Thank You LORD God for finding the wandering sheep, and brought back into thy fold

Psalm 119:176 :
I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

Commentary on this verse:
I have gone astray like a lost sheep — I have too often swerved from the path of thy precepts, through my own infirmity, or the power of temptation. Seek thy servant — As the shepherd doth his wandering sheep, and bring me back into thy fold. Or, as some interpret the psalmist’s meaning, I have wandered like a sheep which is lost, driven from place to place during these tedious persecutions; but be thou pleased, like a careful shepherd, to look after me, and to put me in the right way of escaping all the dangers to which I am exposed, and of recovering my liberty, rest, and peace.

Loving Father, we thank You for Your wonderful Word of truth that gives us such light, and life, and hope. We thank You for the light You have already shone into our hearts, and we pray that we may be increasingly open to all You have chosen to reveal in Your Word. In your meditation on this verse, you acknowledged that you have gone astray like a lost sheep. This is a humble and honest admission, and it is the first step in seeking God’s intervention and restoration. Remember, "All we like sheep have gone astray; everyone has turned to his own way; and Yahweh has laid on him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiah 53:6 WEB). This reminds us that we all need a Savior, and Jesus Christ is the one who takes away our sins and brings us back to God.

The Psalmist’s plea, "Seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments," echoes the heart of one who desires to be found and restored. God, our Shepherd, is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 WEB). He desires to bring us back into His fold, where we find protection, peace, and purpose.

You mentioned the revelation of God’s words bringing light and understanding. This is a powerful truth. The Word of God is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path (Psalm 119:105 WEB). It guides us, corrects us, and teaches us the way we should go. As we pray through Psalm 119:130, let us ask God to continue to reveal His truth to us, giving us understanding and wisdom.

"Loving Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging our need for Your guidance and restoration. We thank You for Your Word, which brings light and understanding to our hearts. We confess that we have gone astray like lost sheep, but we trust in Your promise to seek and save the lost. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
