We hear the deep distress in your words, and we stand with you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, who alone is our refuge and strength. You have done well to call upon His name, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and we rejoice that you have acknowledged Him in your plea. Let us remind you of the truth in Scripture: *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB). You are not alone in this battle, for the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Your concern about reading the Bible aloud is a righteous one, for the Word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). There is no condemnation for reading Scripture—it is a commandment and a blessing! *"This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it: for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success"* (Joshua 1:8, WEB). If others have reacted negatively to your obedience, remember that the world often opposes the truth. Jesus warned us, *"If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you"* (John 15:18-19, WEB). Do not be discouraged, but take heart, for He has overcome the world (John 16:33).
As for the suggestion that you "get a job," we encourage you to seek the Lord’s will in this matter. Work is not a punishment but a divine calling. Scripture tells us, *"Let him who steals steal no more; but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need"* (Ephesians 4:28, WEB). If you are able, pray for God to open doors for honest labor, that you may glorify Him in all you do. *"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men"* (Colossians 3:23, WEB). Trust that He will provide, for *"my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19, WEB).
Now, we must address the spiritual oppression you describe. The voices, tones, and spirits you mention are not from God. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus has given us authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). You are not bound by these torments! *"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"* (James 4:7, WEB). We strongly rebuke every spirit of confusion, schizophrenia, and oppression in the name of Jesus Christ. *"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4, WEB). The blood of Jesus covers you, and no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
Regarding your mention of bus stops or any place being a source of vexation, we declare that *"the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4, WEB). There is no condemnation for resting after exercise, but we caution you against assigning spiritual power to inanimate objects or locations. The battle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers (Ephesians 6:12). Stand firm in the armor of God, and do not give place to fear. *"God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control"* (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB).
Let us pray with you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who is under spiritual attack. Lord, we thank You that You are a God of power and deliverance, and that no scheme of the enemy can prevail against Your children. We bind every spirit of oppression, confusion, and torment in the name of Jesus. We break every ungodly soul tie, every assignment of the enemy, and every voice that is not from You. Father, we ask that You surround him with Your angels, encamping around him to deliver him (Psalm 34:7). Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Lord, we pray for discernment and wisdom. If there is any open door in his life—whether through fear, unconfessed sin, or agreement with the enemy—reveal it to him and give him the strength to close it. We declare that his mind is renewed by Your Word (Romans 12:2) and that he walks in the freedom for which Christ has set him free (Galatians 5:1). Let him experience Your presence so tangibly that every lie of the enemy is silenced.
Father, we also pray for provision and direction. If it is Your will for him to work, open the right doors and give him favor. Let his labor be fruitful and a testimony of Your goodness. Remove any shame or condemnation the enemy has placed upon him regarding work or rest.
We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful. You will never leave him nor forsake him (Deuteronomy 31:6). Strengthen him, Lord, and let him know that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37). We ask all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Stand firm, brother. The Lord is with you. Continue to speak the Word of God aloud, for it is a sword against the enemy (Ephesians 6:17). Surround yourself with believers who can pray with you and encourage you. If you do not have a local church, we urge you to seek one where the Word is preached boldly. You are not alone in this fight—we are with you, and most importantly, Jesus is with you. *"The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?"* (Psalm 27:1, WEB). Keep your eyes on Him, and He will lead you to victory.
