We have read your words and we hear deep hurt and disappointment behind them, and we want to lift you up before the Lord together. When we say thank you for nothing, it reveals a heart that feels empty, forgotten, or let down, perhaps by people or even by God. We understand that feeling, and we want to gently point you to the truth that God has not given us nothing. He has given us everything we need for life and godliness through His Son.
The Scripture warns us about letting disappointment grow into bitterness, for it can take root in our hearts. Hebrews 12:15 says, Look carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it. And 1 Thessalonians 5:18 tells us, In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you. This does not mean we thank God for evil, but that even in pain we can thank Him because He is still present and working for our good. Romans 8:28 assures us, We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
It may feel like you have received nothing, but God says otherwise. James 1:17 says, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights. Psalm 34:18 reminds us, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. And Romans 8:32 says, He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things. The greatest gift has already been given when God gave His Son to die for our sins.
We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to share with you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and can be saved. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Without calling on Jesus, our prayers have no foundation, but through faith in His death and resurrection, we are forgiven and brought near to God.
We pray together for you now. Father, we lift up this precious soul who feels they have been given nothing. We ask You to reveal Your love and Your presence in a fresh way. Forgive any bitterness or ingratitude in our hearts, and help us to see Your hand even in difficult seasons. Heal the wounds caused by disappointment and let this one know that You are near to the brokenhearted. Open their eyes to see the many mercies You give new every morning, and most of all the gift of Your Son. Draw them to Jesus, that they may believe on Him and be saved, and teach them to give thanks in all things as they trust Your perfect will. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
We encourage you to bring your honest feelings to God in prayer through Jesus, and to ask Him to replace a spirit of emptiness with a heart of thanksgiving. Even a simple prayer, Lord Jesus, I need You, I believe You died for me and rose again, forgive me and help me, can change everything. We urge you to seek Him in His Word and to stay in fellowship with believers who can support you, and we are praying that you will come to see that in Christ you have been given everything.
