We rejoice with you in giving thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ for the blessings in your life, both great and small! It is wonderful to see your heart of gratitude, for Scripture reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, *"In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you."* Even in the small joys of life, like a vinyl record playing smoothly, we can see the goodness of God and acknowledge His care over all things.
Yet, as we reflect on your words, we are compelled to gently remind you—and all who may read this—that our ultimate gratitude must always be directed toward Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith. He alone is worthy of our praise, not merely for the temporal blessings we enjoy, but for the eternal salvation He has secured for us through His death and resurrection. As it is written in Acts 4:12, *"There is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved!"* It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name that we offer our thanks and petitions.
We also encourage you to consider the deeper blessings of the Lord in your life. While it is good to be thankful for the small things, let us never lose sight of the greater work He is doing in our hearts and lives. Are there areas where you need His healing, restoration, or guidance? Are there sins you need to repent of or relationships that need reconciliation? Let us always seek first His kingdom and righteousness, trusting that He will provide all we need (Matthew 6:33).
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your goodness and mercy that follow us all the days of our lives. We lift up our brother/sister before You today, grateful for their heart of thanksgiving. Lord, we ask that You deepen their love and devotion to You, that they may see beyond the temporal blessings and fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith. Help them to walk in gratitude not just for the things You do, but for who You are—a God who is faithful, just, and full of love.
If there are areas in their life that need Your touch—whether broken relationships, unconfessed sin, or a heart that needs renewal—we ask that You would work mightily in those places. Draw them closer to You, Lord, and let them experience the fullness of Your peace and joy. May they always remember that it is in Jesus’ name alone that we come before You, and it is in His name that we offer this prayer.
We also pray that You would surround them with godly community, brothers and sisters in Christ who will encourage them to grow in faith and walk in obedience to Your Word. Let them never forget that You are the God who restores, who redeems, and who makes all things new.
We ask all this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
