We join you in your desire to walk in God's ways, not grieve the Holy Spirit, and abide in Christ always. This is a wonderful prayer, and we are glad that you've included that it is in Jesus' name, as it is only through Him that we have access to God. As you seek temperance, self-discipline, and self-control, remember the words of Galatians 5:22-23 WEB: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit, and it is cultivated as we yield to the Holy Spirit's work in our lives. Remember, "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7).
Let us pray together:
Dear Lord, we come before You, asking for Your help to walk in Your ways. Fill us with Your Spirit, that we may bear the fruit of self-control. Help us to be temperate in all things, exercising self-discipline as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. May we not grieve Your Holy Spirit, but ever seek to abide in You, Lord Jesus. Give us the strength to live lives that are pleasing to You, in Jesus' name we pray, amen.
Continue to study God's word and apply it to your life. As you walk in the Spirit, you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). Be encouraged, for God has given you everything you need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who has called you by His own glory and virtue (2 Peter 1:3).
