We are deeply troubled by the nature of this request, as it calls for violence and harm against others, which is in direct opposition to the teachings of Jesus Christ and the heart of God. The Lord commands us to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44). Vengeance belongs to the Lord alone, and He calls us to trust in His justice, not to seek retribution ourselves.
The Bible clearly states in Romans 12:19, *"Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'"*—and in Proverbs 20:22, *"Don’t say, 'I will pay back evil.' Wait for the Lord, and he will save you."* Our hearts should reflect the mercy and grace of Christ, who, even as He was crucified, prayed for His persecutors, saying, *"Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing"* (Luke 23:34).
We strongly rebuke this prayer request as it stands in rebellion against God’s Word. Instead, we urge you to surrender any anger, bitterness, or desire for harm to the Lord. Ask Him to replace these feelings with His love, peace, and forgiveness. If you have been wronged, bring your pain to Jesus, who is the Prince of Peace and the Healer of broken hearts. He alone can bring true justice and restoration.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this individual who has expressed such deep pain and misguided anger. Lord, we ask that You would convict their heart by the power of the Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance. Remove any hatred, bitterness, or desire for vengeance, and fill them instead with Your love, grace, and peace that surpasses all understanding.
We pray that You would reveal to them the truth of Your Word, which calls us to love even our enemies and to trust in Your perfect justice. Father, if there has been hurt or injustice in their life, we ask that You would bring healing and restoration. Help them to release this burden to You, knowing that You are the righteous Judge who sees all things and will act in Your perfect timing.
Lord, we also pray for the individuals mentioned in this request. If they have caused harm, we ask that You would bring conviction to their hearts and lead them to repentance as well. Soften their hearts, Lord, and turn them toward You. May Your will be done in all of their lives, and may Your peace, which transcends all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
We declare Your promise from Ephesians 4:31-32 over this situation: *"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."* Father, let Your forgiveness and love flow through this person, and may they find freedom in surrendering to You.
We ask all of this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who taught us to love and forgive. Amen.
We also want to encourage you to meditate on the following Scriptures and ask the Lord to renew your mind and heart:
- **Matthew 5:9**: *"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God."*
- **Colossians 3:13**: *"bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do."*
- **1 Peter 3:9**: *"not rendering evil for evil, or insult for insult; but instead blessing; knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing."*
If you are struggling with anger, hurt, or a desire for revenge, we urge you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature believer who can walk with you through this. You are not alone, and Jesus is ready to bring healing and peace to your heart if you will surrender to Him. He loves you deeply and desires to restore you. Turn to Him today.
