Our prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your faithful provision and for watching over us in every wilderness season of our life. Just as You rained down manna from the skies to feed the children of Israel, You are the God who supplies all our needs in ways that human effort alone cannot produce.

LORD God, forgive us for the times we have doubted Your goodness or worried about tomorrow. Help us to trust in Your daily provision, knowing that You give grace, strength, and sustenance right when we need it. Open the windows of heaven over our life, our home, and our work, and fill our storehouses with Your supernatural blessings. Teach us to rely completely on You, day by day, and let our heart rest in Your abundant care.

We join you in thanking our Heavenly Father for His faithful provision and for watching over us in every wilderness season of our lives, and we rejoice with you in this beautiful prayer based on Psalm 78:24 He rained down manna on them to eat, and gave them food from the sky.

We love how you have connected the manna in the wilderness to Jesus Himself, the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life. That manna was not just food for the body but a picture of the greater provision God would give us in Christ. Jesus said in John 6:35 I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. And again in John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Just as God supplied what human effort could never produce for Israel, He has supplied for us what we could never earn or create for ourselves, forgiveness, eternal life, and daily grace through His Son.

We also hear your heart to trust Him day by day and to be forgiven for doubting and worrying about tomorrow. We all struggle with this, and God gently teaches us as He taught Israel. Deuteronomy 8:3 reminds us He humbled you, allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn't know, neither did your fathers know; that he might teach you that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of Yahweh's mouth. And Jesus echoes this in Matthew 4:4. The wilderness is not abandonment, it is the classroom where we learn that His Word sustains us more than bread itself. We are encouraged that Jesus is that Word made flesh, and as John 1:1 tells us In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

We take comfort too in the promise of Philippians 4:19 My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And we learn to pray with childlike trust Matthew 6:11 Give us today our daily bread, believing He gives grace and strength right when we need it, not a month in advance but daily, as the manna came daily.

We were so encouraged to read your prayer of thanksgiving. Thank you for sharing it with us. There is something steadying about stopping to name God's faithful care, especially when you have walked through wilderness seasons and know what it is to need daily bread.

We join you in thanking Him for watching over you and for providing in ways that go beyond what we can make happen on our own. That honest gratitude you expressed, noticing that you have actually been given something and that you are not alone in it, is itself a gift. It quiets worry about tomorrow and helps the heart rest right where you are, one day at a time.

There is sweet music in your prayer, for it is the music of thankfulness, and to fail in praise is as unjustifiable as to fail in prayer. You have done well to remember Psalm 78:24, that He rained down manna for the people to eat and gave them the grain of heaven, for blessed be the Lord who daily loadeth us with benefits.

You speak of wilderness seasons, and I would remind you that even after we have been raised up together with Jesus we may find ourselves in the wilderness. Yet is not God the God of the wilderness? Were not His greatest marvels worked when He led His people through the howling wilderness and fed them with manna and revealed Himself in the fiery, cloudy pillar? Where did Hagar look to Him who saw her but in the wilderness, where did Moses see the Lord in the bush but at the backside of the desert, and where did Elijah hear the still small voice but away there in the wilderness? He who gave bread from heaven then is the same living God in whom we trust today, a God with a great warm loving heart, a thinking, active, working, personal God who comes into the midst of this world and does not leave it to go on by itself.

You pray rightly for forgiveness for doubting His goodness and worrying about tomorrow. Learn to handle this matter wisely by trusting in God in temporal things as well as spiritual. We are not to be idle, nor to be rash, but acting in all prudence and uprightness to rely simply and entirely upon Him. Do not say, Lord, I cannot trust You unless I feel this or that, for that is to make a god out of your feelings. You are to trust Him for the very grace and strength you lack. Trust Him as you sink and you shall swim, trust Him as you feel yourself dying and you shall live. Leave the helm to Him, for whenever you have been at the helm you have made a mistake. He daily bears our burdens, so have done with burden bearing.

And let this trust teach you to hold this world with a very loose hand, to look upon earthly possessions as fickle joys, and to test your hope every day. To die daily in this holy sense is to say, Lord, I have lost my comforts, I have lost my assurances, I have lost my delights, but I still trust in You. I have no God but You, neither will I worship any other, nor repose my confidence elsewhere. Though You slay me, yet will I trust in You.

May the Lord answer your prayer and open the windows of heaven over your life, your home and your work, not only with temporal mercies but with the true Bread of Heaven, Christ Himself, the Word of Life. May He teach you to rely completely upon Him day by day, to give praise daily as often as you pray, and to rest your heart in His abundant care, knowing that He that is our God is the God of our salvation. May you find that as you trust His Son at once, you shall know His love more and more, and your wilderness shall become a place of communion with Him.

Your thanksgiving is good and pleasing to God, for you have remembered His faithful provision in the wilderness as He rained down manna and gave the grain of heaven to His people.

Scripture shows us that God provides not as man provides, but as God. When we are anxious and take our interests into our own hands and let go of spiritual things, we carry them as a man would. But when we leave them to Him and seek first what belongs to Him, He undertakes them fully and abundantly. This is what your prayer asks for rightly, to trust His daily provision and not to worry about tomorrow.

Learn also what true provision means. We are taught not to make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, going beyond what is necessary for wantonness and soft living. That kind of provision kindles desire and weighs down the soul. The provision God gives is different. He gives what is needed for health and strength, for grace and endurance day by day, so that we may spend our chief labor on spiritual things. The manna in the wilderness was given daily, enough for the day, to teach Israel to rely completely on Him. So Christ Himself is the true Bread of Heaven, the Word of Life, who sustains us not only in body but in soul.

You have also prayed well to ask forgiveness for doubting His goodness. While it is called Today, there is hope and a place for return. If we have murmured in the wilderness or been slothful in remembering His word, He awakens us and calls us back to trust. Do not despair, but recover yourself and rest your heart again in His abundant care.

May the Lord forgive every doubt and anxious thought, and teach you to leave your life, your home and your work in His hands. May He open the windows of heaven and supply what you truly need, giving daily grace, strength and sustenance at the right time, and keeping you in every wilderness season until you come to the fullness of His kingdom.
