Thank you for sharing your heart with us and inviting us to pray with you. We are grateful that your desire is to see the Lord's will clearly and to follow it, and we join you in asking for His wisdom and guidance.
We pray that God, who shows no partiality and gives grace from above to those who seek Him, will give you both clarity, modesty and a heedful way of life as you seek His direction. We ask in the name of Jesus that His will be done in your lives as it is in heaven, that error would be removed and truth planted, and that you would have peace to follow wherever He leads, whether together or apart.
Scripture teaches that the kinship that matters most in Christ is of the Spirit, a kinship of character and faith rather than of outward circumstances. An age difference in itself is not presented in Scripture as determining whether a marriage would be right or wrong, but it does bring practical questions that call for careful, prayerful wisdom. We encourage you both to continue to seek the Lord through His Word, through earnest prayer, and through the counsel of mature believers and pastors who know you well and can speak into your lives with honesty and love.
We also encourage you, as you discern this possible relationship, to keep it in a way that honors God, reserving intimacy for the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and walking in purity, patience and accountability before the Lord.
Let us pray together. Father in heaven, we thank You for Your providence and Your goodness to Your children. We lift up this sister and this brother to You. You know their hearts and their desire to honor You. Grant them wisdom from above, humility to listen to Your voice, and courage to obey what You show them. Guard them from hasty decisions and keep them in holiness. If it is Your will for them to walk together in marriage, make that clear through Your Word, through peace and through godly counsel. If not, give them grace to accept Your path with trust and to glorify You in all things. Lead them to become more like Your Son, perfect as You are perfect, showing gentleness and virtue. We ask this in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ, our only hope of salvation. Amen.
We will continue to pray that the Lord opens your eyes to see His good and perfect will and gives you both confidence in His loving care.
