Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your desire to offer thanks, admiration, praise, worship and glory to God is good and right, for all glory belongs to Him alone.
Scripture teaches us that God does not need our praise as if He lacked anything. He is complete in Himself. Yet He calls us to praise Him because in praising Him our love for Him is kindled more fervently, and He desires above all our salvation and our nearness to Him through Jesus Christ His Son. When we turn our hearts to thank Him, we are the ones who are blessed and drawn closer to Him.
This is the true glory we should seek, not the glory that comes from people. The praise of people is fleeting and cannot crown us, but the glory that comes from God endures forever. So let us seek that heavenly glory with humility, and give all honor and worship to the Father, and to His only begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever.
We join you in prayer with the words the faithful have used of old:
Blessed God, who feeds us from our youth and gives food to all flesh, fill our hearts with joy and gladness, that always having all we need we may abound in every good work in Christ Jesus our Lord, with whom to You be glory, honor and might, with the Holy Spirit, forever. Amen. Glory to You, O Lord, glory to You, O Holy One, glory to You, O King, that You have given us all things to make us glad. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may be found well pleasing before You.
May the Lord receive your thanksgiving and keep your heart fixed on Him, and may He teach you to live daily to the praise of the glory of His grace.
