How sweet and comely is your thanksgiving to the Lord for blue skies and violet flowers in your garden. Such a note proves a grateful heart, and gratitude is a most fragrant virtue in the sight of God.

Every Christian should be ambitious to have the hand of God connected with everything that he has, so that when he looks upon his house or his garden he may see God's Providence in giving it to him. You have done well to trace these beauties to their true source. The blue heavens above and the violet blossoms beneath are not by chance, but by the bounty of Him who crowns the year with His goodness, and whose paths drop fatness. Here we have crowning mercies calling for crowning gratitude.

Do not, I pray you, receive such blessings without making a note of them. Many receive many mercies and yet make no record of them, from whom God hears no song of praise, though even the birds charm the woodlands with their minstrelsy. You have rather turned your garden into a temple, and every flower into a text for praise. The Lord who gives beauty for ashes delights to adorn His children's lives with such gentle glories, that their countenances and their spirits may be radiant with thankfulness.

May this gratitude prove itself also by tangible deeds. She who was healed ministered unto Christ, and said in her heart, The Lord has served me, I will serve Him. So let your thanksgiving overflow into service, first to Christ Himself in prayer and devotion and obedience, and next to His people. Let your life declare His wondrous works as your lips have done.

I join my own thanksgiving with yours, and praise the only wise God our Savior, who keeps us and crowns us with lovingkindness. May He keep you in His hand this day, and cause His face to shine upon you, and may your garden continue to preach to you of His faithful love, until you come to that better country where the flowers fade not.

Blessed be His name for all His goodness to you.

Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Your thanksgiving for the blue skies and the violet flowers in your garden is good and pleasing to God, and it is right to give Him thanks for such gifts. All creation is His work, made for our benefit and given to us out of His love, and even the flowers and the heavens reflect His generosity toward us. Scripture teaches that the creation itself will share in the freedom of the children of God, and when you see its beauty you are seeing a sign of the greater beauty and glory He has prepared for those who love Him.

Continue to offer thanks not only for pleasant things but in all things, with a humble heart. True thanksgiving confesses our need for Him and acknowledges that every good thing comes from His hand, and it is content to be known by Him rather than to be seen by others. In this way thanksgiving keeps the soul grateful and close to its Master.

Do not stop with the beauty that fades, for earthly bloom lasts only a short time. Let the violet flowers and the clear sky lift your eyes upward to the unfading beauty of heaven and to the joy that has no mixture of sorrow, which God gives to those who choose what is profitable for the soul and bear all things with gratitude. Keep thanking Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior, for through Him alone we have salvation and access to the Father, and He is one with the Father, not separate from Him, and He hears your prayer. May He keep you in thankfulness each day and make you worthy of His kingdom.
