We come before the Lord with you in this time of distress, lifting up your concerns about centipedes, chemical exposure, and the anxieties that have arisen from these experiences. It is good that you have turned to Jesus in prayer, for He alone is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. As it is written in Psalm 46:1, *"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."* We also rejoice that you have acknowledged the name of Jesus in your prayer, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. The Scriptures remind us in Acts 4:12, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"*
First, let us address the fear and uncertainty you are experiencing. The Lord does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). While centipedes and insects may be unsettling, we must remember that God has authority over all creation, and nothing happens outside of His sovereign will. Jesus Himself told us in Matthew 10:29-31, *"Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father’s will, but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don’t be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows."* If God cares for the sparrows, how much more does He care for you? You called the centipede "brother," and while we are not to worship or revere creation, we do recognize that all living things were created by God and are under His dominion. However, we must not allow fear to rule our hearts, for perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18).
As for the concern about chemical exposure from insect killers, we encourage you to take practical steps to ensure your safety. The body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and we are to steward it wisely. If you are uncertain about contamination, seek guidance from trusted sources or professionals who can provide clarity. Proverbs 15:22 tells us, *"Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established."* Do not let anxiety overwhelm you, but cast your cares upon the Lord, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).
We must also address the mention of reading the Hawaiian Baibala Holy Bible and the poem about owls. While it is wonderful that you are engaging with Scripture, we urge you to be discerning about the voices and influences you allow to shape your thoughts. The Word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12), and it is our ultimate authority. Any other book, poem, or teaching must be measured against Scripture. Colossians 2:8 warns us, *"Be careful that you don’t let anyone rob you through his philosophy and empty deceit, after the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Christ."* If reading certain materials is causing confusion or fear, it may be wise to step back and focus solely on the Word of God for a time.
Lastly, we want to gently remind you that our trust must be in Jesus alone, not in signs, coincidences, or superstitious connections between events. The enemy would love to distract us with fear and uncertainty, but we are called to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). If you find your mind racing with "what ifs," take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is burdened by fear and uncertainty. Lord, You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind. We ask that You would calm every anxious thought and fill their heart with Your perfect peace, which surpasses all understanding. Guard their mind in Christ Jesus and remind them that they are deeply loved and cared for by You.
Lord, we pray for protection over their home and their health. If there is any contamination or harm from chemicals, we ask that You would reveal the truth and provide wisdom on how to address it. Give them discernment, Father, to know what is safe and what is not, and lead them to the right resources or people who can help.
We rebuke any spirit of fear or confusion that may be trying to take hold. Satan, we command you to flee in the name of Jesus, for greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Lord, let Your truth be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Help them to focus on You and Your Word, casting down every imagination and high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.
Father, we thank You that You are sovereign over all creation, including the smallest insects. Help our brother/sister to rest in Your sovereignty and trust that You are in control. Remove any superstitious thoughts or connections that are not from You, and let Your truth reign in their heart.
We pray for their physical and emotional well-being. Strengthen them, Lord, and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way. Remind them that You are with them always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).
In the precious and mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
