THANKFUL BUT STILL NEED PRAYER

Leah B.

Humble Servant
Let me start off by thanking you for praying that my day would go smoothly. It absolutely did. Ditto for your prayers for my elderly father. The swelling in his legs is gone, and he is doing very well. I, on the other hand, am struggling with jaw pain and movement and being blindsided trying to get care. The dental specialist is trying to coordinate my care with a neurologist who specializes in movement disorders. Not one, but two, referrals were faxed on July 31st. Now here we are at the end of business on August 7, and I have yet to hear from the neurologist to book an appointment. A few days ago, ###, the receptionist in the dentist's office, informed me the hold-up was some paperwork requirement where she had to give the neurologist DEMOGRAPHIC information on me. She said it was not the fault of the neurologist. It's because of some new law. Great -- A law that creates yet another obstacle between me seeing a medical specialist and also apparently allows a third party to give that specialist personal information about me without my consent. I read about the demographic information. One of the reasons they say they're collecting it is to ensure "equity" in health care. The English translation to that is the delay in my seeing a doctor appears to be the fulfillment of some whacko left wing political agenda and may even result in discrimination against me in regards to when or if I ever even get to see this doctor. Do I know this for a fact? Of course not. Nobody will ever come out and tell me they're discriminating against me, but judging from the state I live in, I would say it's a distinct possibility. This being said, another possibility is that this new legal requirement was put in just to stall and even prevent me from seeing a specialist. Reason? Same as why I had to wait over a year for my carpal tunnel surgeries, stay in pain forever, and be put at risk for permanent nerve damage -- the insurance companies don't want to pay. The politicians have stolen so much money from Social Security and Medicare, the money probably isn't even available. Anyway, the upshot of my last conversation with ### was she told me not to call the neurologist's office. She said to wait for them to call me. The problem here? That was four days ago. The time for my second appointment with the dental specialist is rapidly approaching. Barring a miracle, there is no way this dentist will have any input from the neurologist to go by. On top of that, I'm getting pressure from a VA doctor to take a DNA test for drug sensitivities and also to go see an inside-VA neurologist who specializes in movement disorders. I really don't want to do either. The DNA thing creeps me out on general principle, and the only dealing I want to have with VA Neurology at this point is to maybe send them a paper bag to try to diagnose their way out of. You know what? You would think between Medicare and VA, I would have an advantage over others in getting health care. NOT. My friend who is dirt poor and totally reliant on Medicaid gets way, way better care than I do, and much faster too. I would trade places with her in a New York minute. All this being said, here are my prayers, all in Jesus's name: (1) Guidance as to how to handle the situation if I don't hear from the neurologist tomorrow; (2) That my care is expedited; (3) That I don't lose my temper or whimp out because at this point, I am totally at the end of my patience and am also absolutely livid; (4) Justice; (5) That I don't end up having to take that horrific drug with all bad side-effects or risk deforming my face to get rid of my jaw problems; (6) That I get all good, honest doctors. Amen.

We are grateful to hear that your day went smoothly and that your elderly father's swelling has subsided. It is a blessing to see God's hand at work in our lives, and we rejoice with you in these answered prayers. We will continue to lift up your father's health, giving thanks to God for His healing touch.

We understand that you are experiencing significant challenges with your health care, and we are here to support you in prayer and counsel. It is disheartening to hear about the obstacles you are facing, and we encourage you to remain steadfast in your faith. Remember that God is sovereign, and He is aware of your struggles. Let us turn to His Word for comfort and guidance.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB)

We encourage you to seek God's peace and patience as you navigate this difficult situation. It is understandable that you feel frustrated and concerned about the delays in your care. However, we urge you to guard your heart against anger and bitterness, for these can hinder your relationship with God and others.

"Be angry and do not sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil." (Ephesians 4:26-27 WEB)

We will pray for God's guidance as you make decisions about your healthcare. It is important to seek wisdom from God and to trust that He will direct your steps. We also encourage you to advocate for yourself respectfully and persistently, seeking the care you need while trusting in God's provision.

Regarding the DNA test and the VA neurologist, we understand your reservations. It is essential to make informed decisions about your healthcare, and we encourage you to seek God's wisdom in these matters. Pray for discernment and guidance, and trust that God will lead you in the right direction.

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5 WEB)

We will pray for justice in your situation, trusting that God sees your struggles and will act on your behalf. We also pray for honest and compassionate doctors to care for you, and for expedited care that addresses your needs effectively.

"He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the Lord require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" (Micah 6:8 WEB)

We lift up your request to avoid medications with harmful side effects. We pray for God's healing touch on your body and for wise medical counsel that aligns with His will for your health.

"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers." (3 John 1:2 WEB)

Let us pray together:

We encourage you to continue seeking God's will in all aspects of your life. Trust in His love and faithfulness, and know that He is always with you. We are here to support you in prayer and counsel, and we ask that you keep us updated on your situation.

"Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews 4:16 WEB)
