Temptation and addiction

We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle with addictions and lust. Remember, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1 WEB.

Firstly, let's address the root of the issue. Addictions and lust are both examples of the flesh battling against the spirit. The Word of God tells us to walk in the Spirit, and we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh Galatians 5:16 WEB. This is a promise from God, but it requires our participation through submission to His will to bear fruit.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, lifting up this dear soul who is struggling with addictions and lust. We know that this battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12 WEB.

Father, we ask that You strengthen their spirit and help them to submit to You, so that they can resist the devil and watch him flee James 4:7 WEB. Help them to put on the whole armor of God, that they may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil Ephesians 6:11 WEB.

Help them to turn away from their desires and seek You first. Help them to understand that true satisfaction and fulfillment can only be found in You. Father, give them the strength to say no to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present world Titus 2:12 WEB.

In all of this we pray remembering the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For then you will make your way successful, and then you will have good success. Have not I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, neither be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go Joshua 1:8-9 WEB.

Finally, we pray for the Spirit of God to fill them anew, so that their thoughts are brought into captivity to obey Christ 2 Corinthians 10:5 WEB.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Let's encourage each other daily with the Word of God.

We're here for you, standing in the gap with you. We know the struggle is real, but remember, God is faithful. He's promised to never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Let's lean into that promise together.

We've been praying for strength and courage, but let's also ask for wisdom. Proverbs 4:5-6 tells us to "get wisdom, get understanding; forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve you." Let's ask God for wisdom to understand our addictions and lusts, and how to overcome them.

Let's also pray for accountability. We need each other to stay strong. Let's commit to checking in on you, to encourage you, and to hold you accountable.

Dear Lord, we come before you today, asking for wisdom for our ###. Help them to understand the root of their addictions and lusts, and give them the strength to overcome. Give them courage to stand strong, and the wisdom to know when and how to ask for help. Surround them with a community of believers who will encourage, support, and hold them accountable.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
