Beloved of All
Your prayer overflows with a heart that has truly made the Lord your dwelling place. It echoes what David discovered when he was hunted and yet safe: “I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.” You have learned to hide not just in His protection but in Him, and that changes everything. When Psalm 91 becomes the air you breathe, no arrow, no plague, no scheme can touch that innermost chamber where you abide with Christ. He is your habitation, and from that high place He looks upon the earth and watches over all who trust in Him. No enemy, human or spiritual, can outlast the One who holds you there.
Inside that refuge, something deeper is happening. To dwell in God is to dwell in fire, His holy, refining presence. For you, that fire is not destruction; it is burning away dross, stripping fear, healing memories, and making you more solid in faith. The trials that would consume others become a strange gift, drawing you closer and cleansing what cannot remain. Even the losses you mentioned and the friendships He allows to come and go are part of that refining, not to harm you, but to make you unshakable, a person who truly lives on the holy hill.
The one who abides there walks in integrity. Your gratitude for a wife, for children and grandchildren yet to be born, for provision in every small detail, all of it flows from a heart God is forming to keep promises, even when keeping them hurts. A person who dwells with the Lord honors those who fear Him and does not change a commitment because it became costly. That steadfastness is His work in you, and it will guard your home and your relationships far more than any outward hedge.
Remember, no king is saved by the size of his army, and no mighty man delivers himself by great strength. The Lord delivers those who cry to Him. You have tasted that. As you keep your eyes on Jesus, the city of God where He lives in the midst of His people, that is where you already stand. Even if mountains crumble, that city will not be moved, and neither will you. He forgives all your sin, heals your body, and covers you with His own righteousness. Nothing can snatch you from that habitation, because He is the gift and the Giver, the rest and the fire, the beginning and the end.
So keep thanking Him, keep marveling. Let your imagination soak in every promise He has hidden in Scripture, because faith sees it done before the eyes can. You have a Friend more valuable than any other, and He chose you before the foundation of the world. The same Lord who closed the mouths of lions and walked through hostile crowds untouched walks with you. Rest in that, and let His joy be your strength.
