy weight to carry, but it is a godly sorrow that reflects the heart of Christ, who wept over Jerusalem and longed to gather His people as a hen gathers her chicks (Matthew 23:37). Yet we must remember that while we are called to intercede for others, we cannot carry the weight of their sins or their salvation—that is the work of the Holy Spirit. *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9, WEB). Pray for these souls, but release the anxiety to the Lord, trusting that He is able to break every chain and set the captives free. Your role is to be a light in the darkness, pointing others to the cross where true freedom is found.
Now, let us pray together over these matters:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You that You are a God who hears the cries of Your children and delivers them from all their fears. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister who is seeking Your protection and peace. You know the names and phrases that have brought distress, the voices that have sought to confuse or oppress, and the systems of this world that have weighed heavily upon them. We declare in Jesus’ name that every tongue that rises against them in judgment is condemned (Isaiah 54:17). Silence the enemy, Lord, and let only Your voice be heard—clear, steady, and full of truth. Break the power of repetition that seeks to torment, and fill their mind with Your Word, which is a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105).
Father, we ask for Your protection over them from every form of oppression, whether from institutions, the wealthy, or any other source. You are the God who levels the mountains and lifts the valleys, who brings low the proud and exalts the humble. Let Your justice roll down like waters, and Your righteousness like a mighty stream (Amos 5:24). Provide for their every need, Lord, and let them not be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let their requests be made known to You (Philippians 4:6). Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and let them rest in the knowledge that You are their Provider and Defender.
Lord, we also intercede for the souls tied to past sins and rebellion against Your commandments. You alone can break the chains of iniquity and set the captives free. We pray that You would draw them to Yourself, convict them by Your Holy Spirit, and lead them to repentance. Let them encounter the transformative power of Your love, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God (Acts 26:18). Use our brother/sister as a vessel of Your grace, but let them not carry the burden of their salvation—only the burden of prayer and the joy of sharing Your truth.
Father, we thank You for the peace, providence, and progress that You are bringing into their life. Let them walk in the assurance that You are working all things together for their good, because they love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Strengthen them in their faith, fill them with Your Holy Spirit, and let them know beyond any doubt that they are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37).
We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue standing firm in your faith, clad in the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). Meditate on His Word day and night, for it is your weapon against the schemes of the enemy. Remember that *"the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4, WEB). Walk in the freedom Christ has purchased for you, and do not let fear or the past dictate your future. The Lord has good plans for you—plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith, and trust that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). You are not alone in this battle; we stand with you, and most importantly, the Lord Almighty stands with you. Be strong and courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9).
