Terrible noise - cutting grass machine - school

Unbeleivable - terrible noise of grass cutting machine. I cannot concentrate on work. I am a teacher in a highschool. I asked authorities to do something about it couple years ago but nobody listened to me...its really arrogant, students are alao irritated. Why cant they do that at weekends? These are machines of the school...

We hear your frustration and we join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord, for He cares about the daily difficulties we face in our work. We understand how distracting and wearying it must be to try to teach and to help your students concentrate while such loud machinery is running nearby, especially when you have already tried to address this with those in authority and felt unheard.

We want to encourage you to cast this anxiety on Him, trusting that He hears you even when others seem not to. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

We also encourage you with gentleness to guard your heart against bitterness or resentment toward those in authority, even when their decisions feel inconsiderate. We are called to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. James 1:19 And we are reminded, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Romans 12:18 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger. Proverbs 15:1 This does not mean your concern is not valid, it is, but it means we approach those over us with respect and patience, again if needed, perhaps with other teachers or parents joining together in a calm and respectful appeal, seeking a better time for this work such as after hours or on weekends.

We also notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 It is by placing our faith in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are reconciled to God and can come boldly before His throne with every care.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this teacher to You. You know the noise and disruption that makes the work of teaching so difficult, and You see the irritation of both teachers and students. We ask You to grant peace in that classroom and in that heart, a peace that surpasses understanding even amid distraction. We pray You would give wisdom and favor as this concern is brought again to those in authority, that they would listen with understanding and consider a more suitable time for this maintenance work. Help us to speak with grace and patience, and to show Christlike character even when we feel frustrated. We ask that You would be glorified in this high school, that learning would not be hindered, and that Your calm would rest over the students and staff. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our only hope and mediator, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to do your work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Colossians 3:23 Trust that God sees your faithful service as a teacher and will sustain you. Keep bringing this matter to Him in prayer and, as the Lord leads, make your request known again with gentleness and with others who share the concern, trusting God to work in the hearts of those who make these decisions.

We hear how wearing this has been, trying to teach while a mower roars outside your window, and even harder to feel you spoke up a couple years ago and were not heard. It makes sense you and your students feel irritated and dismissed.

When a frustration repeats and we have little control over it, it helps to separate what we can try to change from how we steady ourselves in the moment. For the part you can try to change, it may help to approach the administration again but not alone. If a few teachers together note the specific days and hours the noise disrupts classes and propose a clear alternative, like late afternoon or weekend maintenance, a written note signed together often gets more attention than a single request. Keeping a brief log for a week or two gives you concrete details to share.

In the classroom on noisy days, even small adjustments like closing windows and doors, moving discussion to the quieter side of the room, or shifting a test to a less disrupted time can ease the strain a little.

Father, we lift up this teacher and the students to You. Grant wisdom for the conversation with the school, patience in the waiting, and peace in the classroom each day. Give rest and encouragement after long days of trying to be heard. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

The irritation you describe is felt by many who must labor with the mind while the hands of others make a loud and untimely noise about them, and it is no small trial when those in authority seem not to hear your complaint though you have brought it before them more than once.

You have heard of the patience of Job, and you will remember that his patience was not the patience of a perfect man who felt nothing, but of a man of like passions with ourselves, imperfect and full of infirmity, who yet said, Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him. God counted His servant worthy to be tried, and in that trying a rarer beauty was seen than in his prosperity. Benevolence and uprightness shone in Job as bright stars, but patience silvered all with a superior light. So the Lord would have patience wrought in you also, not only the patience that is inculcated and exhibited in the Scriptures, but the patience that is produced by the Scriptures through comfort and hope.

It is right that you should desire order and quiet for your work and for your pupils, for your calling as a teacher is a stewardship before the Lord. Yet while you seek again, with meekness and quiet reason, to lay the matter before those who have the care of these machines and to ask that the work be done at a more fitting season, you may also leave everything with God and let Him do what He likes with you. If you sang with your heart that you will do the Lord's will and that His will shall be your will, you will find that even this daily noise may become a call to prayer rather than to fretting. When the engine roars, let it send your heart upward for a moment, that you may find peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, and that peace will keep your spirit when outward quiet cannot be had.

May you feel an agreement with your Lord's will in this small provocation, and may you be filled with a happy expectancy that He who hears all cries will hear yours. I pray that the Lord will give you calmness of mind to do your work faithfully, that He will give wisdom and consideration to those who order the affairs of the school, and that He will grant to you and to your students a spirit of forbearance and grace to bear one another's burdens. May He keep your heart in the light where there is no darkness at all, and daily cleanse and quiet you by the blood of Jesus Christ, and bring you at last to that place where no jarring sound shall disturb the perfect rest of those who dwell with Him.
