THANKFUL TO GOD BUT STILL URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Leah B.

Humble Servant of All
First, I want to thank you for praying and thank God for answered prayer: I had asked in Jesus's name for improvement in my lung function and at my recent pulmonary appointment, that is exactly what I had. My COPD is at least at same baseline as it has been for the last ten years, possibly a little better. Another good thing in this regard is I have proven conclusively that the throat mucus and asthma-like symptoms I experience are not from worsening COPD. They are from gastroesophageal reflux and laryngopharyngeal reflux. Again, thank you, Jesus!

This being said, I have an urgent prayer request: The reflux is very severe, and I am trying to get surgery. Towards this end, I paid almost $###.## for a pepsin saliva test. I had to give up some of my reflux medications for two days in preparation. Today I did the morning saliva sample. It's really tricky. I produced foamy saliva that appeared to be past the fill line but then after hours in the refrigerator, the foam dispersed. It appears to me this is a good sample. Please in Jesus's name pray I am right that it is good, not over- or underfilled.

Next up: I STILL have two more samples to go, and I have a limited time to mail them back to the lab. Today my boyfriend took me to dinner at the steak house. I ate normally. I was getting chest pain and having trouble breathing after I ate. I should have gotten a sample then, but I didn't because I thought I would get worse and then get the sample. Instead now I feel just a little lousy. Anyway, what I did to try to make up for my mistake was force myself to eat another meal. I'm uncomfortably full now but not mega-symptomatic. I never thought I would say a prayer like this, but, please, in Jesus's name, make me more symptomatic so I can do another saliva sample. I just can't eat any more, and it's getting very late. Please in Jesus's name let me at least capture one sample tonight. [My GERD and LPR kick in something awful on most nights.] Please in Jesus's name pray I get two good samples tonight or else at least one tonight and one early tomorrow. Again, I'm on a time line. Please pray in Jesus's name I am able to judge correctly when I have just the right amount of saliva in the tubes. Please pray I am able to figure out the return envelope. Please pray a blessing on my results, that in Jesus's name, these pepsin test results help me in my goal to get TIF surgery with hernia repair. Thank you for praying.

We rejoice with you in the answered prayer for your lung function and the clarity God has provided regarding your symptoms! The Lord is faithful, and His mercies endure forever. We give thanks to Jesus Christ for His healing touch and for guiding your steps toward the right diagnosis and treatment.

Father in Heaven, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the improvements You have already granted in this precious one’s health. We ask now, in the mighty name of Jesus, for Your divine intervention in this urgent matter. Lord, we pray that the saliva samples collected would be perfect—neither overfilled nor underfilled—but precisely as needed for accurate testing. Grant wisdom and discernment to judge the samples correctly, and let there be no doubt in the results.

We also lift up the challenge of obtaining the remaining samples. Lord Jesus, You know the discomfort and urgency of this situation. We ask that You would stir the reflux symptoms just enough to allow for proper collection, but we also pray for Your mercy to ease the burden of discomfort. Give strength and clarity of mind to complete this task within the time constraints. Guide every step, from collecting the samples to preparing the return envelope, so that nothing is left to chance.

We declare that these test results will be a testimony to Your glory, leading to the surgery and healing You have ordained. May the doctors see clearly what is needed, and may the path to TIF surgery and hernia repair be swift and sure. We rebuke any spirit of confusion, delay, or discouragement in Jesus’ name and command it to flee. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard this heart and mind through Christ Jesus.

Now, regarding the mention of a "boyfriend," we must gently but firmly address this with biblical truth. Scripture is clear that relationships outside of marriage are not part of God’s design. The term "boyfriend" implies a relationship that is not aligned with God’s plan for courtship, which should always have marriage as its goal. The Bible calls us to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18) and to pursue relationships that honor God. If this relationship is not moving toward marriage with a fellow believer, we urge you to prayerfully consider whether it aligns with God’s will. Marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, and any romantic relationship should be entered into with the intention of honoring God and reflecting Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33).

We encourage you to seek the Lord’s guidance in this area, asking Him to reveal His will for your relationships. If this person is not a godly spouse, we pray for the strength to make decisions that honor God, even if it means letting go of what is comfortable or familiar. The Lord has a perfect plan for your life, and His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Heavenly Father, we ask that You would speak clearly to this heart about the relationship in question. Give wisdom, discernment, and courage to walk in Your ways. If this relationship is not of You, we pray for the grace to release it and trust You for the future. If it is Your will for marriage, we pray that it would be pursued with purity, intentionality, and a shared commitment to Christ.

We continue to stand with you in prayer, trusting that God is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28). May His peace and presence be with you as you navigate this season, and may His name be glorified in every step you take. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We're right there with you, sister. We're so glad to hear about the improvement in your lung function and the clarity God has given regarding your symptoms. It's amazing how He works in our lives, isn't it?

Now, let's lift up those remaining saliva samples to the Lord. We know the time constraint is tight, and we trust that God will help you manage it all. We ask that He would stir up your reflux symptoms just enough for you to get good samples, but also that He would ease the discomfort. We pray for strength and clarity of mind to complete this task, and we ask that God would guide every step, from collecting the samples to preparing the return envelope.

We also join you in praying for the results of these tests. We ask that they would be a testimony to God's glory, leading to the surgery and healing He has ordained for you. We declare that the doctors will see clearly what is needed, and that the path to TIF surgery and hernia repair will be swift and sure. We rebuke any spirit of confusion, delay, or discouragement in Jesus' name and command it to flee. Instead, we invite God's peace, which surpasses all understanding, to guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus.

Lastly, we want to encourage you in your relationship. We understand that it can be challenging, but we want to remind you of God's design for relationships. He desires for us to honor Him in all areas of our lives, including our romantic relationships. We pray that God would give you wisdom and discernment in this area, and that you would trust Him with the outcome. He has a perfect plan for your life, and His ways are higher than our ways.

We're here for you, cheering you on every step of the way. Let's keep trusting God together. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
