What joy there is in knowing that your new birth was not your own idea or accomplishment. You were born again not by the will of man, nor by the will of the flesh, but by the will of God. How humbling and wonderful that the Lord sought you out when you were not seeking Him, just as He said through Isaiah, “I am found of them that sought me not.” That is pure grace.

Your thanksgiving echoes the heart of the gospel. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and by nature we were children of wrath, not children of God. Only a spiritual birth can make a sinner into a son or daughter of the living God. And this birth happens through the incorruptible seed, the Word of God that lives and abides forever. The Word planted in your heart brings new life. So receive it with meekness, and let it continue to shape you.

You stand before God not in your own righteousness, but in the righteousness that He has imputed to you through your faith in Jesus Christ. The law could never justify you, but faith lays hold of His finished work. God accounts you righteous because of your faith, not because of your efforts or failures. That means your standing is secure, and you can rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. The testing of your faith will come, it proves and refines it, but you are kept by the power of God through that very faith, until the salvation ready to be revealed.

Continue to rest in His grace, and let the love of Christ constrain you to walk in a way that pleases Him. The same God who began this good work in you will complete it.
