We come before the living and true God together with you in Jesus name, thanking Him for the work of conviction in your heart that has led you to confess so openly. We hear your cry for mercy and forgiveness for yourself, for Vida nueva, for Valentina and for relatives and close people present, past and future, and we join our faith with yours seeking His will.
The Lord delights in a broken and contrite heart and He has promised that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. We also cling to the promise that as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us Psalm 103:12 and though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow Isaiah 1:18. He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy Proverbs 28:13. This is the mercy you have asked for and we rejoice that you have come through Jesus, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.
We want to gently and lovingly address what you have confessed, because true repentance means agreeing with God about sin and turning from it. You confessed doubts about His existence, His love, His power and His control, and believing the lie that He does not forgive or deeply love imperfect people, disabled people and addicted people. Scripture rebukes that unbelief, for without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him Hebrews 11:6. His love is not earned by perfection, for God demonstrates his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us Romans 5:8 and neither death, nor life, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 8:38-39.
You confessed pride, selfish aspirations, plans, programs, projects, desires, thoughts of the heart and mind, loving yourselves more than loving God, relying on self love and hidden brokenness rather than believing in His control and His good plans, rebellion, trying to do His will your own way, and power abuse in His name. God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble James 4:6 and He calls us to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding Proverbs 3:5. His plans for those who walk with Him are good, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. To truly do His will we must obey as He commands, for to obey is better than sacrifice 1 Samuel 15:22, and we must let Him create in us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us Psalm 51:10.
You also confessed hating limits, conforming to what He did not want, walking by anyone or anything He did not want, avoiding recognizing, repenting, confessing and changing mistakes and blind points of view, and not wanting to forgive others and taking one another to court. We are commanded to forgive as God also in Christ forgave us Ephesians 4:32, for if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses Matthew 6:14-15. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him Isaiah 55:7.
You confessed idols of the heart, loving lies and romantic loves more than God, loving marriage, sexual immorality, waste and money, and being unequally yoked. We must lovingly rebuke these things, for we are warned do not love the world, neither the things that are in the world 1 John 2:15 and to seek first Gods Kingdom, and his righteousness Matthew 6:33. Marriage is honorable and holy when it is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman as God designed, but when we idolize marriage or romantic love above God it becomes sin. Sexual immorality, which is any sexual intimacy outside of that marriage covenant, is fornication and must be fled, for flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. Marriage should be only in the Lord and courtship should be with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, for do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity 2 Corinthians 6:14. The waste of money and selfish desires also reveal a heart that needs to be surrendered wholly to Him.
We pray together with you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come confessing with our brother and sister all these sins, doubts, pride, rebellion, unbelief, betrayals, infidelities, selfish plans, idolatry and sexual immorality. We ask You to forgive us according to Your abundant mercy, to cleanse us by the blood of Jesus shed on the cross, and to create in us clean hearts that love You above all else. Teach us to walk only where You want us to walk, to hate what You hate and love what You love, to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to trust Your love, Your power and Your perfect control even when we do not understand. We lift up Vida nueva, Valentina and all relatives and close ones past, present and future, that they also may receive Your forgiveness and be drawn to repentance and faith in Jesus. Help us to forsake unequal yokes and every form of sexual immorality, to flee idols and to pursue holiness, and to do Your will not as we think but as You truly desire, in humble obedience. Restore what has been broken, heal hidden brokenness, humble our pride, and help us to rely wholly on Your love and Your good plans. We ask that You lead us in Your way to overcome and to decide rightly according to Your Word, and that we may walk in newness of life bearing fruit that honors You. We ask all this in the precious and only name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.
