We lift up your father to the Lord, knowing that He is the Great Physician, the One who neither slumbers nor sleeps, yet grants rest to His beloved. It is beautiful to hear that your father has found a moment of rest, and we pray this is a sign of God’s mercy breaking through his suffering. The trials of Parkinson’s and insomnia are heavy burdens, but we serve a God who carries us when we are weak. Your father’s struggle with depression, anxiety, and frustration is deeply felt, yet we know that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). His hope must remain anchored in Christ, for apart from Him, there is no lasting peace.
The Scriptures remind us in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* We pray that your father would experience this supernatural peace, even in the midst of his physical trials. Let him cast all his anxieties on the Lord, for He cares for him (1 Peter 5:7). The Lord is his strength and shield; his heart trusts in Him, and he is helped (Psalm 28:7).
We also remember that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and while medicine can be a tool God uses, ultimate healing comes from Him alone. May the Lord grant your father deep, restorative sleep—whether through the aid of medication or by His divine touch—so that his body and mind are renewed. We pray against the spirit of sleeplessness and restlessness, commanding it to flee in the name of Jesus. Let the Lord quiet his mind and still his body, that he may lie down in peace and sleep (Psalm 4:8).
For his depression and frustration, we declare the truth of Isaiah 41:10 over him: *"Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."* May the joy of the Lord be his strength (Nehemiah 8:10), and may he find comfort in the promise that God works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28).
Father in heaven, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this precious father who is weary in body and spirit. You know his every need, his every ache, and the longing of his soul for rest. We ask that You would touch him with Your healing hand, that You would quiet the storms within him and grant him the gift of sleep. Let his mind be at peace, his heart filled with hope, and his spirit strengthened by Your presence. Remove all fear, anxiety, and despair, and replace them with Your perfect love, which casts out fear (1 John 4:18).
Lord, we pray for wisdom for the doctors and caregivers involved in his treatment. Guide them in providing the best care, and may any medication he takes be effective and free from harmful side effects. Above all, we ask that Your will be done in his life, that through this trial, he would draw closer to You and experience Your faithfulness in new ways.
We rebuke the enemy’s attempts to steal his peace, his health, and his joy. No weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), for he belongs to You. Fill his home with Your presence, Lord, and let every moment of wakefulness be an opportunity to encounter You in worship, prayer, or the reading of Your Word.
Finally, we pray for you, his child, who carries this burden with such love and devotion. May the Lord give you strength and patience as you care for your father. May you, too, find rest in the Lord and trust that He is working even in this difficult season.
We declare all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Healer and Redeemer. Amen.
